micro sprints @ mcs

Not a good idea!

No matter what the circumstances are behind the multis not showing at MCS, Mel NEVER should have scheduled a special multi show on a Saturday night. The last time the multis raced at MCS it was a Sunday night show, AND a majority of the drivers were from Farmington. Since Farmington was planning on racing Saturday night (weather permitting), where did they expect to get their cars from? This close to the end of the season, most guys are still racing for points.

For the staff and management to get on here and bad mouth the multi drivers is pretty low. I also think if Mel was so upset about only one guy showing up, he should be considerate enough to refund their money and let them be on their way. That would be the nice thing to do. Don't make a big deal about one guy driving 120 miles to race when the staff wouldn't even refund his money. Special shows for multis should be on Sundays ONLY! They all have regular tracks they race at on Saturdays.

REFUND?

MEL COULD DO THE RIGHT THING AND MAIL A CHECK TO THE ONE MICRO THAT SHOWED - BUT HE WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO MAKE IT RIGHT TO THE 1000 OR SO FANS THAT PAID $15 DOLORS FOR A $10 SHOW////----- FIVE OF US DROVE FROM ST LOUIS TO WATCH THE SHOW/////////:

Aren't you folks coming down a bit hard on Mel? I mean the guy scheduled the event in good faith and just sometimes things just don't work out. It's really, really hard to cancel an event that has been publicized for a good while unless your just talking about something like a rain-out, but that's a different issue all together. Who knows who had already made plans on going to that show. Just because they had the "nationals," the "regionals" or the "neighborhood block races" doesn't mean you either will or will not have an adequate vehicle count. There is no way of knowing, especially when you are talking about a group of vehicles that are not a part of some sort of association or way of tracking what most of them are doing. I guarentee you that a number of racers told Mel they were coming and simply did not show up, thus leaving that one poor guy there to take the pain. The Multis are an outstanding group of racers and they always put on a good show. I hope Mel and the guys at MCS and the Multis can resolve this one-time bad incident and move on. It would be a shame to deprive the great fans at MCS watching the Multis because of one screw up.

Nothing personal Jeff, but screwing the one guy that did show up is no way to go about doing business. I can sympathize with Mel starting this thread to voice his displeasure at the total lack of turnout, but screwing somebody over for money is still screwing somebody over for money. I cant see any way to justify refusing to refund a single racers pit pass when the circumstances transpire that the guy isnt going to get on the track at all through no fault of his own. Thats the only reason they showed up, the only reason they paid to get in, and they got NOTHING for their money. They didnt even have any interest in staying to watch, they just wanted to go home.

Refund?

well we did some good if he is making it right with the one micro but we paid 15 bucks to watch a no show- mabe he can make that righ too? how about a $5 show Mel - then we can call it even

Millsey your wrong

Loudmouth the announcer contacted me and said he would refund our pitpass money out of his own pocket. While it's a nice gesture we told him it's the owners job to refund our money not his own personal cash.

Did MCS pay more out in all classes last Saturday night or was the added admission cost just because of the multis?

Never mind. I found the normal payout. They did pay more to the other classes. So the extra $5 was not just for the multis. Their regular classes got more. That's not so bad.

First of all, Mel is a great guy and I love MCS...people make mistakes, and appearently Mel made one here. The other classes only paid higher for the winner, everyone else got a normal payout, even though they paid an extra $5 to get in...Im not complaining, I got to see a really great show, with a huge turn out (due to half the tracks rained out), and it was well worth my extra $5, but to the drivers that came out, why was it only the winner that got the extra cash??? Mel should have refunded that guys money if he was the only one who showed, obviously he couldnt race, and if he wasn't sticking around to watch...refund the money...but, we do not have Mels side of the story on here either...Mel, you are doing a great job with this track, and its becoming one of the best, just becareful whos toes you step on today, it may be the ***** you'll have to kiss tomorrow...You are under a microscope, and if you want to get more of a turn out, more fans, racers, and classes, please be polite, everyone watches and hears of what goes on at MCS, and you want it to be good press, not bad...J/M/O

i dont see where i was non-proffessional in any of the statements made on BE-HALF of MCS...

and i can not be persicuted for the "in my opinion"
comment that i made...
basically if i was the promoter i sure would think twice about scheduling a group who dont show up...
much less not even the guy who scheduled the show...
much less not even a phone call to say het sorry its a no go...

i truely feel sorry for the one and only guy who showed up from a 120 miles away just to find out the rest of his class wasnt showing..!!! wow...
would you...????

<b>and with mel sitting next me i type the following on be-half of the
staff and management..."were not very happy"</b>

I beg to differ. It seems we do have Mel's side of this story.

Yes, that part about Mel "not being happy", true, none of us were, we all wanted to see the 600 multis too, but the rest of what is being said on this post has not had any input from the track owner, and I feel before everyone jumps to their own conclusions, give the man a chance...
