Who would like to see Mike Meuer (I-55 announcer) at Tri-City???

Doug and George do a fine job. As for Hoot, I also beleive his time is up. Great man but not a great flagman. JMO

Whether you agree or dissagree with who does these jobs, at the area race tracks, just be glad that there are people willing to do it at all, so we, the race fans, can enjoy all the great racing that we have in the area.
I, for one, don't envy any of the announcers or officials, they have a difficult job, and for the most part, they all do it very well.

Mike was not the announcer on TV at the X/ump fall nationals. It was Xtreems guy, Emrick and he was not as good. Those guys might be good, but Mike is the best in the area, maybe in the buissiness. I think bring in Mike and keep one of the old guys as well.

Dean ,,i was talking about the show on Midwest Motor Sports,,the I55 Fall Nationals Sportsman race,,if i was wrong,,im sorry!dont know Mike ,never herd him ,just thought it was him on the show,,MY BAD SORRY MIKE

are you guys talking about the announcer at Pevely who does the sportsmen races...if so i think he's the worst i've ever heard..Just my opinion.

Both announcers at I-55 are named Mike, Mike Meuer does not do the sportsman cars, they call the guy who does the sportsman and 4 cylinders big Mike.

Keep the one everybody seems to like the best, I have not been to TCS enough to want anybody run off, dont put me on the spot for this one. The place is like most tracks I visited once or twice, the cautions seemed to take forever to get back to racing.

No Mike Meuer is the best announcer since Glen Jacoby. He is the voice of BelleClair Speedway in all classes but the pure stocks. He is a true professional and is often hired to MC local St. Louis events. I'd like to see (I mean hear) Mike Meuer and George Depper. They would be great together. Doug, no thanks. Not the voice for my racing entertainment. He does nothing to get the fans excited. His whole family must have posted on this thread! Nobody who knows a real announcer when they heard one, would prefer him over Mike Meuer.

The talker guy is truly the best local racing announcer in the area. I'm sure Kevin will hire some great annoucers, but I promise you this. If they keep Doug it will remind everyone of the old Tri-City and I don't think we all want that??

You got that right! He doesn't even really announce the races. Short of giving the lineups, he does little more than laugh at his own futile attempts at humor. And yell a lot.

I vote for Davy Lee if he is still in the St. Louis area he was the voice of Tri-City when racing was racing there aka the 1/2 mile for the Lates!!!!

PLEASE GET SOME DECENT FOOD TO EAT!!

The onion petals aren't too bad. But to be honest, the quality of track food is pretty far down my priority list as a fan. As long as the soda isn't too flat or syrupy during the summertime, I don't really care. I can eat before I leave.

if you havent heard mike muerer then you are missing out he works the fans to get them involved with the racing on the track , and big mike does a good job too , but 1 thing to remember is that revin races with allied so is there a possbility that allied may come on board to be the officials at the track . :D

As if anyone cares what Brandon Dipstick thinks I guess anyone who knows anything knows that Doug has lots more duties at Tri-city than announcing and George just rolls in an hour before the races grabs his dinner and then he gets on the job about 20 minutes before the races start. Doug is at the track at 3:30 doing many jobs getting ready for the show plus taking the time to get driver and sponser info which he provides for yeah you guessed it george. Get a life and get the facts straight.

Present Day Announcers In This Area? Mike Muerer Hands Down The Best. Not To Say Doug And George Don't Do A Good Job. But, Talker Guy Doesn't Go Announce At Gateway Cause They Need A Warm Body!

I Remember Davey Lee. Some May Remember The Nicknames He Gave Some Guys. Like Dandy Don Klein, Chargin' Charlie Johnson, Fireball Lenny Garson, Movin' Marvin Pruett, And Wildman Kenny Schrum! He Was A Good One No Doubt.

Also Goerge Depper Was On Kix-104 With The Frank O. Pinion Show. They Called Him George "The Medium Size" Depper!

They Would Need 2 Guys For Sure Thats The Pattern Nowadays. My Ears Would Definitely Like To Hear Mike Muerer There. Nothing Against Goerge But, I'd Choose Doug For Mike's Partner. Unless They Had All 3. That Would Be A Hoot! :D

George and I both arrive around the same time, and we do different things to get ready for the show. Often times while I'm in the pits before the show, he's making sure we have the information to keep the sponsors happy. I can't thank him enough for working with me to install the new equipment, and troubleshooting the stuff that needed attention. We both play different roles, as our announcing styles are unique, yet similar. In the 4 years since coming back to Tri City, I think George and I have developed a pretty good working chemistry. A chemistry I would like to continue if the opportunity allows.

I have also worked with Mike and I will gladly tell anyone who asks that he is at the top of his game. That's exactly why Gateway called him a few years ago when they were looking for a great announcer with local roots. What an awesome place that is! I worked the Gateway Busch race this year, and was indeed awe-inspiring to have a house that big to work.

Whatever Kevin chooses, it's his decision to make. Thanks to all who have voiced their support for George and I. Knowing that there are those who enjoy having us around means alot.

Oh, and Racerrod,
If they keep Doug it will remind everyone of the old Tri-City and I don't think we all want that??
it's nice to be remembered. For me, it's a warm, fuzzy feeling. Let me know when you've done something worth remembering. Then we can compare notes.

For the record, due to other commitments I cannot work a regular Sunday night show.

Thanks for the thought. I appreciate it. Good luck to Doug & George.

After all the UMP bashing Doug has done on this forum I figured he would quit when the track went UMP. What happened to the SPEC engines?

00BusDriver, I re-thought my stance when the new management team took over last year. It was with guarded optimism I started last season, and with the acquisition of Xtreme late in the season, that guarded optimism has turned into mild excitement for 2005. I still see the SPEC as a possibility, for the lower budgeted racers still need a place to be competitive. Maybe the Ironman division will turn into that saving grace. We had a pretty good first year with them last year, and they are really easy to tech.
