Face it folks--Godfrey's NOT going to change

Just saw on 4m.net bp was asking what track gets over the fastest. Maybe, juuuust maybe,:D he'll leave this site and stay over there.

I agree with you on the "extra" money for fast time and winner of the dash; however, you might want to explain what you mean by the "extra" points for qualifying and dash.

If I understand UMP points, (and I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong), Latemodels get UMP points for 3 events each night and they count their 2 best nights each week. At most tracks the events which earn points are the Heats, Dash and Feature. For tracks that qualify, such as Godfrey, they get points for qualifying, the fast six Heat, and Feature. Some tracks, I believe Highland and Mont County, qualify, which sets your place in the heat (heads up, no pill draw), then the top 6 of heats run dash, and then feature. It is my understanding that they still only get UMP points for the heat, dash & feature. Qualifying does not count for UMP points since they already have 3 "events" in which they receive points. Tracks that qualify do not have to run a dash; however, tracks that do not qualify MUST run a heat and dash for Latemodels.

Modifieds are different. They only get UMP points for 2 events each night and they count their 1 best night each week. In the case of Godfrey, they do not get points for qualifying. They get points for their heat and feature only.

Actually the way you set up the races probably hurt guys (especially modifieds) more than helps them who are running for UMP points.

In the case of Latemodels, if they set fast time and pull the 6 pill, and do not advance into the top 4 finishers, they get points for fast time, but no points for the heat. In the case of Modifieds, they could set fast time, get no points for it, start 6th in the heat, and finish 5th and get NO points at all for either qualifying or the heat. This does happen more often with the top 6 qualifiers running in the same heat rather than if they simply pull pills and start 6th in a 6 car heat, they usually will have some cars that can easily be passed.

If you are qualifying to help gain more UMP points, then you need to qualify both LM and Modifieds and start all events heads up. If a guy qualifies fast time, he would likely finish in top 2 spots of the fast 6 heat since often there is little passing in the heat races. Most of the passing comes at feature time.

If I may summarize:
Late Models count two (2) additional events such as qualifying, heats, dash & consi. 1st. 4 points, 2nd. 3 points, 3rd. 2 points, 4th. 1 point.

Modifieds count one (1) additional event from heats or consi only. 1st. 4 points, 2nd. 3 points, 3rd. 2 points, 4th. 1 point.

So the Late Model drivers get every opportunity to accumulate points. The modifieds, however, are running an additional 2 events per night (qualifying & dash) which has absolutely no bearing on UMP points.

Even if they dont get points for the dash, they get extra money on the night...some guys arent just for points...
 
Running a dash is fine if the guys want extra money. But line them up by there heat race finishes not by qualifying. Just to much extra time to run all the qualifying.
 
Hey cblgy, if beer sales revenue is hurt so bad by decreasing down time, couldn't they alleviate that problem by just building a little beer cart like they roll around at Belleville?

I agree with you, i dont like how they just make the fast six run a dash as a heat race...they should have to run a heat like the other guys then if they wanted to have a dash...also BrandonPaul ocassionally they did have a beer cart they ran around but what does beer have to do with getting done on time...

The one where I wanted you to come assist me so that I could bash on you Saturday morning? Yeah, well I would have thought you would have had the decency to SHUT YOUR MOUTH if you didn't have a set and couldn't come try it from the inside out!

I doubt BP would take up your offer...he doesnt have a clue how the system works and hes scared to be outworked by a woman...
 
You tell'm Dana. I got to see what she does and it ****s. Dana's one of the best scorers in the area. Even though she hates me I still think that. She puts up with to much Sh*t from all the crybaby fans and drivers.
 
Dana you know he wont show now too much riding on this one now. Too many people watching. Brandon here is your chance. Are you a man or a mouse? Do you have what it takes to stand up and be counted or will you continue to hide on that yellow line so like the one that runs down your back? If you can do so much for Chad and his poor ignorant little track by saving them for the early death they have resigned themselves to by never taking your advice. Then stand up and save us Brandon please do not hide and abandon us to a life without racing because Brandon Paul says so, rise up and resurect timely racing before it is too late.
 
Chad I have sent you a private message with who i am and contact information. I would love to help the track out if you think i can. You have done a good job this year, and its nice to see someone actually bust their tail to try to get things in order, and by the number of fans in the stands on a weekly basis I would say your efforts are starting to show.

Just to keep things in order, I am not being a smartass, and my offer to try to help out if possible is genuine. Hell im there every week already, might as well pitch in.

Even if the drivers insist on qualifying, why not use a modified version of the Sumernationals format and run the dash after time trials. Take the top 4 to the main and start 5th and 6th on the pole of the two heats. Given that Godfrey has been getting 14-16 LMs most weeks, this would at least assure 5 or more cars in each heat--no more 2 row, 4 car heats. (Although I still think it would be more entertaining to see one 10 car heat.)
