Hypothetical question for sportsman racers

I LIKE ALLIED SPORTSMAN RULES, BUT WITH A FEW CHANGES.

1. I'D GO WITH E-MODS. IF YOU CAN AFFORD A NEW SS TIRE YOU CAN AFFORD A E-MOD. 1" WIDER ONLY DIFFERENCE. LIKE SUNOCO SAID USED E-MODS ARE READILY AVAILABLE. GOOD USED SS TIRES ARE ALMOST UNHEARD OF. SO, THE GUYS BUYING NEW WILL STILL BUY NEW. BUT, THE GUYS NOT BUYING NEW WILL HAVE BETTER RESOURCES TO GOOD USED ONES, INSTEAD OF RUNNING TIRES THAT SHOULD HAVE LONG SINCE BEEN TRASHED.

2. BERTS OR BRINNS???? MAYBE! LIKE SUNOCO SAID AGAIN, IF THEY ARE GONNA ALLOW THESE WHAMMY JAMMY CLUTCH ASSEMBLIES, BY THE TIME YOU'RE DONE WITH EVERYTHING, YOU ARE CLOSE IN COST. SO, IF NO BERTS OR BRINNS, HAVE A STRICT STOCK CLUTCH RULE.

3. THE FRAME RULE. ALLOW ANY MOTOR ANY FRAME.

4. ALLOW AFTERMARKET HEADS. DARTS, VORTEC, JUST PUT LIMITS ON VALVE SIZES AND SUCH.

5. I LIKE ALLOWING FLOATERS. THE PRICES DIFFERENCE IS MONEY WELL SPENT FOR THE SAFETY FACTOR. BROKEN AXELS DON'T SEND WHEELS FLYING OFF, POSSIBLY GOING INTO THE STANDS OR PIT AREA. NOT TO MENTION TEARING UP THE CAR EVEN MORE.

I think the Drifter has got it pretty well:
keep the heads on somewhat small valves, and 23 deg.
bodies, whatever within reason
Bert/Brinn
either lower all the wieghts, or make no weight breaks for cubes, and only for stock 4 link, still lower all the wieghts.

A light car and a heavy car have all the same bolt on components, and a sprotsman car can be built safely and with good % way under the current rules. Making the cars so heavy only causes more damage and risk of injury when they crash.

As far as chassis go most tracks are really close. Only thing that could help is allow clip cars and let the frame cars cut theirs like a mod. No birdcages and no coil eliminators, this basicly limits you to 3 link or stack leaf. 108 wheelbase 2800lbs . I think you would see a few old mods converted as a low buck alternitive. As far as engines go 360 cube max or no limit? If you are going to go with wieght breaks ya might as well go with a limit, either way ya have to check em. All Allied needs to do now is allow aftermarket heads and any intake, but I don't see it happening. I think the biggest hurdle in getting uniform rules will be promoters that don't want to share cars.

SPORTSMAN RULES

EVERYONE MAKES GOOD POINTS AND ALL OF THESE SUGGESTIONS WOULD MAKE THE CARS BETTER. NO DOUBT.
BUT YOU WOULD END UP WITH RULE BOOK AS THICK AS A
BIBLE, AND TECH WOULD BE A NIGHTMARE.
I BELIEVE THAT THE ONLY WAY TO HAVE A UNIFIED SET OF
RULES, WOULD BE TO HAVE AS FEW RULES AS POSSIBLE.
WITH THE EXCEPTION OF A FEW BASIC RULES, PUT THE CARS ON
E-MODS, AND RUN WHAT YA BRUNG. REMEMBER, THE TIRE IS THE GREAT EQUILIZER, ASK ANY BODY WITH A MODIFIED.
.GOING TO THIS FORMAT WOULD, IN MY OPINION SAVE RACERS
MONEY BY NOT HAVING TO BUCK UP FOR TWO OR THREE MORE
RULE CHANGES TO GET TO THIS POINT ANYWAY. I WELCOME YOUR REPLIES.

THANX

Your right Rick.

When it comes to rules use the old KISS method.

Keep It Simple Stupid.

Make's it easier for everyone concerned.
