Decisions

At least the sportsmans will show up with more than 4 cars. And didn't UMP end up with the CARS crate models? New rules and all!

Build your classes out of local racers, and affordable classes, not the ones that have to come from 50- 100 miles away. Common sense; it seems to be lacking for most.....

I THOUGHT THAT WAS PRETTY MUCH WHAT THEY TRIED THIS YEAR? WHAT WENT WRONG? JUST HOW MUCH OF A MILE RADIUS SHOULD THE ROCK TRY AND TARGET? ALL THE TRACKS THAT I GO TO HAVE MANY RACERS THAT DRIVE 50 MILES OR MORE TO RACE. 50+ MILES IS NOTHING FOR MANY RACERS TO TRAVEL, IF THE FACILITY IS GOOD AND RAN RIGHT AND THE PAYOUT IS WORTH IT. IF YOU THINK YOU CAN DRAW A VERY GOOD CAR COUNT FROM JUST LOCALS IN THE GENERAL FREDERICKTOWN AREA, I THINK YOU ARE SADLY MISTAKEN. STABILITY IS WHAT TRACKS NEED. RACERS DON'T WANT TO COMMIT TO TRACKS THAT DON'T KNOW WHAT THE PLANS WILL BE YEAR TO YEAR. I DON'T CARE WHAT CLASSES THEY RUN THERE. CHANCES ARE NONE WILL SET THE WORLD ON FIRE RIGHT OFF THE BAT. THE ROCK WILL NEED TO MAKE WHATEVER DECISION THEY THINK IS BEST. AND STICK WITH IT AND GIVE IT A CHANCE TO DEVELOPE.

JMO.

I heard that they were looking at ULMA

I was wondering when the next driver's meeting is? I live in Jackson and want to attend to plug for ULMA. If they bring ULMA in, I will run Fredrock next year. They put on a great show, and have a points fund, traveling series, etc. It's a good deal guys. Go ULMA.

Fastrak pays 50,000 to its national champ, 5000 to the regional touring champ,1000 to its weekley champ on top of whatever the track pays.
1200 to win and 200 to start for touring races.

The problem with Fastrak, CARS, Stormpay, etc.

The problem with all of these series is that they FORCE you to run a chevrolet. There are those of us out there that are looking for an affordable Late Model class that will offer some of the same perks, but allow us to run our preferred manufacturers. I WILL NOT run a Crate class. I like to build my own horsepower and use the manufacturer of my choice. The advantage of ULMA, is that it allows Crate engines, as well as steel-headed, steel-block open engines. The racing's great, and the wins are pretty evenly spread between the open engines, and the Crates. Everyone's happy this way. Go ULMA.

It's still sounds like the same B.S. as last year. No answers are any type of a response from the owners or the new so called PR lady. Where are your morals? Why can't you as owners answer with at least "I DA DA DANT know or something? Drivers want to know something so that they can start getting things ready for the new year. It's the winter time when most of the work is done. They don't wait till the first day of racing to hear of rule changes and class changes. I really don't mean to sound rude and all. but you all are losing out by not making decisions now.And to take the three crybaby multi drivers that aren't happy cause they haven't won yet at DRR is not just stupid but down right stupid. Im embarressed to know I even worked for people of your caliber. C-mon Curley pull your head out and listen to the people not some wierd PR person that dont know her ### from a hole in the dirt. And just because Anne didn't like what one,(not two, but one) driver comments were about the track to run off other A-Mods is rediculous. Thats the class that paid for there purse and some of another class. They have the fan base and are LOCAL. B-mods were growing and the pure street are a deffinate plus. And then throw in a special or two on a saturday that farmington isn't racing. I've talked to Mr. Rudd of the fastrak seriers and he is willing to promote a couple friday night specials as he was last year. If you want some help on this give me a call, (636)352-2176. Im still willing to help you all out in making the Rock a success.

No Fastrak................

ptony39, I agree that we need to hear something about classes and rules. However, Fastrak isn't the answer from where I sit. I have talked to ULMA about sanctioning there and they're all for it. They have a traveling series and would LOVE to have a special at the end of the year there at Fredricktown. Those of us that would LOVE to run a Limited Late model, but don't want a crate would also like it. My problem with the crates is the fact that they FORCE you to run a Chevrolet. I build my own motors, and I want to run a Dodge. With Crates, I can't do either. I'm not some high $$ engine builder either. Just a Saturday night racer that enjoys the whole sport of racing, not just driving the car. Crates are taking that part of the equation out of it for us. GO ULMA!!

ptony?

And just because Anne didn't like what one,(not two, but one) driver comments were about the track to run off other A-Mods is rediculous. ptony, what could one driver have said that was so bad? What a shame, nice track, the stands were full every night, and other than the fiasco with the cratemodels(fight) the races seemed to go well. A-mods are the best show on dirt.. Curley, come on lets go racin.:)

"A-mods are the best show on dirt."

Well, maybe - maybe not, but they do put on a darn fine show, week in and week out. I liked the CRATE's when there were enough of them for a proper race. I don't recall all the problems with the sportsman class in prior years. Seems like one of the most often cited centered around the escalating costs. I would think that could be held down by how the class rules are written and enforced them at tech. Personally, I really liked them and, for that matter, the limited late models of years past. I understand the desire to hold down the purse to bump up profit, but without a few decent classes all the rinky dink classes in the world won't save the track. Remember when they ran four wheel ATV's? Sheesh! You just can't pull people into the seats to watch that kind of thing. My concern is that if you take away all the marque classes, what you are left with isn't worth watching. Especially if you still want to charge $10 a ticket. I say keep the A-mods, decide on another class (CRATE, limited late model, sportsman), probably want to keep pure streets and maybe one more class. Or alternate between dwarfs/modlights and mini stocks. I'm torn on the B-mods. They put on a fine show every time I was there. They're a good training ground for A-mods. They really can't run with A-mods and be competitive, so they need to be separate. BUT, two classes that are so similar could be an issue. In my version of the perfect world, all the classes would be distinctly different in appearance. For example, CRATES or limited late models (or something similar), mods, pure streets, dwarfs/mods. And maybe mini stocks. Limit the number of classes to 5, and maybe 4. But, in any event, I agree with those who say a decision needs to be made soon. The 2008 season really isn't that far off.

ULMA allows crates, too..................

Let me be clear on this. ULMA has open engine rules, and also allows the crates as well. The wins are pretty evenly split between the two so it's no advantage. Just requires teching the cars which should be done anyway. The crate guys have figured out how to cheat the system there, so it's no advantage for either. Just good, fast, close racing at a fraction of the cost of a Super Late Model. ULMA has already been in contact with Fredricktown, and they're talking about it. I hear that it's going to be brought to a vote at the next driver's meeting. I want to know when that is so I can go and vote. It's a good thing guys. Go ULMA!!

What is ULMA going to do for the drivers? Are they going to pay the track champ $1000 or the touring champ $5000? Do the have a $300,000 national points fund that pays the winner $50,000 to the champ?
Pay $1,200 to win and $200 to start? Dident think so.
Hate crates all you want ,but FASTRAK is where the money is.

Im not into seeing fastrak every weekend but a special here and there would be an option. Never heard of UMLA but yes that would be an option for specials here and there along withe the crates. But to aliminate the Amods is crazy. Does the umla have a web? Id like to check it out. Thanks and hope some answers come soon.

The driver didnt really say much, just dogged the track here and there. But then again there is always a driver and any given night that will say something about a track, when something dont seem fair to them. And yes the races were darn good up till the fight in the pits erupted. Im sure that curley and anne will do the right thing, they arent dumb are else they wouldnt have bought the track in the first place. Just keep posting and put forth your opinions as much as possible.

Ulma

Ptony, go to www.ulmaracing.com to check them out. I agree, Amods need to stay as well. If they want to do away with a class, make it the multi's. DRR has run them for years, and it waters down the car count to have them split this way. Just my opinion. Go ULMA!!

ptony39, i am the new FASTRAK MIDWEST regional director.I took it over from Eric Rudd. I have been talking to them about some special races and mabey going weekley with FASTRAK also. I am susposed to have a meeting with the owners soon, but any help would be appreciated.
I have nothing againest the limited cars,i ran limited for 3 years before i switched to FASTRAK. Just did not make since to spend that much on a motor to run for 300.00, when Fastrak pays 500 at weekley shows, 1200 to win and 200 to start at touring, and the track champ 1000 on top of whatever the track pays.
FASTRAK is the only working mans series that you can run and have a chance at 50,000 at the end of the year. They look out for the drivers.

The class that races at The Rock are actually E-Mods. We are talking about racing B-mods that race at MCS. If the Rock would go to the UMP sanction sportsman and UMP Limited Mods (B-mods) Doe Run will try something different being these tracks are to close to have both being UMP sanctioned. If the Rock is going to sanction UMP I wish someone would hurry up and decide what they want to do. Ipersonnally am the one wanting the MCS B-mod rules at DRR so I can have a track closer and affordable for myself. There are 10-12 MCS legal B-mods that are looking for a Friday nite track to race at. Good luck to the Rock and lets try to work together to help each other with car counts. Kenny
Maybe you can be the one to get culey and bobby together and work some things out. You have alot of sense about the whole situation and maybe you can be the icebreaker for everyone involved.

I totally agree with wydopn18. FASTRAK is truly where the money is in crate racing. They have the biggest purses of any of the crate sanctioning bodies. We've raced it for 3 years and have been paid exactly as promised every time, not a dime short, not a day late. This is a growing sanctioning body and class and things will continue to get better with both. Nothing against other sanctioning bodies, but FASTRAK has proven to have a successful car count, along with terrific purses. The touring races are awesome and have special events for the fans at every show (free money, etc.). I have never been disappointed with this sanctioning or this class.

Love FASTRAK and this class. I've seen our crate motors run many, many times with the limiteds and be extremely competitive - usually winning.

ULMA update

It's official, Calloway county has dropped Fastrak in favor of ULMA for 2008. For more info, go to www.callowayraceways.com and check it out for yourself.
Now if Fredricktown will do the same it would be great for those of us on the East side of the state. What about it Fredricktown? When's the driver's meeting so we can vote on it? Any information is appreciated, and

GO ULMA!!
