I-55 Ken Schrader Modified Challege Updates....

:(I think I-55 may have died tonight. Many pissed off drivers(don't be expecting alot of big names from out of town & even closer to in-town to be hurrying back...and they'll spread the word)about the goofy time trials, pitiful track conditions, and the lousy calls.Lots of torn up cars for a slicked up (which turned into a rubbered up)poor excuse for a race track.I don't wanna hear how much time and effort they put into the track and how the sun&wind&tilt of the earth&the stars&the moon&the zodiac all played a part.
I think the racing in this area is gonna be dying out pretty soon (this isn't the only pitiful track conditions in the area). Both racers & fans aren't going to put up with it. Be glad you didn't go if you didn't. Anyone who defends the track tonight either finished in the top 10 or so,is related to or tied into someone who deals with the track or has some reason to try to cover up that mess.If you really believe you saw a great, good or somewhat good show I truly feel sorry for you
I want the tracks to be good but somethings terribly wrong. When a company isn't serving a good product they need to be called on it and that's all I'm doing. When I get a bad meal at a restaurant I don't apply to be a cook so don't go there.
are your eyes brown

Transponders gone bad!!!!!!

This was absolutley not the place or the time to try out these things, for one people have to get up (early) in the morning for work the next morning.,2) thought it would never be a freight train racetrack. It took about an hour and 15 min to do this and yes there were people booing & pi$$ed off people sitting by me last night. It shouldn't of taken almost 5 hours to run a 79 car modified show. It only takes what 4 hrs. To run a regular sat. Nite program. My suggestion is try this disaster on a weekend show not a weekday.

I think there are going to be bad nights at ANY track. You see just as much controversy at Highland, yet they still get good car counts. Just because I-55 had one bad night doesn't mean that drivers aren't going to come back. After all, racers are racers. And Pevely still puts on a good weekly show.

the track ****ed...period. freight train racing at it's finest. No reason for it.

Here might be a reason for it: On Tuesday, weather.com called for a 60% chance of rain during the day on Wednesday. If they had watered the track heavily, and then would have had one of those 5-minute downpours come thru about 10 or 11 AM, very likely the track would have been rougher than a plowed field. Then a lot of the same folks who are complaining about the dry slick would have been whining about how much time it took for the tractor work to fix the track.

Bottom line: It's not the track's fault the weather man screwed up.

let em run through a plowed field heck i mean 24 cars started and 12 or 13 finished on the rubber black condition they had . and did noone catch the pass schraeder made on korte when korte smoked that lap car did you see the side of kortes car after that contact he just don't care about other peoples equipment if he would have done that to my modified he would be taking his to the frame shop today ...good driver or not you shouldn't drive over other cars like that if thats the way it was going to be schraeder or mevert should have drove through him and went on about their business... so I say way to go king kong how about why don't you think DING DONG....

probably would have been much later if they qualified 1 at a time. people moaned and groaned about i55 not having transponders now they try them and still can't please some.

Wait a sec?

WHOA!!! Korte's damage came from incidental contact when Leka and Hancock wrecked right in front of him. Other than that, Korte didn't touch anybody all night long. Schrader never passed Korte, Scrader made that move on Matt Mevert. Schrader's best opportunity came when they got to those two lapped cars. Honestly, one of them got in his way or he would have passed Korte. That's a racing deal though, certainly not Korte's fault.

While no one denies that the group qualifying took way too long, with 80 cars, passing points would've presented other problems. A driver who draws the pole position and wins their heat still can only earn 59 points. Chances are there would have been enough drivers who drew higher pills that earned more than 59 points that the pole sitter/winners would have found themselves in a semi.

Not to even mention how hard it would be for the racers to keep track of the points without an MS Excell program designed for the purpose. I mean, it can be done manually, but never mind a clipboard, with nine heats, one would almost need a painters canvas with a huge whiteboard just to be able to keep of track which driver was in each heat when it came time to break the ties.

As long as they're paying $2500 to win, they'll show up. This is not the "death" of I-55 raceway. The transponder deal was a disaster. They had to try it some time though. The track could have been better, but I'm sure all of these guys have seen worse before. St. Louis weather is tough to forecast. That plays a huge role in track prep. They missed this time. Sometimes that happens. It happens to every track on occasion. I-55 Raceway usually provides a very racy surface. I personally give Ray and his crew the benefit of the doubt on this one. I'm sure Saturday will be much better.

I see the I-55 cheerleaders have gotten out their pom-poms and started the cheering...give me an I...give me a 5...give me another 5...what's it spell????? B.S.
Dog face & moonBlow weren't even there yet they're going to tell us how it is and bigevil must have some unknown reason for defending a bad product. Just saw jmcgrew47's post...did you not understand my post guys? Why can't you guys get honest...hoping to get in free for playing the p.r. part? There isn't ANY excuse for what happened last night!
There's guys from out of town that WILL be spreading the word about I-55.

Very good point.

I have suggestion to consider though. What if they did draw for position, but made the heats 12 or 10 laps instead of 8. Then forget about passing points and just take the top 2? With the extra laps, guys who draw bad pills still have time to move foward. Just an idea to consider.
