Federated Auto Parts @ I-55 Attn: UMP Pro Mods (B-Mods) at I-55

The idea of the additional weight is to encourage drivers to go to the 602 crate.

How far is GM up everyones azz. There are still alot of guys out there running with old used parts slapping stuff together. Ive seen a bunch of these crate motors run well with everybody. The simple fact is, some people do not have the money, including me, to go out and build all new gears, the right carb, and everything thing else you may need just to change to a G.D. crate motor. Limiting horsepower is a proven fact in any racing that the money will be spent on lighter weigh,t more expensive parts elsewhere. I am a big fan of the class BTW! Jon Ripperda

in this area--if the powers to be force a crate motor on any class it will hurt the low bux racers---JMO

Under engines at:

6. Overall vehicle weight will increase by 100 pounds each year, for cars using
this engine option. The weights shall be: 2015- 2500 pounds, 2016 – 2600
pounds, 2017 – 2700 pounds

Looks like the rules are a year off in the section you are reading..

HAHA! Go figure. Section 15.4 is labeled Weight. You would think that would be where the rule on weight would be. But considering....

in my opinion, if this class moves strictly to crate engines in the future, I don't think it will be good for car count. as long as crates and 2 barrels are kept close on the track {performance wise} what does it matter. some people enjoy building engines for themselves.

What about an option for an open motor equivalent to a bomber motor instead of a sportsman motor being able to weigh the same as a crate I think that would even things out and keep local motor builders in the game

I was never a big fan of the iroc series in the past... I just hope when U.M.P gets done with the B-mod rules, that isn't what we are left with. in the early days you had a lot of brand loyalty when it came to engines. fans let ya know if they were ford , or chevy, or dodge fans. nowadays seems like more a fan of the driver... sign of the times I guess no matter, i'll always be a fan of dirt racing,,,

Rusty--I am with you for the most part--what they should have done was use ALLIED sportsman engine rules from the git-go-----JMO

I did'nt think the crate classes really took off that well. Car counts are aleady down which makes the fans in the stands even less. Also thought they had a problem with some racers figuring out how to cheat on crate. Just what I have heard. Just have a run what you brung b-mod with a two barrel.

When this all started they wanted it mandated all crates by 2017 no ands ifs or buts. So if adding weight keeps them happy it should just be done. Im not for an all crate class. The late model class tanked for a reason. Yes they still run them here and there but who knows what next year brings. They are being phased out slowly.

Crate late models are far from being phased out... Central & northern Illinois have a lot..

The Nesmith Series is growing rapidly as well.
