Lake Hill Speedway?

yes.......

You've got to love the caption under the picture: "Dandy Don Klein, fun-loving, beer drinking stock car driver.":D:cool:
Yep gotta love it, but it would Never fly in todays pc world.

Date & Time?

Please let me know the exact date and time of this reunion. Thank You very much! Can't wait to see everyone!:D

i am right there with ya,coupe fan! some people take their stupidity to new levels...if ignorance could fly, this guy would be an airline all by himself. don klein is a legend, and is still competitive after all of his years. that is not the definition of a 'has-been'.

Some folks just aren't taught to respect their elders, like him or not, Klein's accomplishments speak for themselves!!!!

The St. Louis Region, Sports Car Club of America held a road rally today in and around St. Charles.

The talk after the event was about who was going to the Lake Hill Reunion.

We all appreciate racing no matter what flavor it is!

Did anyone catch the mention on KMOX this morning?

directions please?

I was only 7 when I was last taken to see racing at Lake Hill can someone give me directions to the track for the reunion? Is it close to Lone Elk Park? I am familiar with the STL area. Thanks in advance.

Hey, how come Don Klein's name keeps appearing on top? :D

BTW, we had an awesome time at Lake Hill Speedway this past weekend. Lots of volunteers MADE THINGS HAPPEN!!! We have a roof on the concession stand! (but we still need shingles put on) We have the trees cleared to make way for electric service (so we can play some tunes) AND we have a paved parking lot, so rain or shine - BE THERE!

Saturday, November 24th 10 am till dark.

One more thing. If anyone planning to attend (or if you know someone who is coming) and they have special needs, let me know. We will save some parking close in and may be able to help with other things. While there are limits to what we can do, we don't want anyone to miss the reunion for fear of getting around.

Can Trista Stevenson bring her asphalt late model? She would love to take a few laps around some people she knows! Kenny Stevenson 618-558-8961

S. O. S.
Can some one please help me with the roof on the concession stand? The roof will be ready for shingles tomarrow and are there on site just begging to be put up. All that needs to be done is put the rest of the paper down & put the shingles on? I can not make it back till Thursday due to work but I WILL be there Thursday (Yes Thanksgiving) in the morring. Just for a few hours is all I ask unless you can stop by Tuesday or Wednesday and finsh it up. Every thing you will need is there. If you can I thank you and Im shure KEG thanks you 2

It's great to see so much effort going into this reunion. If we had more track owners put forth this kind of efforts on tracks that are currently in operation, we might not have to bury one every couple of years.

Thats 100% right on it. Just keep in mind ths is all for a 1 day deal. It is all on you guys and myself to do all we can to keep this track from going to the dozer and condo's. So when you show up keep in mind that the track was all woods and a lake just 6 mounths ago. you could not even walk though there. So a hats off to all the people that are making this happen.:D

Directions to Lake Hill

From I-44:
Take 141 north across the Meramec River and under the railroad tracks to Forest Ave. Go right on Forest Ave. about one half mile to a stop sign with the one-lane bridge on the right - and you're there.

From I-270:
Take the Dougherty Ferry exit and go west about 2 miles (1/2 mile past Big Bend). When you go by the Enchanted Forest Condominiums the one-lane bridge is on your left at the stop sign.

We should have signs and banners out at the bridge, so you'll be able to see it easily.

I'm so bummed that I just found out about this today! I would love to have been a part of the resurrection of the track. I'm really looking forward to meeting some of you and being a part of St.Louis motorsports history.

I'm not really a stock car racing guy but I love grass roots motorsports and especially the "brotherhood" of stock car folks. My uncle used to take me to Belle-clair in the late 70's and early 80's and some of the names mentioned above are coming back to me through the haze of old memories. This motivates me to make the 2 mile drive down to the Belle-clair fairgrounds on a friday night next season and catch up to what I've missed for so long!

What are the plans for the facility after the reunion? I love the idea of go-kart racing and you could always rent it for car shows, club partys and cruises. What a great location for a rat-rod event like the "hunert car pileup"!

I'm excited to hear some of the stories from those who raced there!

Here are some pics from Bob Miner... enjoy. The one with the American Flag has Bob Mueller by the #1 racecar and Larry Phillips by his #0 in the background with his cowboy hat on.

Here is a map with the directions to Lake Hill. What has happened there in the last week is unbelievable. People showed up to help that we didn't even ask. Krupp dumped twenty tons of asphalt on the track and filled in all the holes from the trees we pulled out. The track has been swept by KEG. He looked like someone who had raced 500 miles in the Baja when he was done, but he got 'er done. The concession stand and ticket booth are painted.
There is still lots to do but this has gone way, way further than just draining the track and clearing some brush. I'll try and post some pics tomorrow to show sequence of cleanup. It was a jungle when we started. If you miss the event I will feel badly for you.
