Can I run mercruiser engine

oversized valves

Smurf its nothing about being oversized. Bill was questioning the 1.9 flywheel behind a 2.3. I just thought it was the same kinda deal as using Buick valves in a S-10;)

HEY COBRAII if he won't sell me one I'll wait till I'll go to floridia this year My brother-in-law runs a Boat shop on the marina down there he might be able to scrape me up one cheep

Well Jon...you fords have your valves and us GM guys have ours...I'm just jealous we don't have a lighter stock flywheel that I know of.:D :D But then we do have the GM 3.0 4 cyl. HAHAHA I guess it all evens out in the end. hehe

3.0

Hey dont leave out Bad Bob's 3.0, oh yeah and he has upped the anty.................... Thats right 3 valves per cylinder:eek:

You're probably right. I thought I heard someone pull up in front of my house yelling "WHEELMAN". Thought you were here or something. hehe

YEP

Nothing like startling a snoozing wheelman, felt lucky you did not throw a steering wheel at me:)

Well you'd know if he did. You'd be giving me a hard time. LOL I'll tell you about it when I see you Saturday.:D

2.5 to 3.0

I know this is off subject, but what would a guy have to do to make the 2.5 in his S-10 a 3.0? Not to race, but to drive. It's an '87 with the TBI, and it could use some more power. (I'm not real worried about emissions either) Would it be as simple as crank and piston swap? And you all keep talkin about problems with it holding up, so any ideas on that? I'm just lookin for some ideas here, and if anybody would be able to sell me the parts to do such a thing for cheap. Thanks

stockcargirl, never met ya,and i love your posts...BUT... you are very wrong about the merccruiser engine not being a gm product. it has gm part #'s all over it. i know this for a fact. i raced these in open wheel cars for years... know them inside ond out. if you guys don't wanna allow it,then fine... could care less.it's not my car,or my deal... but.. i remember a dude on here named rob&cindy with a vega chassis that was gonna put a 2.5 in it and run with you guys....don't know if that ever happened or not....and i did not see 1 word on here about not a production car/engine combo,so you can't run... but there was NEVER a vega came off the line with a 2.5 in it. so if you guys are gonna rule on the truck/engine thing, and say no..then please be consistant with your rules.if you aren't, then as an association, you lose a TON of credibility.if you were gonna let this vega run with a different engine, then whats the big problem with the 3.0 in a truck? seems the same to me.i am not trying to start any crap,or make anyone mad,but fair is fair. mercuiser,if these engines are for sale, let me know. thanks, art.

Art

The 3.0 was not in a car, the 2.5 was. As for credibility goes, I guess that depends on what side of the fence your on. Things in this club are no different than others :)

I thought it had 4 valves per cylinder.....

Wingsrock

Being the master manipulator of #'s, explain to Bill how a 4 cylinder can have 3 valves per cylinder for a total of 12. Or Bad Bob have one of your biker chicks pose with the the cylinder head in question.
