At yesterday's Drivers Meeting, NASCAR reiterated the rule about passing under the yellow line and provided the same information to all drivers and crew chiefs in a hand out, as we've done in past Daytona and Talladega races. The verbatim language is:
"This is your warning: race above the yellow line. If, in NASCAR'S judgment, you go below the yellow line to improve your position, you will be black-flagged. If in NASCAR's judgment you force someone below the yellow line (in an effort to stop him from passing you), you may be black-flagged."

Helton went on to say that Regan was not forced below the line, he went below it on his own. What race was he watching? I just watched it again on youtube and paid particular attention to when Smith went below the line, and it clearly was when Tony came down on him when he had the RF bumper on his car alongside Tony's LR bumper. Tony even admitted after the race he blocked the line to keep Smith from passing him for the win. I don't see how Nascar can be any more biased in their ruling, they didn't black flag Stewart for deliberately cuttting Smith off and forcing him below the yellow line, and they penalize Smith for passing Tony below the line.
I agree about consistency. The only thing Nascar is ever consistent on with these rulings is favoring the stars.
