Jimmy Cummins' 5th Trip to Humboldt Speedway and the "King of America" Race 2019

Just got a report from Jimmy...He says he started 6th in his first heat race, got smashed into the wall on the start, got up to 3rd in one lap but got black-flagged for a flat LF. Bent j-bar and both right side beadlocks. He's ready for Heat 2.

Then he said Wallace has engine problems and 24H crashed in his Heat 2-A.

This has to get better!!!!

2nd group of B-Mod Heat race results:

81 Tom Rorabacher finished 10th in Heat 3-B, started 12th

19 Jimmy Cummins finished 3rd in Heat 4-B, started 6th (Finally, some good news!!!)

4 more heat races to get some more news....

Remainder of 2nd group of B-Mod Heat results:

18 JC Morton WON his Heat 8-B, started 6th

4DT Doug Tye finished 5th in Heat 8-B, started 3rd

23 Darron Forrest finished 9th in Heat 8-B, started 4th

Now just the A-Mod second heats to go, heats 5 + 6 for Harrison and Wallace

A-Mod results for 24H and 36...

24H is scored as 12th, but he never started the race. Header problems from the wreck in the first heat race. Bummer!

36 led most of his heat race, but got passed for the lead on the last lap or so. Kenny finished 2nd. They found the problem with the motor and fixed it before the heat race, some kind of oil leak. It was fine after that.

Bruce says they are watching the weather for tomorrow...rain is forecast for part of the day there. Jimmy sounded happy when he showed up back at the trailer when I was talking to Bruce. Now I guess we wait and see what tomorrow brings and how many races they have to go through to get into the big one, if they do. Top 12 are supposed to be determined after tonight, best 3 of the 4 heat races count. Then they go through the extra races to get there.

Just sitting here waiting for the action to start up. Mike Harrison left to come back home, fix his car up so he can race Highland tonight, if all goes well. I saw on Facebook that Kenny Wallace is making videos at a local coffeehouse about his upcoming night of racing at Humboldt. I don't know why Bruce never told me about that cute coffeehouse/diner in downtown Humboldt! It really looks nice! Guess that's because he cleans our house out of pre-cooked food (by me) so he and Jimmy can eat well while racing. This year he took sliced ham for sandwiches, roast beef and baking potatoes, pulled pork and slaw, homemade vegetable beef soup, brats for BBQing, and oatmeal/chocolate chip cookies that Evan and I made. Left me with no food! That's OK, I can call Papa Vito's Pizza in Waterloo and have delicious food delivered right to my door! Ha!

The dogs are being good, only one major skirmish over food bowls on Thursday night. Other than that, no problems. They've been watching me work in the flowerbeds and cleaning up the yard. They are not much help. Although they do get me up at dawn for their first of the day trip outside. Dang, the newspaper wasn't even delivered yet!

Jimmy just sent me a text that said the track said they are racing! He said it has been raining on and off all day. Good Luck to everybody tonight! Stay safe and race smart!

Tom Rorabacher started 5th in the Last Chance Qualifier Race 1, 12 laps. He finished 10th. He's done. Top 4 go to the Last Chance Race 1, tagging on at the end, making a 22 car field..

Darron Forrest started 12th in the Last Chance Race 1, 20 laps. He finished 6th. He's done.

Jimmy Cummins started 8th in the Last Chance Race 2, 20 laps. He finished 3rd!!!! He goes on to the C Main! Top 5 go to the C Main, tagging on to the end, making a 22 car field for a 20 lap race. Jimmy will start 18th. They take 12 to the B Main.

Doug Tye started 17th in the Last chance Race 2 (same race as Jimmy). He finished 10th. He's done.

Kenny Wallace started 5th in the A-Mod C Main. He finished 6th. They took the top 12 to the B Main, so he made it to the B Main where he will start 18th.

JC Morton starts the B Main on the pole, Jimmy Cummins starts 21st. Probably top 10 to the A Main with 4 provisionals (maybe).

Kenny Wallace finished 12th in the B Main. He starts 24th in the A Main.

Jimmy Cummins started 21st in the B Main and finished 12th. For the life of me I can't figure out why he is not in the A Main.

JC Morton finished 14th in the B Main, Kale Westover finished 19th in the B Main, and Dan Wheeler finished 11th in the Last Chance #1 race but they made the A Main. I'm a little (no, make that a whole lot) upset right now.

Regardless, Way to go Jimmy Cummins!!!! You did a fantastic job with the #19

You know what is good sportsmanship? JC Morton broke his distributor in the B Main race and Jimmy loaned him his spare for the A Main. Jimmy is not here so he can't tell me not to post this, but that is going above and beyond in my book. Right now I'm still really really mad but very proud of my son.

Actually, JC Morton finished 6th, but QQ Tony Bahr was DQ'd, so JC was scored as finishing 5th. Congrats to JC Morton for making it all the way from 23rd to 6th place, and then 5th. That is quite a run! Congrats to the Morton Team!

Kenny Wallace went from 24th to 5th in the A Main for the A mods. Congrats Kenny!

Jimmy and Bruce are about to Columbia, MO now. They stopped outside of Kansas City at a truck stop rest area for a nap. Gotta save that money for racing and not spend it on a hotel room for another night. Will be home soon.
