What is with the announcer at I-55?

Keep up the good work Mike, im sure by now you have learned that you cant keep everybody happy. lets keep it real for a minute, i heard John Pertzborn of channel two news mention "LFHC" last week several times while covering a story regarding something that happened there, maybe we should call FOX 2 news?? Lol. Parents duty is to educate their children about things they encounter not hide them from it. There is much worse on "family tv" (channel 2,4,5 and 11 every single day and night than anything that MM has said at the races. Geesh, come on people:rolleyes:

Obviously I was being sarcastic. Get over it guys this kind of stuff is part of today's world. Sheltering your kids is not gonna be easy unless you keep them in the house. Just **** it up and deal with it.

I guess some of you are just to dimwhitted to understand the complaint. Nobody is bashing the announcer. We all know he is the best announcer out there,(The Very Best). I too had my grandson asking me to go here, but i was able to explain to him that it was a place for adults and that he wouldn't be aloud to enter. I still wish that i couldv'e advoided the situation and i'm sure with all the commotion it has brought and some ideas given that it wont be a problem in the future. Mike is a very intelligent human being and does take in any positive input and will do his best to accomidate the fans aand drivers to the best of his abilities. And for you all they say you aren't coming back for that reason, heck go to Saint francious county raceway, the announcer there sticks the microphone, "not half way, but threefourth" down his throat and you dont know a lick of the drivers, who won or even what class is running. So for all you that is taking this as a bashing the only one bashed here is the farmington announcer. Keep up the great work mike, we love you, and cant wait till friday to hear you do what you do best.

Ok Hard lefts your right lets keep it real how many kids do you realy think watch the news? I don't know eather but this I can tell you if I sew that on the news just as on here I would have said something to them also because just as I55 I also like channel 2 the best and would like to see things stay on a more professional level. After all Im at the races to see and hear about the races and drivers, if I wanted to hear BS like that I would and do come on here because some of the poeple including me can realy sling the crap. Just like towmaster you got to be kidding me Lie to your kids? Ya I see not sheltering your kids so maybe I should tell kids to go to the races but plug there ears? Please you want adult things goto adult places.
I think the point got across by everyone and he did a great job coming on here and saying he will work on things. That should put an end to this, oh wait the dog has not barked into this yet, :D pissss where ya at puppy dog?:D:D

this is what is wrong with the world these days, everyone getting offended by EVERY LITTLE THING. so its OK for mike to announce and talk about a strip club if they sponsor a car but not if they dont? what if after he announced a sponsored car and talked about it in the same way and the child asked about the business? can the parent not just say 'its a place for grown ups' and be the end of it? the few that were offended are part of the reason theres not a lot funny left on tv or radio because everyone is too politically correct and afraid to hurt someones feelings. GO MIKE MEURER, keep up the good work on a successfull announcing career

Mike is a great announcer, the best in the area... hands down, flat out
He is an entertainer and passionate about racing.
I would like to know the driver's name and where he is from. One track in the area, I won't say which one, when a car comes out on the track, he'll say "in row 1 the red 48" well man, I can see that.
I do agree though with some, keep the strip clubs stuff out of it; just not necessary

Well said just dont understand some people. What about what kids see on tv everyday ,example the commercial for the horror movie exercist !! Every child hears or sees things and asks questions it you job as a parent to explain it not everyone else to live your way.

Hey Mike while we are suggesting.... can you really do some digging and tell us where the driver got his firesuit and if he prefers the ONE or TWO piece. Inquiring minds REALLY want to know.

I have been down on that stand and it is not that easy. You have alot going through your head at any given time and what is funny to one is not funny to another. You are thinking when to talk and when to not talk... What to say and what not to say... Did I mention that driver or did I not and if I did will people be mad that I mentioned one driver twice and not another. Have I mentioned the sponsors or not, have I mentioned one on accident that is not a friendly sponsor of the track.... Have I read the SAVE MO LIVES ad yet and did I log the time... Did I mention the Concessions, 50/50, or Souvenirs... are there any special guests in the house (like the Army was) are they getting enough notoriety for being onsite and a supporter of the track... What upcoming events are coming at the local tracks... Is there anything that I (the announcer) can share on a particular driver that I have knowledge of that maybe someone would find interesting -- then again there are those that dont care.... on the flip side if its interesting to me (the announcer) will it be interesting to someone else or will I get flamed for it... How much is enough and what is not enough for the crowd. Who will I please and who will I piss off. You have to have VERY thick skin to do that job.

GOOD LORD people... its not an easy job... the announcer is the one with a MIC for a reason and not everyone has a mic or can talk on it for a reason. Yes his job is to announce, entertain, inform, enlighten, keep the night moving, and atleast 100 other things... I tried a few weeks of announcing at I-55 and had a good time while trying and learned some very valuable lessons -- INCLUDING how hard it really is... its not just talking car numbers and names. Mike is the best at what he does for a reason, imagine what will be next if God forbid Mike was to hang his microphone up someday and join us on the other side of the fence.... Like PTONY said go to any other tracks and see what they have to offer.... A few weeks ago there was complaints that the WoO announcers were too loud... I would love to have had 50% of either of “The Voice of the Outlaws” Johnny Gibson and Ozzie's voices when I was on the mic at I-55. I-55 Raceway you wanted the best -- you've got the best....... I know my hairs still stand up when I hear that. Best case you will only make 50% of the people happy at any given time - every week all you can do is try.

Mike is very good at what he does. I feel that he adds to the experience rather than takes away from it. With Mike you don't know how good or how much fun he adds til you go to another track. Keep it up Mike. He's part of the show!!!!

Damn Mike, been doing this announcing thing for 30 some odd years and still haven't got it right???? lol.... Just kiddin' buddy, you know I think your the best. Don't change a thing, you are what you are and thats why we love ya'!!!! A bad TTG is still better than most...lol

A bad announcer can make a 4 hour night seem like an 8 hour night. Mike is a pleasure to listen to.

I agree, it sux that people have to be so uptight. Are they gonna cover the kids eyes if a girls gone wild car shows up?

Saturday night he talked about a strip club. I thought this was a family event, all the kids who were around me asked their parents what the place was.
Mike does lots of good for people and never takes any credit for it. For example most people dont know that Mike's grandma works at the strip club in question. After that stripper pole accident many of her regulars stopped going. Mike was just trying to help bring people to the club; a little advertisemnt to help out his poor granny on a fixed income. And what does he get in return-he gets bashed on here.

Kathy, I have been to tracks all over the US. We are extremely lucky to have someone like TTG. Matter of fact we probably take him for granted. I agree with several others who say "TTG for President."

TTG Grandma's favorite fan---AK

I guess if they mention Fast Eddies, you will have to tell your kids that they are not aloud there either.Keep up the GREAT job Mike.

I know something that you people that don't like mike talking about "QUESTIONABLE" establishments don't. Did you know that TGG is a staunch supporter of the NRA!!! [GASP! NO!!! TELL US IT ISN'T SO!!!!]
