In 1993 our company was resurfacing the starting lines and water pits for the drag strip. On the last day of the job the flood water was chasing us up the strip all day. That's where the outside pit area is now.

YES YOU ARE RIGHT. I WASN'T REFERRING TO SITUATIONS LIKE THE MONSTER FLOOD OF 93'. I WAS TALKING ABOUT LIKE A COUPLE OF YEARS BACK WHEN A LITTLE TOO MUCH RAIN, CAUSES WATER TO GO OVER THE ENTRANCE ROAD.

I DON'T SEE ANY WAY TO CURE INSTANCES LIKE 93'. IF YOU DID SOMETHING TO PROTECT THE TRACK, IT WOULD PROBABLY CAUSE PROBLEMS SOMEWHERE ELSE.

subdivision

I know a little about that sub going in, I worked on the boundary survey.

Flooding has been a problem down there since forever. It would take a lot of fill or a dyke to stop flooding on pit road. The flood of 93 was a 150 year flood and then in 94 we had a 100 year flood.
Those floods were to say the least unusual, however I have seen flooding with much less rainfall and will more than likely always be a problem.

I know what will happen, it has all been made clear to me from the cards. I55 will have a practice day and a full racing season. No Floods, the year will be dry.

Now I must go update my 2004 predictiions and I will not trust Trashdog to ever post them again. I will do it myself.

Be afraid, be very afraid for only I know what the future holds.

I would not do that! I think a Racing Decor is in order! I know where I can get some very IMPRESSIVE racing pictures. :D

Big Bass Lake Road Flooding

I heard a "Rumor" a while back that due to the addition of the new subdivision across from the track there may be a good chance that the road will be raised.

In the past the only thing that was affected by the flooding was the track since the flooding only occured on either side of it. But now with the subdivision there is a potential to have several people cut off from their homes should the road become flooded. I know there's a house or two being built in the subdivision now so a solution could be coming soon for the more routine flooding that occurs.

The only other problem that the flooding could cause after the road gets fixed would be the lower pits. Set aside the '93 flood usually the only thing to get water on it is the lower access behind the old water boxes on the drag strip. And that can be avoided by opening the upper gates or crossing the drag strip.

Hope the rumors I've heard are true and if anyone can verify this it'd be good to hear.

I am going to try to go to the Summer Nationals. this year. It will be the only race I will go to at I-55 this year.

Q, I doubt its true, only because the entrances to the subdivision is on top of the hill not off the road below. One of the entrances is right in my Aunt's front yard. The other is on the far end. I wish they would raise the road, but I don't see it happening anytime soon. I went by the track yesterday, they did have the water/sewer pipes in and still were working on them. The concessions have not started, but there was still snow and ice on the ground so they couldn't.
I'm looking forward to a great season.

DIRTGIRL

HOW ABOUT A CHANGING TABLE FOR US WHO HAVE BABIES? LOCKS ON THE DOOR I AGREE WOULD BE VERY NICE.

BRANDY

What they really need to do is extend the service road that runs down the west side of I-55 from the Pevely exit. The road goes in front of that cheap hotel. It would come out right on the other side of the I-55 overpass right past the track. The distance would not be that far. Something to think about.
