Where's all my ney sayers! LOL....

If I've heard correctly, the crates have turned quicker laps than the regular LMs. Not too bad for only spending a few thousand $$s instead of a couple thousand $$s if you ask me.

I can't wait to see the crates at the Rock. LOL - anyone who wants a driver for one, please just let me know, I'd be happy to jump in one!

"yes I have those guys need some spinach all i can dang I wish a chassis builder or straightner"

Not trying to be rude, but HUH??? Don't quite understand that one.

They don't call him Mad Daddy for nothing!!! And no, I have not watched the minor league late models. And untill I do, and put a stop watch on both at the same track under the same conditions, I still won't believe it!!!!

LOL - yep, Mad Daddy must've gone off on a tangent or something.

I clocked the crates at MCS a few weeks ago and regretfully, I can't for the life of me remember what they were running - sorry! I do remember that I was very impressed. I think you will be too, just remember to keep an open mind. Honestly, for the money and the love of running a late model, IMO you just can't beat the crates!

You know, mad daddy, you probably wouldn't get so much flack if you had a coherent post once in a while. I'm open minded and listen to everyone's sides, but you might want to read your posts to see if they make any sense before you submit them. I just don't get them.

Although - I do like Jeff's little quips he's added instead of whatever it is you're trying to get across.

MY BAD, MY BAD!!! I was just informed that an esel is a german donkey. I learned something today. My apologies to mad daddy.

Below is a post I copied from another thread. I know you said you wont believe it but I am sure that a bunch of people aren't going around making this up........

For comparison's sake, take a look at the lap times in the features. I announced the times, but for those who weren't there (or weren't paying attention), Steve Sheppard won the UMP Late Model feature. His last 2 laps were a pair of 14.3's. The CARS Late Models were next up, and on his first 2 laps, Jeff Walston (the early laeder) turned consecutive laps of 14.0 and 14.4. I took the last 2 laps of the UMP Lates and the first 2 of the CARS Lates because track conditions would have been nearly identical. Also, UMP's weight rule is 2300 pounds. Walston is running the 604 motor, so he must weigh 2400 pounds. And before the hound says "well they laid down water between the races", I will make note of the fact the water was put on the top of the track. Both Sheppard and Walston were running right around the bottom.

Since we are comparing apples to oranges, your beloved 604 motor makes 400hp @ 5500 rpm with the torque coming all in at 4500 rpm. Compare that to 700 plus hp in similar chassis and the math says that unless it is a small track with little bite it is impossible to compare them or make a reasonably intelligent person to believe that they will run similar times. That being said, I don't doubt that they put on a good show! And I would be inclined to come see them should they run at the ROCK. I was involved in the Late Model scene for a while and have a good idea what they are capable of. Not trying to ROCK the boat, just don't buy the whole story. Like I said before, on certain tracks with less than desirable traction, I can see similar times and that is the only time I can see it being possible!!!

You are right, I was comparing apples to oranges. The Crates would not run with the supers on a heavy track. Horsepower will win that one everytime. As you said, maybe they are the "Minor Leagues"? Go watch a crate race, talk to the drivers and you will see that they are having fun racing, they aren't breaking the bank and they are racing in a very competitive late model class that puts on a great show for the fans. I have talked to a lot of sceptics the last two years but the car counts continue to grow as does the interest from the fans. There has to be a reason for this, dont you think?

I am not trying to come across the wrong way, so please dont take it that way. I am just saying if you give it a chance you would more than likely like it.

Please reread my post! I said I had no doubt that they put on a good show, I am just not buying the same lap time thing. Unless traction is at a minimum. I have every intention of going to see them, of that you can be sure of!!!

Hey Tom, it is a traction thing.....Kinda like a 900cc 125hp Mod Lite turning faster times than one equipped with a 220hp 1200cc engine. It all comes down to hookin' it up.;)

Throw the lap times out the window

Let me start by saying that Im a major H.P. Junkie, Who cares about lap times??? I have seen these so called slow cars in action several times, They are worth watching, They put on one heck of a show and if you like racing at all you will enjoy this class! NOTHING wrong with this class at all!!! And the drivers still have some money in hand at the end of the night! Give it half a chance!
