late model tire rules?

Al I most definitely pay for my own tires between my father and I or from winnings the car brings in.. And I cut them mount them clean them.. Ect... My argument isn't a argument nor am I disagreeing with u I believe there's a fix and all 40s does cut costs I just don't think a all 40 rule works with out testing... I'd rather see them tech this set of rules then switch to all 40 and say we can't afford to tech... That's my point prepping is a cancer it only gets worse with looser rules I beg you don't sit here and argue with me just go to bedrock and see... If you don't think going all 40 with no teching or durometer rule will increase prepping your kidding yourself... It will most Definitly increase prepping!

easy bays rule for speed Weeks was had to practice qualify and heat race on same tires this is a far better rule if you adjust it for a local program by saying the tires you choose for the heat race has to be your feature tire back to my point with the same rr all night long forces a hard tire not a prepped hard tire that's actually soft...

Also Al you still haven't answer the only question I've asked all along what's the difference between having 8 40's two sets prepped different (one for mud one for slick) and having 4 20's and 4 40's unprepped??? Please this has been my only question all along.. I only see more costs to compete with those already unscared to prep and even more of a reason to do it to compete with those individuals...

Daryn I think Al is tring to make is who says those 20's and 40's aren't preped already... Why not run against one compound then.. The cheaters are already cheating.. So why not eliminate on tire compound.

You're asking a hypothetical that's has no basis in fact. A better question is would guys like Vince Gronzki, Richie Standridge, Trevor Thornton etc etc etc like to see one compound? The answer is yes. They could carry half the tires and have around 600 to 900 less cash needed to get on the track. Regardless of what you say most local guys don't prep and wouldn't prep if a tire compound was eliminated. But you see ---Sammy and Brian Carter don't care about the guys listed above. They care only about their own pocketbooks and that should bother you and everyone else in racing.

Look, Sam didn't suspend me indefinitely because I called him a pussy. He did it because he was tired of me bitching about costs and tech and thought suspending me would shut me up. Well he mis-calculated!

Let me run my soft tires so I can hook up my Big Motor early or when its hammer down at feature time and not rely on my driving skills or experience... That seems to be the resistance and fear I'm reading into this. Who's NOT fast on a hooked up track???? Guys with smaller motors.

I say, Take the big horsepower AND ITS COST out of racing if you want to save our sport. How do you do this.... by putting hockey pucks on all of them and un-hooking the cars, test tires regular but random......then the drivers and not the $$$$$ decide..... and the racing will be better for the fans. It should no longer be about who is MORAL or IMMORAL and chooses to cheat or not...Or who can afford 800hp, $4000 Shock Pkgs, and 6 sticker tires every two nights. If we want WEEKLY LOCAL racing to continue you have to keep the average racer interested and priced in the market by giving him a fair chance. If we don't more will continue to walk away. Start catching and punishing HARSHLY those cheating and lets level up the playing field.

If they would mandate 40's on all 4 corners I do not see where that would ever be a problem. Daryn you keep talking about go kart racers prepping tires the reason they do is one reason only IT IS LEGAL for them to prep tires. In our sport it is not. I have seen classes run one compound of tires and I HAVE RAN THAT CLASS and guess what? it took the big money teams and made them competitive with the low budget teams. There was 30-35 cars every week in this class. Guess what they opened the tire rule up now they run anywhere from 12 - 20 cars. What does that tell you? Why would you have a set of prepped tires and a set of un-prepped tires when that is "not" legal? There is no added cost to have one of the pit guys come on the track and durometer tires before a race. Hell I have a durometer I will donate if they would actually use the damn thing. UMP DOES NOT TECH CARS PERIOD!!!!!!!!!! ANY CLASS!! Ask a lot of the other classes that are mandated to buy a UMP lic. they very very very very very very very very seldom if ever get checked for anything. ASK THEM!!!!

if your not going to have a durometer rule in tandum with the all 40 rule ( which I'm open to it this way ) then it won't work. Period. but you all got it all figured out no reason for me to beat a dead horse you all have a good one ....

I am curious of the 1 RR tire all night rule. I know Quincy was thinking of using this. Anyone doing this? Who would police it? And what if a heat winner/pole sitter had a flat and had to change it. Seems like you'd need a tech for every LM in the pits and a big fuss when someone "got a hole" in the tire b4 the feature.

And to Dirtmod, how would you feel finishing 2nd to a guy that told you he was doping tires? We ran IMCA late models for years(1 tire rule) and knew many guys that were cheating tires. Never felt the need to join them, but it really pissed me off when a guy beat me that I knew was cheating.

PEOPLE CHEAT HARD TIRES!!! It only takes 1 guy doing it to ruin the class.

if a track would take the top 5 every night or top 3 buy a durometer have an official check them, if news spread i bet car count would go up and theyd be $ ahead in long run...

Durometer will not catch the so called Un-Detectable stuff that was going around. I can 100% guarantee you that it does not soften the tire.

Blame member not Sam blame helfrich Earl and one other they are the ones that came up with the rules but its the track responsibility to enforce

I'm going to try this:

RR Tire Rule: 20 or 40 option.
The tire you choose to Hotlap/Qualify on will be the same tire used for the rest of the evenings events,
Heat Race, Dash, Semi & Feature. This tire will be marked after qualifying.
If you have a flat you will be able to change that tire but you will go to the tail of your next scheduled event.

By the way we have bought a "Sniffer" for the 2015 Season as well!

Thanks, Kevin

Sounds good Kev. But I think your rule should be: If you change the RR, you automatically go to the rear of the feature. The reason being, those who run the dash COULD change the RR PRIOR to the dash and still get a reasonable (Top 8) starting spot in the feature. That's a pretty decent trade off for a harder or newer tire.

King,

You go to the tail of your next scheduled event. You will NOT be allowed to change
compounds, if you have a flat and you are running a 20 you will replace it with a 20!

It also so put's a little bit of thought into it as well!
