Mike Hartnett,Sr)my dad Mike Hartnett,Jr(me) my brother Matt Hartnett. Started out my dad had not raced in 10 or so years. I was 14. We got a pontiac lemans given to us(was supposed to be my car when i turned 16..lol). We put a cage in it outside(try holding bars in the rain while someone welds. My hair is just now getting straight). We put a truck rear end under it with leaf springs(real grey area for hobby stocks back then....officials gladly pointed this out to us..lol). We ran that car year. It was fast but those pontiac motors just wont hold up to 7000 rpm's..lol. Oh well.....turned heads for 5 or 6 laps. We built a sportsman. Then helped Otis Shoemaker. then i drove in a mechanic's race. There it all started. Did i leave out the part about welding in the rain..lol. Fun times.

He wasn't my dad but one of my uncles by the name of Art Aubuchon raced in the fifties at the old walsh stadium down off of grand. He used to tell me stories how they would litterally build the cars at the track by welding the bars in and removing the glass to go racing. I am the only one who followed in his step but bubby is coming lol he is only three now but go karts will be in his future hehe big paul
