2012....Lets show some support!!!

pure stocks like farmington would be a good ideal to keep because malden and the bluff cars could run but if the new class your talking about is the factory stock like belle clair and granite , that would probably work out to be good also because they will be at i55 in 2012 full time and i am currently building several new chassis for customers who said they would run at the rock and i55and this class is much more affordable then farms purestock so just run both, body rules and engine rules are alot different so it makes it affordable again without a guy starting in the 4cyl. both classes would work. different tires also by the way. Terry Flanigan was a heck of a guy, like to see him around again, Curly and Ann are great for just trying to make an attempt that none of us have!JMO BRIAN WORLEY

some tracks in arkansas run streets only and survive , i have two cars at a track that run factory stock, pure stock, street stock, southern stock andmini stock every weekend , that their classes and in this economy it works , they ran mods 4 times that was it for 500 to win. the car counts were only in the teens but it gave everybody a class to run in the area and if you didnt like the rules you could move up or down a class easily and the track didnt lose a car count

Thank you Brian!! I just bought a car this week..I have spoken to Curley personally for an hour and a half, and gotten return calls from Ann when I called and left a message... I think youd call that COMMUNICATION, as Tony stated earlier. Cheap affordable racing, family oriented, just what some of us need in this economy!! Thanks for giving the less fortunate a cheaper class to run!! Heres to a good year of racing!! Yes the purestocks will be the headlining class in 2012. Not ideal, but with tracks closing everywhere, its a good choice.. If Pevely is going to it, they must see the $ advantage...Just sayin!! ;)

all i can say jason is when i need to get ahold of cory he answers the phone he also doesnt screw over a class that keep there car count up and i havnt seen one post on this thread from curly or ann just people saying that they talked to him why havent they had a meeting he wants to start a new class needs to b put out there by the track not hear say but who cares lets watch and c how long it stays open i give it 4 weeks how long is people going to spend there money watching 4 classes of cars with if u r lucky a 6 car feature

Funny thing Allied knows nothing of this. Pevely had a rough year and is TRYING these cars. Ever hear the term stupid is as stupid does? I hope the best for the ROCK and all tracks. Just dont see this as a good idea and Curly and Ann supposedly talking to one person does not show decent communication skill! Sorry. TP

jmo and a ideal to pass on is run farmington pure stock rules and purse ,factory stock (allied) purse, pro 4,and jr 4cyl and you have 4 classes possible vintage or go karts every now and then or whatever for another class every now and then and your four main classes as mentioned will make the purse through the pit gate and concessions and grand stands should cover the rest with possible profit but just my opinion ,that keeps your purses normal for those classes without being costly in that dept for the track. but i could be wrong. lets hope it opens first!

The reason to go to purestock rules, ie Belleville rules, is to lower the cost of the cars. That being said, the rest of this isnt aimed at you...... Farmington rules have been evolving slowly toward a sportsmen car on step at a time. Its happened this way twice since 1987 whne I started going there. You enter upon the scene with an affordable stock type chassis, and body, then you have one new part or rule changed every year or two.. Who makes these suggestions? The guys running the cars... What happens? in 5 to 10 years you have a class that is totally different than what it was originally, and most evryone who started the class in the early days, can no longer afford to run due to increase in costs. Hence the class dies.. Case in point sportsman/limited latemodels from the 80's and early 90's. If you werent there to see it dont comment!!!!Then the streetstock class that started in the 90's. Ask John Bohn how close to stock his ugly white Chevelle was that first year?? Then, came aftermarket this, and modified that, and then aftermarket bodies, then conversion to sportsmen to attract more cars from Pevely. Why? because they were losing car count.....Why? because the racers were out dollaring themselves, and going broke, or not being able to compete with guys that could spend the $$. Therefore the class died....Thats 2 sportsman classes in since 88 that went by the wayside do to NOT sticking to a set of rules.. Whos to blame? The track or the racers?? Both!! Has allied had this problem with the purestock class?? Not yet... Why? the rules remain the rules with very little variation. i remeber watching these cars in the 90's at Belleville... Same basic class, good shows, good car count...

So... You ask why Im for this already established class, that has a good opportunity to thrive here and other places??? Well duh!!! And Brian... you are going to build cars regardless of either rule set.. But... wouldnt you like for it to be a class that wont fizzle out in 5 years?? Hence you can continue to put cars out again , and again , and again... I dont know bout you, but if I were building cars, thats what Id want... Check the rules for both ul see where the purestreet class is headed if they dont STOP!!! Sportsman bodies??? Come on!!! Even the tracks that created the class refuse to allow that!! Wake up SFCR.. Dont repeat history... Jason Brewington

JUST adding my opinion because the pure stock from farm is already established and the purse is not big ,but i agree every class is out of control! five i like the stock body rule but as a builder anyone that builds mutiple cars will tell you its twice as much work to build a car with stock fire wall ,floor pan and body and with scrap so high it cost more for stock body than an aluminum one if you do it yourself. . 6 sheets of aluminum $300 to do aftermarket yourself and rivets steel body average $500 and torch bottles filled $200 but those who have money will spend it no matter what class your in,JMO! So add a couple different street classes and then you can race with what you have and leaves more options which means more cars.

curly was hard to get ahold of before he bought the track lol! jason i think every track should have a class with allied pure stock or granite city rules.

i am going to comment because u have no ideal what u r talking about jason i started in a pure street in 2003 the only changes that has been made is floater rearend and went from pulling 17 inchs of vacuum to 15 and as far as the bodys go good luck finding one i understand why they allowed the changed the body as far as cost between the two classes 4 emods will cost u more than it will cost me to run 4 cars on asphalt take offs and building a motor for the class will b the same u think it is cheaper u r wrong the chassis is the same all i c is a few people that wants to start a new class and get rid of the faster cars so they can go race there war wagons and maybe win them a feature in a street stock wrong again if the good cars from up north come down if u r not spending some good money and have top of the line stuff u r not even going to have a fighting chance

JMO!! But why would it make any sense for a "struggling track" to start off with a new class to the area as a main class? I would think it would be wise to run a class that is already established, and are local. If you make the new class the "headliner" and you only draw 6 cars your defeating the purpose. Plus with the economy so bad, who has the extra money to build a new class car??? Don't get me wrong a new class is good, but you can't bank your car count on an unknown. I think it would be smart to add the class plus run the already established class. Keep the rules the same as in 2010 and then the track may be a success!! As far as building a new chassis it's gonna cost about the same, springs shocks same to, as far as the engine it's real close!! Tires are cheaper in pure street because not everybody is gonna buy used e-mods! Both cars are gonna cost the same to maintain, such as oilchanges ect. As far as evolving my car hasn't changed since I built it in 2001 and so is Bill Skaggs' That's JMO Chris Boyd #3 pure street

I have read all the posts and I would like to weigh in on this debate. Back in 1998 I brought the pure stock class to Fredericktown. I was told then that this class would not work. It has not only worked but has survived in the area for years. Albeit not what it was when it started. This class has a lot of promise. There are some 4 cylinder guys who will move up and some of the existing pure stock guys will most likely move down. I myself desperately want to race again but with the current economic state and the high cost of racing in the current pure stock class I have been forced out. Most of the cars that will be competing in this class I would say would not be new builds. But will be older cars that have been parked. Remember this is intended for the lower budget racer. I would not be afraid to put a car together just based on Fredericktown opening or not. Or even surviving a full year. Because Doe Run has already proposed this class. (Econostocks) Earlier this year when Benton MO racetrack was talking about opening they proposed this class. And there was a lot of excitement and guys talking about getting back into racing. If it goes over like I expect it to you can count on places like the Bluff adding them.

One good thing about this class is you can't hardly go anywhere that you don't see these cars out in back yards or fence rows. They will now be competitive again.

I ran pure stocks my entire career. Over 20 yrs and I can tell you what I brought to Fredericktown in 1998 and what is running now are radically different. No comparison in engines, suspensions, budget etc.

Exactly Danny... Used cars, being reconditioned.. Its not only cheaper..ITS GREEN!!! We are saving the environment!!! Just like the old racers did. ;)
