They are scoundrals I tell you fellars. We will find out I guess today if them scoundrals get their UMP or not huh. Well Hooey on them they should have stayed on Sundays I hope it hurts them as much as it will affect Belleville. They just tryn to close another track like that there little one out on hwy 19 they scoundrals I tell you.

Does anyone really think the UMP sanction is the ONLY reason people are going to race at a track? I agree it might have some bearing, but it seems to me that racers in general go to a track to race because it is a track they want to race at, not a sanction they are racing with. I really don't think that racers (in general, apart from the small number of dedicated points racers) care much about the sanction, they just want to race at their favorite track.

I think that people who like running Belleville will still go to Belleville, and people who want to run the new TCS will go there. Fans and racers are going to go to their favorite track as long as it stays open, and that to me, seems to be the larger issue in the area, the fact that we are seeing tracks and promoters struggling to stay alive. I really think the last thing we need is yet more lawsuits and trouble between the tracks, when almost all of them seem to be struggling in one way or another.

I agree Todd. When Godfrey closed..some who chased points needed somewhere to go..some did goto Belleville. My guess is..if UMP gets sanctioned at Tri City..it is going to be a very very very busy track. Lotta hot dogs will be there..powerhouse city. Hurts the lil guy like me...one reason i would like to know if this UMP thing is a yay or nay. If it goes through..i probably wont run there. That track looks really fast..and bring in some of the heavy hitters..which will come there if it does go through...guys like me just starting out and getting their feet wet will just be in the way..lol. Oh well..time will tell i guess. Any word..anyone..anyone ...anyone???

Hey Mike you have made a good point that i have stated before. When it comes to what track us racers are going to race at (belleville, Tri City) kind of depends on how good of equipment you have. I have had many people tell me that they will try Tri City but if it is too hard on there equipment (b/c of the size) then they will stay home or go elsewhere. Yeah if you build a good motor it will probably last a little longer. But since alot of us local guys do this for fun and as a hobby we can't build a really really expensive motor. Yeah Tri City will have a some good heavy hitters in the mods and late models because most love the big tracks with plenty of room and speed. You will probably only see the top dawgs of the street stock class sticking around for the whole year at Tri City. You see quite a few street stocks losing motors at I-55 during the nationals. Shows that a big track is hard on motors that you can't do alot of really good stuff to. Although there are a few street stocks at Tri City that i gaurentee i could put there motors in my sportsman car at Belleville and run competitively.

Tri City will have there cars and belleville will have there own too. UMP or not. I don't see either track struggling for car counts. We will find out though in a 2 weeks.

Good luck to all this season.

Tom

Yea..i hear you. I have a decent motor...and should be ok. But..i also have an older car ...new driver...and i need seat time. Get guys out there who are there to get the points..no matter what it takes..makes racing a little less fun. When Wente ran as an independent...it was some fun racing and everyone was on an even keel. You could also run a body all season(can alot of people say that..nowadays?) Good clean racing. Not..fast fast. But..good side by side racing. Not wishing Tri City ill feelings..lol. It would be nice to see Ump go there full boar. Like i said..if it happens..watch out. That place will be romping all night long.

T.NIE, makes the point of what a shame it is with the sport in the condition that it is in that we need to come together rather than beat each other up.

I ask who should be the most ashamed? Since the Gundakers came into the sport as a track owner what have we seen:

1. A lawsuit filed by Gundaker for the purpose of shuting down another dirt track.

2. A purposeful decision to not only compete on the same night as another long established area race track but also attempt to steal that race tracks lineup.

3. Stooping so low and aided by this web sites moderator J.Dearing, in an effort to steal Belleville's thunder and it's Modified class by announcing on the eve of Belleville's annual rules meeting that Tri-City would be offering an artificially high purse for modifieds.

It you want to talk about shame, you need to address it to the shameful.

This thread wasnt intended to have anything to do with the deal ..lawsuit..Montgomery...ect. Its about Tri City. Leave it at that. Want to plead your case on the lawsuit issue..start another thread please. I dont see anything that Kevin is doing..as a direct hit to Belleville. Plenty of cars to go around...and im sure some of his sponsors or backers liked Friday nights better. More people available to attend. More advertisment..ect. Its a harsh world out there now. Competition will only bring the best out of any track. Belleville will not crumble...trust me. Tri City will..like i said..probably pick up some cars from Godfrey...and if UMP comes...probably some chasers will show up as well. Attacking Jimmy Dearing..wow..you have a death wish on this site..dont you..lol. Its his forum. Dont like what he does with it...feel free to pop on another site. And..that lawsuit was going on before Kevin took over Tri City if memory serves me correct. And..and..ok..im repeating tis..its Kevin's dad..not Kevin directly. Please..also..dont get this thread closed..as some of you guys did the Montgomery one due to your disrespect to others.

you need to learn how to comprehend, everything i said is true and yes it does deal directly with Tri-City and the subject matter of this thread.

let's see a real pain the but to get there on friday night with lotsa of problems or run sunday no problems with sanction will get cars fromout side the area sounds like ano brainer to me

What dose Belleville and Montgomery have in common ? A Gundaker is trying to drive both of them out of business. " LIKE FATHER LIKE SON "

TRUE TO AN EXTENT I THINK. BUT MOST FANS WANT TO SEE NAMES. THOSE NOT AFFILIATED WITH A RACER ESPECIALLY. FAN COUNT IS A CONCERN OF KEVINS. I'VE HEARD HIM AND TAMMY SPEAK OF IT.

THE ONE THING ABOUT THIS ARGUMENT THAT REALLY PISSES ME OFF IS PEOPLE AND THEIR COMPLETE DISREGUARD FOR BELLE CLAIR SPEEDWAY! PEOPLE ARE QUICK TO VOICE THEIR DISPLEASURE AND SUPPORT, WHEN A TRACK GETS UNDER PRESSURE FROM PEOPLE LOOKING TO GET IT SHUT DOWN. BUT, WHEN THEY HAVE A PERSONAL AGENDA THEY TALK OUT OF THE OTHER SIDE OF THEIR MOUTH.

BELLE CLAIR'S BEST INTEREST NEEDS TO BE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION ALSO, NOT JUST TCS AND UMP. THOSE WHO ARE IN FAVOR FOR UMP TO BE AT TCS IN 07' NEED TO PUT THE SHOE ON THE OTHER FOOT. WHAT IF THE ROLES WERE REVERSED? MOVING TO FRIDAY'S WASN'T A HAVE TO SITUATION FOR KEVIN. HE HAD A GOOD THING GOING ON SUNDAY. SECOND ONLY MAYBE TO I55. THATS A MAYBE, THEY WERE PRETTY CLOSE IN MY OPINION. KEVIN JUST THINK IT WILL BE A LITTLE BETTER ON FRIDAYS. WHICH I'M NOT SO SURE OF.

IF THERE ISN'T A 50 MILE RULE DOES THAT MEAN THERE ISN'T ONE NOW? OR WAS THERE NEVER ONE? IF THERE NEVER WAS ONE, WHO PULLED IT OUT OF THERE ARSE? I THOUGHT THAT WAS THE REASONING FOR BOB WENTE NOT GETTING UMP WAS THAT HE WAS TO CLOSE TO HIGHLAND???? IF ANYONE HAD A REASON TO GO TO COURT IT WOULD BE WENTE.

YOU CAN TAKE ONE THING TO THE BANK. TCS WOULDN'T GET THE SANCTION IF IT WAS I55 IT WAS GOING AGAINST INSTEAD OF BELLEVILLE!!!!!!!

JUST MY OPINION! CARELESS IF YOU LIKE IT!!!!!!!! :p
I dont think anyone else could say it better than that

It's really funny how short people's memorys are. There are a number of people who complained because Mel Kinnaird changed his mind about running Sundays and decided to run on Saturdays. These same people think it's alright for Kevin Gundaker to change his mind and run Fridays.

These same people say Kevin isn't involved in the lawsuit against MCS he would never deliberately harm another track. Yet if he takes one person out of the stands or one car out of the pit at Belleville he has hurt them.

The one question nobody seems to be asking is. Why didn't Kevin go to saturday nights? Because I-55 is a great first class faciliity and Kevin can't win going head to head against them starting out. He picked the weakest track to go head to head with. Is this wrong, depends on you ethics. Just don't say Kevin would never deliberatly hurt another track. This makes 2 tracks that have been damaged that Kevin has a connection to.

Is anyone going to start a pool to see what track comes under attack next? Could it be Callaway, Midway, or Lebanon?

The move to Friday night was made because Godfrey closed.

They don't run on Saturdays because there are tons of tracks in the area running on Saturday already, including I-55, Highland, MCS, Mt. Vernon & Farmington.

Do you all think this area can't support more than one Friday night track?

Yeah, I Could Dig All The Posts Up With People Saying They Wish There Was A Sunday Track. Also The Posts Saying How Great It Was That Tcs Was Gonna Run Sundays When Kg Bought The Joint. Now All Of A Sudden, Most Seem To Not Care We Are Losing The Sunday Track Close To Stl. I Guess Peoples Mind Set Changed When Tcs Seldom Ran A Show In A Timely Manner.

All of us diehard race fans hate to lose the Sunday racing there. 3 nights a week of racing was great for us.

But lets face reality, from the first Sunday race they ran all the way up to the end of last season, there was never a decent crowd there on Sundays except for the occassional special event that would draw well.

They drew a decent car count on Sundays, but the stands were always dead on regular nights. I swear on many nights, while standing on the infield, I could literally count the people in the stands and a few times it didn't surpass double digits.

You proved my point Jimmy. He went to the weakest night. This way he can hurt belleville's car count and stands. This along with the curfew may be enough to cause the end of Belleclair. Then he will be the only Friday night track!!

He took the night Godfrey left when they closed. He also let the drivers vote at the end of the season and the biggest majority wanted to move to Friday nights.

when you run start the the show early only to mess around all night you will not get many people in the stands if he would ve got the show over earlier I know I would've been there more often hint hint
