Dale Jr. docked 25 points for profanity.

nascar doesnt what jr to they want gay boy to thats why they make the rules as they go wow that sounds like a local track i know

Was the River Front Times right?

I guess you can applaud nascar for being consistant... but when have they ever been consistant before? They shouldn't have painted themselves into a corner to begin with by docking Sauter and whomever else. Those were the wrong calls as well. They want everybody to smile and hug and be hunky-dory. "I know you just drove from mid pack at 200mph to win at Talladega and take the points lead in dramatic fashion, but get back in that car son. We aren't ready for you to celebrate yet. And don't touch those powerade bottles or show any emotion either. Dadgumit, golly, schucks whatever you do, don't curse while talking about your dead father as you stand where he stood so many times before. Do you want to offend our corporate sponsors that we have sold our souls to?" ... I'm glad my favorite driver will be walking away next year from a sport that is a polished shell of what American stock car racing used to be.

if jr. loses the championship by less than 25 points, there are a lot of people gonna say a whole lot more than s h i t !!!!! i guess they kinda had no choice, though, due to what they did earlier in the season. on the other hand, they make up rules as they go along, so why start now??

Every time I tune in to or hear about a napcar race it is a bigger load of s hit from the france family and their employees. Now we know were alot of local tracks get the idea to screw racers and make the rules up as they go. Favoritism at its worst, they want a Hendrick or Roush team to win it, and they have just shown how far they will go to make it so. Nascars popularity was grown on the back of his father, and now they shaft him at every opertunity. I say stop buying tickets to the Nascar races, and do not buy the Nascar products, only purchase things from the teams and drivers. Let sponsors know that you will continue to support the sponsors of race teams, but not the sponsors of the sanctioning body.

Oh, man do I have such mixed feelings on this one… First, yes NASCAR has set precedence earlier this year with Saulter and Horniday. The rules HAVE to be the same for Earnhardt Jr. Many of you pointed out, and I agree, that NASCAR has not done a good job being consistent in the past. … BUT that doesn’t mean they should not work harder on being more consistent in their rulings! As far as THIS ruling goes, I’m convinced it HAD to be that way. The argument that this ruling come inside the last 10 races and could very well affect the final points championship doesn’t hold water with me. Ask Mayfield or McMurry if a 25 point difference all the way back in February would be any more or less important than it is now in October.

Now, here’s one of the issues I’m torn on… The reason WHY this is such a big deal is this. The “S” word is on the FCC list of forbidden words. Words that can not be broadcast on regular TV or radio. As the rules are now, this slip of the tongue is a violation of their rules. I think that is best dealt with by the FCC, the broadcaster(s) pushing out the offending word on the airways and the person uttering the word. The “offence” by any of the three drivers “convicted” has nothing to do with the racing and should NOT be reflected in the final point tally.

I have a problem with the FCC maintaining a list like the 7 forbidden words too BUT hey I’ll save that for a political web-site.

Tweaked,
Same question to ya as DieHardDirtFan…. Did you really just say that!?!?! You had to be joking right?

dirtgirl said it all! It's ALL TOO STAGED! TV has ruined racing for the most part, it takes the spontanaity (SP) out of it.

This is one reason I don't want DLM's to get popular on TV, among others.

LOL!! When it comes to DLM's and TV, I don't think you have anything to worry about. It's great to see dirt racing in person, but it makes for very boring TV.

Hockey Poo Poo

So it's ok for cable channels to show anything??? How about South Park's episode 502 - It Hits the Fan? They say the word 162 times & even have a counter at the bottom of the screen! Or how about the movie "Bigger, Longer & Uncut"? Besides using all 7 forbidden words, I think it even has a song called "Uncle F****r"? But Jr. isn't allowed to slip on one simple little word? This is a common word in our household & (unfortunately) our gabber-jaw parrots have even picked up on it. But it's even funnier to hear a bird say it!

Tape-delayed interviews & editting are a good idea.

Go Junior!

Earnhardt...........

Is getting screwed.............................How can the "S" word be such a big deal, when we have tv shows saying it, Television is showing SEX on TV............And Radio has songs like "Save a horse, Ride a Cowboy".........What a Joke.................It's starting to become a BIG JOKE...............................

Junior is the sh*t, NASCAR blows..... I very much agree that there should be no baring on the points chase because of a slip of the lip. CBS nightly news quoted nascar as saying it was an action "detrimental to Stock car racing", in my neck of the woods that word is descriptive of the national assoc. of stock car racing.

Cheating is much more detrimental. Same with an overabundance of fighting, crying about bad calls and blaming other drivers for your mistake in an after-race interview. Maybe they should dock 25 points for lying to the interviewers about what happened on the track during the race....

I don't like Earnhardt in the slightest, but to fine him was one thing but to take points away is pathetic! What's NASCAR trying to do, act like the NFL ( No Fun League). Dale you were just treated like S H I T!!!!!!

Was'nt $10,000 enough?? My opinion NO driver should be penilized points for a non-racing incident, fine them, sure no prob.......but to dock points is just wrong NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE!!!

NASCAR has lost there minds they are screwing up so bad they should not be taking points away for things like this i can see if he took someone out on purpose and lost points i might be able to see that but, this is absolutly dumb

What would the world be like if they docked a hockey player 25 team points for shoving a photographer? Just a theoretical question.

What better way for Nascar to knock him out of first place for the points run. Nascar knows who they want to win. And Jr. isnt their favorite anymore. Crybaby Gordon is .
J/M/O

Didn't JR get docked points when he admitted to causing a caution? He wasn't docked points until he admitted to it. Robby Gordon tells his pit crew he is going to hit Biffle and does, causing Stewart and Mayfield to lose a lot of points, and just gets a 2 lap penalty.

Todays NASCAR is a joke. Bring back the good old days of racing.

how can they exspect someone who has just climbed out of car after running a race like that and winning to be cool, calm ,and collected enough to think of all there silly little rules, and conduct themselves the way nascar tells them too. you see this stuff everywhere, police chases, anything that gets that adrenalyn pumping you need time to cool down or you wont be thinking as clearly as you normally would .they should know that and give these guys time after the race before they shove cameras at them

The word "sh8t" should be the least of our worries in this country right now. Maybe we have the wrong people in high places. I personally am more offended by Kurt Busch's arrogance or the fact that Jeffy is still using the same "blow smoke up my ***" vanilla sound bites after 11 years. Can we take some points away from them because they appall me? I still remember T.Richmond, Rudd, Wallace, Waltrip, Earnhardt, Kulwicki, Allison, Bodine, and so on...tires on fire, beating the hell out of each other. Nobody giving an inch. That was racing back then. It is a Miss America pageant now.
