I think this happened last year as well and both events did well.
May have been lack of communication, also..The midget events at Lincoln, Macon and Angell Park this coming weekend are co-sanctioned by POWRi, USAC & Badger according to the flyer on POWRi's own website. So it isn't a deal of them having enough rules different.
If you look at the cars at the Gold Crown last year I think there were only 12 POWRi guys there. There were 60 midgets total. I believe only 3 POWRi cars made the final night A-main. Take those 12 away and it will still be a quality field at the Gold Crown. Kevin is trying to help the sport by having this race paying lots of money if POWRi doesn't want to play and is intent on trying to hurt USAC let them be.
They can't use the rev limiter excuse any more as USAC's tech guy can put the limiter on any ignition system including older style magnetos which evidently a lot POWRi cars seem to still use.
I went to the whole USAC midget week this year big car counts and great racing all week and only 1 POWRi car was there and I don't think he made an A-main the whole week. In other words no one missed them. USAC has the support of ARDC the midget group out of Pennsylvania they work together on their schedules to support each other for the betterment of the sport. I know of at least 15 ARDC cars that are towing to the Gold Crown and more are trying to come. It's a shame that the midget group in the area doesn't have the same views.
If going to the Gold Crown keep an eye on Alex Bright the young kid out of Pennsylvania he is a future star. Very exciting to watch.
