Boycott Silver Dollar City

when you say its lining some dudes pockets whose pockets do you think that would be?perhaps the officials you help to put in office right ???? once you pay your taxes you help line some rich dudes pockets right so why not go complain to them about where they spend the money and not put the blame on someone who has no control over it?

What a quanry? Support the casino's (by patronizing them) to get money to our schools & communities? What an oxymoron. The money in both Illinois & Missouri goes into the State budgets for Schools, and for every $ that gambling contributes, the state represenatives & senators on the appropriation committees take $'s out of the general fund and re-allocate them to other things. What you all don't seem to understand is that there is NO EXTRA $$'s going to education. Why do you think Holden didn't give the money's to the schools this year? Why do you think that Blagovich cut educational spending in the upcoming budget....People do your homework!! And yes the elected officials are the ones making the decisions in the capital buildings, but it is our right & RESPONSIBLITY to hold them accountable for the way they vote for things, and what they allow to continue on their watch. If they are not performing to your expections: tell them, don't sit and watch it happen. Likewise if they do something that is good: tell them..they need to hear when they've done it right too!!

Also, have you ever thought of what it would be like to be an employee of a casino? How many lives do they see destroyed? How many people do they ever see "hit it big", and although the casinos explain their just entertainment, too how many does it become an addiction? How many families are destroyed or affected by gambling as a disease.

You may not agree with my opinion, and that you're perogative, that's what's so great about this nation...we are allowed to voice our opinions, and vote to affect change, when its needed.

i am a casino employee you would not belive the stuff i see in day in and day out.but it is how i suport my fAmily.what you cant forget is noone puts a gun to the players head they do it out of their own actions.Iknow the casino queen currently employs about 1400 employee's with benefits .casino's do bring alot of jobs to a community and with out that look how much higher the umemployment rate would go up

I agree with you 100% 66 Chevelle. Also the whole state of Missouri voted "No", not Silver Dollar City alone! Yes, let's go racing!

How many kids don't have A quality meal on the table or good shoes on their feet? How many kids don't get a new bike like most others? How many people have lost their cars or houses because they couldn't make the payments, because the gambling casino's got it instead?

We got by a long time with out them. We can get by with the few we have now.

again why put the casino's at blame because someone cant control them self.I dont see you saying this about an alcoholic or drug addict who chooses to spend there money on that instead of on their family.

WHERE WILL THE LINE BE DRAWN AS FAR AS HAVING ENOUGH OF THESE CASINO'S? IF SOME HAD THEIR WAY, THERE WOULD BE ONE IN EVERY TOWN WITH WATER FRONTAGE.

MIZURIRDIRT, MAYBE ONE OF THESE WOULD SPONSOR MY RACE CAR NEXT YEAR????????????.......LOL

I've Been To A Couple. But, They Are Not For Me. I'm The Type Who When I Lose, I Think Of All The Other Things I Could Have Done With That Money. I Guess I Just Don't Have Enough Of It, Or I Work To Hard For It. Money That Is!

It's a shame some people think those places are built for them to go win money. But in reality, they are there for one reason. That is to take your hard earned money, what a shame.:(

all ya got to do is take a drive thru south st louis and see all the boarded up bars to realize what a drain casinos have been to our local economy. used to be one on every corner but since the casinos came , these mom and pop operations have steadily closed down as there isnt any discretionary money left after the casinos get their cut.
when they first considered casinos , i was all for it. in hindsight i was very wrong in my support. they do provide some entertainment but for the most part they exploit those who dont have the willpower to say no. i personally think it was better when someone had to go to vegas to gamble.

porterm

dont try and blame casino's for the way south st louis is or even E st.louis regardless if they were there or not they would still look and be the same

I hear you man !!! I hate losing my hard earned money.

Sorry the ads I heard were "A RIVERBOAT" didn't mention anything about gambling , just some blue haired old lady sipping some coffee crying about some whippersnapper

Plus, my husband works at Ameristar , they implied that if it passed for Rockawaybeach they might have layoffs due to some customers going there

That alone made us vote no

Keep sippin Honey

They can't be too bad off down there if they can afford 11.7 million for ads.
Also, for every $1,000 the State of Mo. gets from the lottery and casinos, the Federal gov't takes that much away from the state when it's funding time.

It's a lose, lose situation. :(
