I-55 Ken Schrader Modified Challege Updates....

Okay here is my question and would love your answer! I live in Arnold, Mo what perfect track do you suggest I go to ? Not to dry not to heavy, no bumps - the track that another car will never ever ever touch our car or vice a versa and the little Tinker Bells are spreading Happy Fairy dust all over and the drivers are all perfect and they all get along and all can live in glass houses because there are no rocks in this place- the perfect place that our kids do not fight and the checks don't bounce you know what I am looking for Please assist me in this search. Open to suggestions - I will be waiting for this suggestion for perfect place.

Kinda sounds like heaven. I want to go there, but I'm in no big hurry to get there.

I believe every track has something the others don't. So, for instance, if you took Belleville, Tri City, Highland, I-55, & SFCR and smashed them all together you would probably come out with a pile of dirt in a circle that gets slick, rough, tacky, smooth, dust free, drivers w/ emotions, drunks in the stands, bad calls, good calls, freight trains, 4 wide, and people on here talking doom & gloom because of it.

Wanna hear a good joke? $2500 to win modified show. 2,500 aint spit. No matter what track it is those modified guys junk each other up for 2500 dollars. Read in a earlier post that 12-13 cars finished. They race like its a 25,000 dollar show.

It was a single file race. Except for lap cars. People spinning out.

You left out drivers that don't smoke and drink in the pits after the races.:D

Yeah I'll admit I was a little too fired up last night when I said pevely may have died and racing in the area may be coming to an end.Yet they DEFINATELY didn't help their reputation and drivers and fans are starting to really think about what's going on with the waste of money and time.
First off...you're related to whom?:) No place is going to be perfect(in my original post I did mention that I-55 isn't the only local track with problems). The weather has not been in the 90's with the sun burning up the track. They've been at this for years. It's unfortunate but the word is being spread about pevely.
I will say this in the defense of the track;I think whether it's sprints or lates or mods.(main culprits),there's too much horsepower getting hooked up to the tires and it just packs the track and the rubber starts getting laid(and I don't know about any tire softening to put even more rubber down).
I know parts are getting lighter and it probably won't happen anytime soon but I wish they would go to sturdier parts that don't bend and break so easily.Heck, now days it's a major disaster for the fans and drivers so much of the time if there's a few ruts or small holes. To get these tracks as close to asphalt smooth as they can they have to be PACKED.It's a shame tracks have to go to so much trouble to get the track done just right so the cars aren't torn up(at least from the track itself being rough).I think the problem starts with the light expensive car parts.
That's the best I could do as far as answering your question that you posed in a way as to set me up to fail in giving you the address to SHAN-GRI-LA speedway.

All of them in the area have their own quirks. Unfortunately there is less & less of them nation wide.

As far as spreading the word about I-55, it is no different than any other track. If you look at this board most of the crap you read says something negative about one of the area tracks. People will always complain about something, yet they keep going back. The officiating is no different than any other track. There will always be bad calls, someone will always feel they got shafted. Been like that since the beginning. I like going to all the tracks around here because I love racing. I have been to shows the 4 cylinder cars were the only not in single file. It happens and it is all part of the sport. That is why they race every week, every week is different. Every track is different and that is why we in St. Louis are fortunate to have so many so close.

jimmymac, just the guy i was looking for. What time did the races get over? Wasnt you the one talking trash about me cause i said the races at I55 dont get over at a reasonable time. 90 cars aint that many, so i dont want to hear it.

I wasn't talking trash about you, wasn't intending to anyway. If I recall correctly it was about an average time the races end. I-55 usually, i stress usually, gets us out at a decent time. Me personally, I don't care if we are there until 2am, but not everyone is like me and I respect that. It wasn't the car count that was the problem, it was the format & class of cars running. In general Modifieds normally take longer to run than any other class at I-55. So on an ending note I-55 still has not kept us until midnight(10 til).

deliveryguy, were you there last night?

Prove me wrong!!!!!

I knew it wouldn't take long to stir up the crowd. Just watch that 00 go around the corners like its driving on asphalt, about a month ago he blocked Walsh all feature long, wasn't even sideways and walsh had a run on him coming out of every turn, you can't tell me there isn't a little help there keeping him from spinning the tires with that motor he's got.yep we got a guy on a streak until another big spender comes along and knocks him off the mountain.

DirtGirl, people will come DirtGirl. They'll come to Pevely for reasons they can't even fathom. They'll turn up the driveway not knowing for sure why they're doing it. They'll arrive at the gate as innocent as children, longing for the past. Of course, they won't mind if you look around, you'll stay. It's only $10 per person. They'll pass over the money without even thinking about it: for it is money they have and peace they lack. And they'll walk out to the bleachers; sitting in their favorite driver shirt on a perfect evening. They'll find they have a great seats somewhere along the tracks, where they sat when they were children and cheered their heroes. And they'll watch the race and it'll be as if they dipped themselves in magic waters. The memories will be so thick they'll have to brush them away from their faces. People will come DirtGirl. The one constant through all the years, DirtGirl, has been dirt track racing. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But dirt track racing has marked the time. This track, this race: it's a part of our past, DirtGirl. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come DirtGirl. People will most definitely come.

The top 3 looked like they were driving on asphalt. I guess Schrader & Mevert are cheaters too. I don't if he cheats but wheres your proof? Like I said before, he was the 3rd fastest car there last night. Fortunately the fastest car went out & the 2nd fastest was stuck behind him.

Not going sideways is called throttle control

Man, I'd love to have a Prozac or Lexapro concession on here for all those who are never happy and do their best to let all the rest of us know how unhappy they are and how nearly every race at every track is a bad one........I'd be rich instantly.

Also, the USMTS series run nearly every race for $2000 to win. They're pretty much considered to be great Mod drivers. So a $2500 race is a good payday.

The burden of proof is on the accuser or the "plaintiff", if you will. Several factors come into play when you talk about driving the turns and blocking. Track condition (rubber), tires, chassis set-ups, driver skill, and competition all play a role. Sometimes drivers gets receive hand signals from crew members as well.

Randy Korte has won a ton of races. He knows what he's doing and he has around him a crew that knows what they are doing. He also has top of the line equipment. That combination is going to lead to success. Remember this though, he's not unbeatable. I can remember one occasion this year when Kenny Rumble out drove him for a win. That's just one example.

A USMTS race at Pevely would be awesome.

I am more amused at reading then posting now! Some of you are just to dam funny!!! They need to change the name to "WHINE-55" I can vouch for ANY track, when your playing with weather, you can never guess right. With it being a big show like this, surely you have to expect it to be either one line, or no passing due to lack of drive off corners. NOTHING, and i emphasize NOTHING! can be done to fix it. Short of ripping it up, re-smoothing it, and starting over from scratch. And how long would that take??? THEN you would have those who didn't make the show start moaning that they didn't have a track that good... EVERYONE races the same track, it just gets better or worse as the night goes on... dust, mud, ruts, holes... WTF EVER!!! It still don't change the outcome. THAT is decided on who has the better car, better driver, and expected the track to be as it was. Even if you lead from lap 1, it does not mean he was the better driver, had the better car, or whatever. ONLY means that he wanted the win more. (not implying Korte didnt drive his butt off, just saying in general this is how it works. So before y'all go startin on me, keep that in mind...)

Fight night Korte wasn't going anywhere. Look at the list of drivers that have won. I think Korte has 3, Hancock 3, Horton 3, Walsh? how many wins does Walsh have down there this year?Rumble, Seets, Mabry. I hardly think Korte is unbeatable.

i'm happy there was a wednesday night show and the car count was good......i enjoyed the racing for the most part , but that one groove racin got old pretty quick.......i mean nobody dared got outta line or you'd be done.......alot a right rears where toast after that ......nothing left and it was obvious towards the end..........also , ther's no way in heck that single qualifying would've taken even half that long ( unless the transponder's would'nt work , which they didnt ) but alot of cars could'nt run their prefered line out there because they were blocked or next to someone.......also when a car breaks down while qualifying alone, all they gotta do is pull off......instead they had to wave the yellow and stop everybody ......that s****d...................that really got old !
