For those wanting more Tri-City info, here you go!

Looks like Belleville has just gained a few cars with no sportsman at TCS, also a couple lates with no UMP. Oh well

Say what you want, it looks like a pretty sweet set up to me. Load your stuff Thurdsay night, get off work on Friday and burn out as soon as you get home. I have nothing against UMP, in fact I am about to join, but people seem to get too wrapped up in it...there attitude is "If it's not UMP it's just a bunch of clowns running around out there." I personally thought that the iron man series put on some of the best LM races I'd ever seen two or three years ago with Krankel, Kloos, etc. The c.a.r.s race last month was killer. I guess the question is, are you a race fan or do you just get wrapped up in all the hype and dollar signs surrounding the UMP points chase?

Aaron, I'd wait before buying that UMP membership, we don't know what if any tracks around here are gonna run them.

I'm not running for points, I was just gonna do it for the insurance. Sounds like it would be worth the money. With only Highland and you guys running under UMP, I don't expect the champion to come from our immediate area.

Tri- City

Well we all new this was coming eventually. Think about it, sportsman cost are out of control and crates are now in the picture. It costs you just as much to build a sportsman than it would for a modified. They are opening up street stock rules and that will eventually be the replacements. It ****s but we see it every 5-6 years. A class gets out of control dollar wise and they either get the rules changed and or get eliminated. Sportsmans were a low budget race car when I started racing them 6 years ago and there were no street stocks. It is kind of like race car evolution.

As far as "stupid and idiots" I think UMP would be the "stupid ones" for dropping the 140 plus cars that Granite will be offering up each week which could equate to 400 plus cars that could be at the track over the course of the season. I think it is a good move and everyone will adapt. This will be the premier racing facility in the St. louis area. My opinion, of course.

hahahaha

i think its great movin out the sportsmans sound like an old time saying i heard at godfrey a few yrs back when they got ried of the bmod class

I think that the switch to fridays is a good thing. The fact that they are dropping the sportsman is shocking. They drew a lot of people since most of the drivers were locals. I don't see them getting a full field of crate cars on a weekly show. Big shows draw lots of crates but not weekly shows. I think this is a big mistake. I would like to know what they are planning for a payout in the crates? If it is the same as the sportsman were last year then the hole thing is going to be a joke.....

How would it be a joke when you can go crate racing just as cheep or cheeper than a sportsman?

blame it sean2 also what I say about 2 many classes but no no one listens to me tri city will always be snake bittenfor changing classes changing nights etc .what a shame

How about thanking sean2. Good job! I think the folks doing the most crying will be the most surprised.

I think you will be suprised. We raced at Tri-City a few times this year and had a full field everytime & you have to keep in mind that these were not "Big Shows" & Tri-City didn't race crates weekly. I think that says something right there. At the Fall Nationals, which was a big show we had over 40 cars again at a track that didn't even race crate late models. Can you imagine the number of cars at next years C.A.R.S. WRS Fall Nationals? It should be huge!

Another good thing that Tri-City Speedway is doing in 2007 is the Hard Charger Award. $200 to the hard charger every week. You can read more about the hard charger award here...... http://stlracing.com/forums/showthread.php?p=436041#post436041

how do you people know what the car count will be ? i personally think that bringing in the crates is a good thing and i hope that they really take off as a class

I dont know how racing a crate is any cheaper than a sportsman. If you run a crate you have to have a good chassis they are not cheep. There is no way to be competitive in a old worn out chassis with outdated heavy parts on them with a limited horsepower engine. At least in the sportsman division you can build almost everything on the car without having any special equipment and it is just as good as the parts at the race shop. As far as the car counts I was at every show this year at TCS i dont remember mor than 18 crates any night but the Nationals. The first time they ran there were only 11 cars show up after hearing all the hype over the winter about all the cars that would show up. I think the crate class might be great for some people but I think they are stepping on a lot of people buy doing it this way.

Jmo

Why Can't They Rotate A Class Every Week So The Sportsmen Can Run There At Least Every Other Week. That Would Make Since.

Call me silly but !!! humor me.
This morning on the radio when asked where all of the crate series cars were going to be running in 2007, Sean2 announced that, they of course will be at TCS, BUT also at Fredrickstown .... Don't they run Friday nights,TOO???? Isn't that like cutting your own throat????
Also, after going to the TCS web sight and doing a little car counting, the Sportsman class pretty well HELD its own... Meaning, it was over 18 cars a night for almost 96% of the season:confused:
Well, anyhow....we all know what happened to the 2-Man Cruiser class . The only thing that put them out was a LOW car count. That doesn't seem to be the case in the Sportsman Class, HUH.
Brian M. as far as cost getting out of control. YOU can blame that on any promoter, who is afraid they'll make a driver mad and then they won't come back, teching carbs is getting SOOO old!!!! BUT sometimes it also keeps drivers away when they think they can't compete against the high dollar cars.
