Gas prices are going to be the death of racing

The website I gave shows the vehicles that are equipped to use e85. Here is the list: http://www.e85fuel.com/e85101/flexfuelvehicles.php .. Many of the late model vehicles can use it, but be sure you see your make/model and engine listed before using it. They also have a list of gas stations that sell it. Most cities have a few stations that do sell it.

Don't get on George Bush and just blame him...It is your Congressman and Senators with the power to make or brake it when it comes to gas prices, too..If the president vetos a bill to help out the working man then THEY have the power to overide so just don't blame this on the president...Get on the phone and your computers and let them know how you feel. If they tell you there hands are tied, they are the ones lying through their teeth.

gas prices are a major ripoff and for the self sponsoring race car owner and driver it will definitely cause us to cutback on racing or get out completely--fans that are not financially stable cannot afford to go watch--ticket prices will increase--and if the track owners are not well to do I see no way they will remain open--we all need to send a petition to our (oil wells galore in iraq) PRESIDENT--

IT SAYS THE E85 IS TYPICALLY PRICED IN THE NIEGHBORHOOD OF 87 OCTANE GASOLINE. SO ITS NOT GOING TO SAVE ME MONEY BUYING IT DIRECTLY. ONLY IF ENOUGH PEOPLE USE IT AND REDUCE THE DEMAND FOR REGULAR GAS?

Washington has been looking to drill in the Artic for some time now. They have met a lot of opposition. What's the best way to "pursuade" people to let you drill. Tell them that our refineries can't keep up and that we have to import, then, start gouging the public at the pumps so that they scream to drill new wells. jmo

a friend of mine lives in Washington state and she said they are paying $2.90 right now for unleaded fuel, and that it has been going up atleast $.04 every day. She was told that in that area it will be over $3.25 and will stay there for a year or so.
So you know that will be heading our way soon also.

If our dear GW would tap in to the national reserve that would help lower the prices some. But do you think he would,NO.Heard that come out of his own mouth. It's making him too much money.

I don't know how he even got re-elected because everyone I've talked to said they didn't vote for him.Kinda makes you wonder !! So for the ones that did and won't admit to it,enjoy your future.

Lol, yeah, Millsey needs to check the rev limiter alright... lol

It's kind of amusing to me that here in the land of the ravenous gas guzzling SUV's, F150's and, of all things, a Hummer as a status symbol, people have the nerve to complain about gas prices.

Let's see, gas consumption here in the land of the "free to burn a gallon of gas to drive around the block in my overpriced, ineffecient, over-polluting, resource-devouring, wasteful, extravagant and totally unneccessary climate-controlled extension of my personality" went up 7% over last year, right along with the price of a barrel of crude and a gallon at the pump.

If people really want to make a difference, and the price of gas really is a problem, (and not just another opportunity for chicken little to run around screaming "the sky is falling"), then why don't we all drive smaller more fuel effecient vehicles? Pretty obvious the price of gas isn't a problem at all. It is the vehicles we CHOOSE to drive that seem to me to be the real culprit.

Welcome to America, the land of the free, home of the brave, and the most wasteful nation on earth. I LOVE this place!!:)

Tapping the strategic reserve would only be a temporary fix.

So, you guys honestly believe that W is making money off of higher oil prices. That's freaking unbelievable. You guys need to get a clue!

I guess you guys forgot that he's lowered your taxes! No one ever mentions that topic on this board.

Mike is right in saying that drilling in Alaska would help. All the liberals that you guys voted in are against that though. So, take a clue from Momma Drew and talk to your Senator and Congressman about drilling in Alaska.

And of course I voted for W. :D

Oh, yeah. I voted for Dubya too. :) I don't think for one moment people want to take responsibility for their contribution to their own gas bill. Bottom line, if we all drove vehicles that got 30 mpg or better, demand for gas would drop and so would the price. But go ahead and keep driving your gas hogs and complaining about the cost.

Thanks 95fan, I guess some forgot how the government is suppose to work. As far as taking the gas tax off, in Illinois I don't think they can afford it with Govenor Blog in charge, it would help a little, but not much.

Rev limiter my azz..! Just take a little informal poll at the track you frequent on a Saturday night and see how far they have travelled. It's hillarious to see how some of you have taken the attitude that "if I avoid the issue it will go away." Gas was over $2.55 a gallon just last night. I'm sorry but not everyone has jobs that pay $35,000 a year and over, and that figure is nothing huge by any standard. You people with your rev limiter can just assist everyone else with a little cash since you guys obviously don't have any cash problems..., your problem is with reality!

Hope you can pull your 44' trailer with your Toyota Camry , LOL
You tow your 44' trailer back and forth to work with you all week? I have two vehicles. One daily driver, 30 mpg, and an old pickup I only use to haul the racecar and stuff around. I suppose I could trade both in and just get me one big old gas ****er and drive that everywhere, but that just doesn't seem to make sense to me.

No Millsey, you are the one with reality deficit disorder. Racing will continue, the sky is not falling, use some common sense and get something affordable to drive and quite blaming everything on someone else. Yeah, gas prices went up, right along with how much gas we use. As long as demand continues to grow, so will the cost. Simple economics. And it will not kill racing.

It's not really just the cost of driving.Higher fuel prices mean higher cost for everthing else.So if your happy with it,so be it. :D

No tnie, it's not simple economics. Take your blinders off and put down the feedbag. I'm sure racing will continue, but it's going to take a serious toll on the number of racers and the number of fans that can contribute. There are several tracks barely making it right now. If you take another 20 to 25% away what do you think will happen? If you can't see that you're living in a fantasy world.
