Belle Clair Fri - What did you think?

no, mutt they are not. they are a second a lap different. you are correct, that they dont time trial anymore. i base all of this on macon's lap times, because the tracks are nearly identical...within 10 ft in length of ea. other.the last time the midgets qualified was at macon about 5 yrs ago, and the track record for a midget is 10.35 seconds.
but you can't judge by just 2 tracks and make a judgement like that

I looked at the Powri trailer on Friday. Mybe they qualify in hot laps because they had times posted. The top midget was 10.55 and the top micro was 10.58....if I remember right.

mike. each car is equipped with a transponder, so it will record the times. i do not know if they group the heats by speed, or by draw.

Actually if the fatsest midget ran 10.55 thats alot faster then the late models. I believe the track record for late models is still a 12.234 ( not exact but close) held by Rodney Melvin.

hey mutt; even if you would be correct(which i assure you, you are not) even 1/2 second diff ON ANY TRACK, ANY TYPE OF CAR is huge. argue all you want, heck, even the jap motor micros are(about) a second a lap faster than the lm's. i will stick by my statements, because i simply know i am right.

I think it is also in the low 11's for the LM....hell, I was turning laps of low 12's in the test a couple weeks ago.

Belle Clair web site shows Late Model record of 11.260, set by Rodney Melvin on June 20, 2004

11.26? thats impressive. really. but consider kenny schrader was doing those lap times in a midget 30 years ago. in fact, schrader holds the t/r for a midget at 11.24. the last time the midgets qualified at bc was 1981 or 82. a midget hot lapping will be in the 10.50's, as stated earlier. i can guarantee they will be faster qualifying. so, mutt.. answer that.

Bel Clair

here's an idea for you ,class of your choice with a big pay out, midgets and micros on saturdays or sundays?

This post was not about track record or which class is faster. All it was about was what a good night of racing Friday was and how people liked it. The classes were a little different than a normal POWRi show and that made it different. Leave it at that.
