Decisions

I Think Ump Sportman Should Definitely Be Considered. The Key Being Ump. They Will Saction Just One Class, They Don't All Have To Be. Being Sactioned Won't Cost The Track Anything.

Uncertainty For Sure Isn't Good. Whatever They Do Choose, They Need To Stick With Them Until It Becomes Clear Its Not Going To Work. Most Tracks And Classes Aren't A Raging Success Right Off The Bat. It Takes Time To Build Things Up. Racers Have A Hard Time Commiting To A Track That That Doesn't Have Some Kinda Security As Far As Classes. Especially If Rules Are Specific To Just That Track.

I think its a very bad idea to drop the amods. How many amod do you think are around here. ALOT More then any other class.

The last points night at Farmington there where 43 modifieds.

The bmod class will grow. Most of those drivers will probably step up to a amod sometime. If Fredericktown doesnt have amods they will loose those drivers when they step up.

While we are at it!

Lets put the B-mods on the IMCA (or equivalent) tire also due to the durability and cost effectiveness. Last years tire rule was to help the class get off the ground by allowing guys to use whatever they could pick up. The guys up front are now buying new tires and with the e-mod, you have to buy them every week or two.
As much as I dont agree with it, from what I hear the A-mods are out.????

Well, that would just be. . . dumb!! Although I like the CRATES, it was usually the A-mods that put on the best show, IMO. Derek, I don't agree with it either, just in case anyone is keeping score.

I don't run IMCA's because no one in my area has them to buy used. I ran Emods but it was the A's and were all used at the beginning of the year and only changed 1 right rear and 1 left rear about 2/3 of the way through the season. I've got about 12 used emods and no imca's so that's an expense i'm not ready for... So i'd like to keep it the way it is. We have a hardness on the compound....

Tires, i pushed for this last season for the A-mods. If everyone is on them then you all save $$$
I have not checked into these lately, but last season they were $69 a piece. If Curley wanted to buy a truckload and mark them up a $5 a piece he could put some money into the track and you guy's would still be getting the least expensive tire going. Oh yeah, one less thing to tech.

Let me clarify myself a little bit better. I agree 1 tire for the whole class would be better and one less thing we'd have to tech. I just wish that would have been an original rule before I went and got 15 75% Emods for my mod. If it's changed maybe i'll find someone to do some swapping with.

Jon i'm all for saving a few bucks....just as long as they figure out what we're going to do so we can plan and budget for it this winter.

rules

Hey Bill, what's your opinion on the other B-mod rules. I know you're runnin' your crate motor, but what about cams. Do you have a choice. I ask this because some of the purestreets run bigger cams than B-mods. By the way, I'm all for a spec tire. The ones Jon was talkin' about or IMCA's. Something affordable. Can't really call 'em E (economy) Mods when tires are $115 a piece and the tires A mods run are $88.

Yep its allways easy for an outsider to suggest how for you guy's to spend your money. Since Belleville is only 4 more miles away for us maybe i'll swap you some imca's for e-mods...as much as i hate them.

I don't have a choice as far as what cam you want in a 602 crate from GM...but i could still change it if i wanted to remove the break off bolts. The purestreets have to pull 15" of vacuum i think right? We have to pull 16"... I had a bigger cam in my ministock..LOL and we had a vacuum rule of 15 or 16... With my 602 crate cam it pulls 18" of vacuum and i have room to put a bigger cam in if i wanted because it's less than 480 lift. But i'm not messing with it.

That's a bummer...finally got to race with you guys again since back in the day in the ministocks and now it's all messed up again...

I only changed 1 right rear and 1 left rear about 2/3 of the way through the season.

1. 2/3 of the season was about 5 nights out of 9.

2. The Multies need a small track like "the rock" but you will not draw them down unless there is more money involved plus Drr is Powri sanctioned and they run for Powri points which pays more in the end.

3. The A-mods are the better show and draw the most cars so have fun with 5 Late Models oh i mean Crate's not late models.

4. Rotating Classes is stupid!

5. Enough said

Well not that's a big deal or not and you not knowing my schedule i ran MCS, DRR and also all the play dates so i'm guess I ran about 12 or 13 races on the 2 "Used" emods A's and finally changed them for the last 4...And they were used when i started the season...

crate engine

By running the crate engine in his B-mod, Bill is exempt from the tear down rules. If he broke the seal and changed cams, he would have to deal with all the "cheater" accusations like everyone else. Bill, you are probably smarter than the rest of us for this.
BTW if anyone wants to know what is in the #27 engine, I need to tear it down and freshen it, so come on down and help pull it out and see for yourself how bad he was cheating.
DEREK
Bill you must have a soft right foot, we went through 12 e-mods this year at Rock. They were used with 1/2-3/4 tread and would last 1-2 nights on rear.

Jon, thanks for teching the cars for us that nite. I will talk to Bob and have him send you your money for teching that nite.....LOL

Please dont start changing the rules. When we had the meeting at Roseners it was agreed the rules would stay the same for 2-3 years.

If you guys want to start changing the rules lets make those changes the end of the '08 season for the '09 season

As I am sure most can understand, I really dont want to start replacing parts I have already bought for next season.

I do like that part of the crate..hehe

I'm not kidding I only replaced 2 tires..Maybe i'm not running hard enough?...Were you using "A's" or "D's" or was it that cheater motor?:D I did regroove the edges once

Wow this thread looks like fun. I guess I should express some of my opinions. Cheater motors in the b-mods? Come on this is stock car racing, everyone is doing something. The trick is to not get caught. I dont think anyone is flat out flagrantly cheating, the only one I know for sure is the 27 car and he's got what would be considered a little motor. Take his challenge and come down and see for yourself. What makes a car fast is the effort that is put into it. You'd be surprised what a well set up car and a little talent can do with a small motor. Been there done that myself. As far as the classes next season, keep the a-mods. Dont make another bad decision after last season's fiasco. If you have to I guess UMP mods would be better than nothing at all. As far as UMP sportsmen, another bad decision. Those cars that would rather come there instead of Benton, you can have all 5 of them. Dump the crates, too expensive for less than 10 car count. Put all of your effort into promoting the classes that the locals particpate in. As you know this brings out moms dads family etc. Which fills your bleachers. As far as the multies or mini sprints or whatever you call them, leave them at Doe Run. Its not right to steal someone else's class. Which is usually easier than developing your own.
