Looks like the midgets will be thinned out between the two tracks on Oct 6th...

trust me....the big boys will be at Tri-city, best midget and non-wing sprint show around that time of year.

We've had this discussion earlier this year. The combined USAC/POWRi shows at Tri-City were great events but are not possible now with the engine chip requirement for USAC. It's a shame that midget fans can't be two places at once. :(

The the engine chip has NOTHING to do with USAC/POWRi running together for the Gold Crown. Last year there were 60 Midgets at the Gold Crown Midget Nationals and driver's from both Sanction groups were there under the engine chip rule and no one had a problem.

It was a great event with Levi Jones coming from the "C Main" to Winning the "A Main"

This year 2 more starting positions were added to the "A" Main. A starting field of 26 will be guaranteed $700 to Start with $10,000 to Win on Saturday.

The 2012 Gold Crown Midget Date was announced at last year's Gold Crown.

This year on Saturday during the day Tri City will be hosting the
Quartermidgets on the New Tri City Junior Speedway. Midget driver's
will be in attendance with the kids throughout the day and presenting
the winner's with their trophies. 26 Kids will be picked to attend the
"Gold Crown Midget Nationals" driver introduction and will be teamed up
with a driver.

Saturday's "A" Main Payout

If the Gold Crown date was announced as Kevin says it was at last years event, and I believe him...it's just weak that someone scheduled against it such a short distance away in freakin' October?! Don't both tracks and organizations want to see midget racing thrive again? I just don't get the logic

The midget events at Lincoln, Macon and Angell Park this coming weekend are co-sanctioned by POWRi, USAC & Badger according to the flyer on POWRi's own website. So it isn't a deal of them having enough rules different.

May have been lack of communication, also..

If you look at the cars at the Gold Crown last year I think there were only 12 POWRi guys there. There were 60 midgets total. I believe only 3 POWRi cars made the final night A-main. Take those 12 away and it will still be a quality field at the Gold Crown. Kevin is trying to help the sport by having this race paying lots of money if POWRi doesn't want to play and is intent on trying to hurt USAC let them be.
They can't use the rev limiter excuse any more as USAC's tech guy can put the limiter on any ignition system including older style magnetos which evidently a lot POWRi cars seem to still use.

I went to the whole USAC midget week this year big car counts and great racing all week and only 1 POWRi car was there and I don't think he made an A-main the whole week. In other words no one missed them. USAC has the support of ARDC the midget group out of Pennsylvania they work together on their schedules to support each other for the betterment of the sport. I know of at least 15 ARDC cars that are towing to the Gold Crown and more are trying to come. It's a shame that the midget group in the area doesn't have the same views.

If going to the Gold Crown keep an eye on Alex Bright the young kid out of Pennsylvania he is a future star. Very exciting to watch.

So when are you going to get off the sidelines and back in the game? You know you want to. How much longer are you going to be able to resist the urge? :)

reschedule the powri show

it would be in the best interest of both parties if powri would reschedule there race for Wednesday or Sunday. not only would the crowd count be up at both tracks as well as the car count. there are a lot of powri micro racers that also run midgets that will have to make a decision on what track to run. if I'm not mistaken powri's first schedule had there race on Oct 13th. come on guys lets make this a win win situation for both tracks.

It is really too bad this is happening. The fans wind up being the loosers in not being able to attend both midget shows. For us open wheel shows, there is not enough sprint/midget shows in the St. Louis area and now we have two scheduled on the same day just a few miles apart.

I see also that Tri City has now substituted modifieds and crate late models for the unsanctioned midgets on the Aug 31 USAC Sprint show. I wonder if this Oct 6 scheduling has anything to do with this.

To Clarify.... The Gold Crown is promoted and ran by Tri City Speedway

Scheduling... Purse etc is all done through Tri City

USAC did NOT move on top of POWRis weekend. They had nothing to do with
the scheduling. (as stated in another post )

Don't put the blame on USAC.. They have put alot of extra effort in making this event grow each year they have gone above and beyond to help promote and make this a premier event for the Midget Teams.

The event was put together by Kevin at Tri City and has welcomed all Sanctions to be apart of it. This is about putting on a great event for the teams and giving back to the fans and drivers.

Thank you
Tri City Speedway

I think we will survive...Too much complaining, just pick a show and GO! After this summer, why would you bi*ch about too much racing??? The Gold Crown is a 3-Day show,.Belle-Clair is only one,correct?..:)
