Well, my guys are not calling Momma back home in Illinois and she's getting mad. I have to find out things from searching on Facebook. It's almost 9:30 p.m. You'd think they'd know something by now!
Caitlyn Eilers posted on Facebook that Robbie had electrical malfunction at start of his heat race so he was done for night. Bummer!!!

Maybe bad news for the #19. Caitlyn Eilers just answered me back with this..."Jimmy got caught up in an accident and a guy was hooked too his rear left tire if I remember right and got a flat then pulled off after they were separated." That doesn't sound at all good. Big bummer!

OK, here's the story, or stories.

Jimmy didn't even get one complete lap in. The guy in front of him went crazy, about hit the wall, Jimmy checked up to not hit him and the guy behind Jimmy didn't even see it or care to see it and plowed into Jimmy so far that he was stuck up under Jimmy's rear tire and frame. They had to pull them apart, which of course wasn't good for Jimmy's car. He had 2 flat tires, rear and front. He went in and changed the rear tire, came back out to the rear, but ran with a flat/low front tire until he finally pulled in. He gets $150.00 tow money. They are on their way home now.
Bruce is upset because in the 2 years that they have gone to Humboldt, the same thing has happened and they haven't been able to see how Jimmy would do racing the BIG race. Sucks that dumb drivers can put you out just like that in the 1st lap. But, hey, that's racing, isn't it. The sport we all know and love, right?

Steve Maisel had been having "coughing and gagging problems" (as Bruce said) with his car all day. They were changing all kinds of stuff but couldn't get it resolved. He did not go out tonight at all, hence the expletives in Shad's text message.

Robbie Eilers developed a miss, something about the on/off switch for the battery. They found it after the race. Something small and insignificant until it's becomes HUGE and destroys your night.

Doug Tye actually made the non-qualifiers race and finished 10th! Good for Doug!

You just get your hopes up so high that they can do well and make the cut, only to have stupid mechanical stuff and/or stupid other drivers spoil your chances and wreck your hopes. But it's a competition against yourself as well as other drivers. You learn stuff from each outing, you decide if you can cope with the insanity and uncertainty of the sport, and then you go home and fix it all up and try again. I do believe that is the definition of insanity. But I love it! I'm definitely nuts!

I'll bet Jimmy goes back next year and I'll doggy-sit Boon again. See what I mean? Nuts!
