That would be Annie Cheatham at the Lake Hill Speedway in 1963. She was racing against men and women and she got put up on her nose by George Simms... After that inncident, she got into another car and went on to finish the race.

My grandfather used to work at the track and is really looking forward to attending the reunion night.

2 Weeks !!!!!!

Time is flying by !!! We have two weeks until the reunion and we're frantically cleaning and clearing. The place is looking good, but we still have a lot of little cleanup items to take care of.

This Saturday and Sunday (Nov. 10 & 11) we will be out there working all day. If anyone can lend a hand, it would sure be appreciated. Here is a short list of some of the things we need help with:
- finish retaining wall on track
- stack old blocks so we can move them out of the way
- sweep and spray down the old building pads (they are full of dirt)
- sweep out the ticket booth
- pickup rocks and branches from the parking areas
- paint the bridge guard rails and sweep the deck
- install a door on the ticket booth
- clean out blocks and dirt from the concession area
- paint the flag stand
- clean mud from around the guard rails on the track infield
- pickup branches and debris from the track

Please call if you have any questions, need directions, or have any suggestions. Any help is greatly appreciated. And I am sure all of the fans who can't make it out send their thanks too!!!!!!!

In Valley Park: From 141 and I-44 take Forest Ave (across from Vance Road) past Schrader Automotive to the Stop sign turn right over the creek bridge.
The gate will be unlocked Sat and Sunday for those who want to come out and help with general clean up. Thanks again.

I went out to the track today and removed some of the old tires some of you guys left behind some many years ago. There are a lot left and I will get them Saturday. Hats off to KEG and ALL who have helped out in geting the place ready. Those of you that have not been there in a long time, you will be amazed how the place looks after being under water for so long. Please come out this weekend and help out. Dont let another track go away with out trying to save it. The short time I have been involved with this, The storys amaze me. How can anyone let a track that has been around since the early 1900's just go away with out a fight? This will be some kinda party.

Urgent Help Needed

We had a really good day at the track. Lots got cleaned up and it's looking pretty good. But there is still a lot of stuff to pickup in the parking areas.

But the real concern is electricity for the event. We're down to the last two weeks and we're held up by trees. Seems we have three trees near the house that have to be removed so Ameren can string the wire. We had plans to get this done, but it fell through.

Can anyone help with tree removal? We just need to drop the branches to a point below the electric lines. But it is a difficult situation with other nearby electric wires and the house being close.

Without the trees removed, we'll still have a party, but it will be mighty quiet!

Volunteer Names

We putting together a list of the volunteers who have helped prepare the track for the big event. I think we have most every name, but don't want to miss anyone. If you have been at the track to help, please e-mail or call me with your name so I can be sure you are recognized.
