Hornets back at highland next year?

Well first off this wasnt for a bash session or to vent. I just wanna know how many guys and kids would wanna run back at highland because for what we were getting paid for the past 10 years at highland we were the best supporting class period. I am gonna work really hard on keeping these cars as stock as possible and fair because im not gonna race I want it back. I went to highland the past 4 or whatever years since they left and the fans started dieing off as well. Ya I know its alot to do with same ole shit same ole winners every night at least the hornets brought that drama and swag into the stands and pits. The money aspect of what people put in there cars is plan ignorant after all said and done a good competive car should avg between 1500 and 2000. Thats with everything included. I agree with keeping the micros even though highland is to big for those cars most nights there single file and not much excitement plus noone really knows who drives those cars. Id be willing to give a hand any chance I have if people want help or have any ? About the class as I ran it for 10 years myself and my goodness I wasnt the best out there by far. I really hope people take in consideration of the younger high school kids and college kids that would be looking to get into it if we can get them back. So I hope if you guys wanna get them back you will help me get the word out and push to let highland know we can clean this class up no outsider bs.

I agree with you convict18. I'm all for bringing the younger crowd out. They are the future of this sport and I want it to be still around for a long time

I apologize for showing my ignorance just as much as you did Faust fan. You're saying the micros are "suppose to" bring in the fans? I'm no fortune teller, but I assure you 5 hornets will not bring in 200 fans. Every class needs to bring in more fans. We need some rivalries, racing is an entertainment industry. Show more entertainment to the fans. Make them want to come to the track instead of reading updates on the Internet. I also think the days of weekly racing are finished. Bi weekly is more realistic for the promoters and still enough racing for the drivers. And saves some money for the fans and builds their desire to go the next time. Maybe tracks could work together and alternate weekends.
My final point. Don't hate on our class when normally (more than average) we have great car counts. A racecar is a racecar and people want to see great racing that's what they pay for. So Faust fan come see my weed eater I'd love to meet you
I never once said they didnt have the car count to supoort them. I said they was brought in to hopefully bring in the fans and it didnt work. Also i never once said i wanted the hornets back. I said if you can keep it under control and eliminate the adults who have ruined this class im all for it. I myself cant see how the tracks can justifie running this class at all when only 5 to 8 cars show up a night. Tri City had a $1000 to win not long ago and not many showed up. If my memory serves me right i think 12 showed up. I may be wrong on that. Until you can get a kid involved in it and keep it affordable that class is a cooked duck! A kid going to school and working at a place like Mcdonalds cant afford a $3500 hornet, thays why the car count has dropped! Keep the class under control and just maybe these kids will get back into it. You can buy a car for $500/ $600 all day long and put a $300 cage in it and go racing and have fun doing it but this crap they have now is rediculious.

Build a competitive b-mod and then tell me how much money u have in it believe me it's not cheaper.... Faust fan u have a lot of comments that r dumb... until u build a car whatever it might be or start promoting a track u really should keep somethings u say in ur pocket....
Opinions are like assholes everybody has one! I have a street stock that i have over $13,000 invested in and its not even on the track yet! So tell me how that is affordable? Rob Shaw has a b-mod he has less than $7,000 in and give him more seat time and he can be competitive with his car! So tell me again how a b-mod is more expensive than a street stock? Do i think they need to control the street stocks? Absolutely, but how do you do it?

13,000 in a street stock?!?!? That's ridiculous
I dont disagree one bit! Thats my point...how do you control it to make it more affordable? Thats also what im trying to say about the hornets! Theres guys out there right now in that class that have a motor that cost over $2500 to build! How can a high school kid afford that! Convict18 keeps saying sponsers sponsers sponsers.....i get it that you need sponsers but be honest with yourself, who wants to throw that kind of sponsership money out there for a class that is supposed to be a beginner class? I know if i was a business owner i wouldnt! I think before you start bringing a class in or back you need to have a solid program on how you are going to keep it affordable for the beginner! Until.you can do that and prove you can do it your wasting your time.

Kids in pro 4? My kid will run karts of some form and a real race car when they are old enough. Pro 4 won't even be and option.

What class is taking the new guys in? Street stock? Pro 4 or b mod? That is the real question

us racers been beating this dead horse for as long as I have been driving (50 + years) and the only thing that changes is the car count IT GOES DOWN -- -- re: the B Mods the motor rule should have followed the ALLIED sportsman motor rules -- but then that's my opinion that and a buck will get ya a coffie some where

There is a lot of different issues with the class. Actually sit down and read the rule book as it was suppose to be written. Every car out there is illegal. Yes there needs to be more tech in the class but how is one tech guy going to know 10 different cars and what is oem for that make and model. Not only that but how to identify the parts. Yes there is a lot of stretching of the rules going on. The older guys racing the class maybe that is all they can afford to race. They have familys to take care of and at least they are out having fun doing what they like. Its not like the tracks are paying us a lot to race or win. I agree something needs to be done but what and how. I will help the class in anyway I can.

You hit the nail on the head for me. I quit racing modifieds in 2001 when I had $5k in my WHOLE car racing against guys with 10 to 15k in their engines. Hornets are all I can AFFORD. I can build a car myself for $1500 to $2000 and win my fair share but do not dominate by any means.
