We lost the greatest track announcer ever in the St. Louis area today... RIP to our good buddy TTG..

We all will truly miss you Mike, but what I will miss the most is you asking me for a sloppy joe.
Prayers go out to Tina and your family.

Rip ttg :(

Our deepest condolences to the entire Meurer family and to the entire racing community whose heart he touched.

In my 20 years of being involved in racing, I have only spoken to Mike a handful of times. Those times however were fun and I always enjoyed the sound of his laughter. Mike had a very unique voice that resonated throughout the entire racing community, whether it be announcing races with enthusiasm, calming down two heated parties, or even instigating the group with a funny joke or prank. I know that other track announcers know how to do the job and some know how to do it well, but TTG set an impossible bar because there will never be another like him. I may upset a few folks on here by saying this, but I feel that we have lost the "Dale Earnhardt" of announcing.

God Speed TTG and I know that there was mic waiting for you. Use it to keep reminding us that life is too short for bickering and complaining amongst ourselves.

Not only was Mike a great announcer, he was also a true ambassador to the sport of auto racing. He was instumental in helping Suzie through a rough chapter in her life with just a quick smile or words of encouragement. Because of that Suzie really looked up to him. Our family will miss him greatly and we are proud to say that he was our friend. God speed, Mike! Heaven should be proud.

I am deeply saddened by this news. I have been absent from the St. Louis racing scene for a long time and just found out about Mike. Tina, My prayers are with you. If you need anything, I'll be happy to do what I can. It's very hard to believe that he is gone.......very hard.

Mike....The Talker Guy..........was and will always be the greatest dirt track announcer. I remember coming to Belle-Clair at the age of 5 and the first thing i told my dad was "I like that announcer, he's so cool!"

I use to get angry at the racetrack because where we always sat, the speaker never worked! I wanted to hear Mike, not the cars!

There are so many memories....like when Belle-Clair's speakers quit....I think someone cut the wires? Mike waited and and waited and waited and just when he's about to leave when the features were about to start...they finally brought in two speakers and a PA. It made the whole night better to at least hear him!

And Mike, may you rest in peace. I know you can't see my typing but, thank you. If it wasn't for Mike I am sure I wouldn't be where I am now. All of those years being his sidekick at Belle-Clair and filling in at I-55 set me on a path that lead to my Racing show and being involved in NASCAR. I have him to thank for it. He taught me many things, one of the most important was how to smile. Announcing is not an easy job, he did it with grace and precision.

I know you're listening up there Mike, so here's David Allen Coe for you, just one more time..................

RIP, your friend John

I also just found out about this, truly a great loss for the racing community. He as certainly entertaining to listen to at the track. Glad I had the opportunity to listen to him announce!

RIP Mike! My next trip to I55 certainly won't be the same.
