Hoosier Tire rep to be at I-55 this Saturday to work with mods on new A40S tire

If everyone is on the same tire then UMP should put this out for bid and ask for a hard tire that wears properly. Since Hoosier has a monopoly when it comes to UMP the prices are inflated. Hoosier is making a fortune. Face it-- Hoosier and UMP do not have the racers best interest at heart. They intentionally make tires that wear out quicker to sell more tires. It's not rocket science. This time they went too far and got caught. And yes I know I didn't listen to mom again!
I55 SAT NIGHT BE THERE

Jim I never said you used.. My point was that your comment about location was irrelevant. Same as my comment about 6oz. Plus to lighten mode up a little.. Lol

I'm sure given the chance other companies would work just as hard if not harder. That would push hoosier to work even harder. Then other companies would work even harder yet.. See how this works.. Everyone benefits!!

Tire bidding process is open every three years. Others have to submit a bid and be able to meet supply/demand. If we all want cheaper tires we can go to a Nesmith sanction body. Good tire but no one wants to buy a crate motor. If we all get together meaning racers and tracks we could dictate the price, but it appears no one wants to do that. Prices will continue to rise as a result.

I haven't posted on here in awhile, it's funny about the 26.5 H40 tires because I got roasted for bringing those into the STL area a few years back. Last point and I'll try to disappear for another few years on this board, AR does in fact make tires that are better and faster than any Hoosier out there. Look into the Soft, Medium and Hard AR tires and you might find what you're looking for in the modified class. There's even some in the late model division but that's not the topic here. By

I understand completely what there is to know about tires and the contract Hoosier has with UMP. My comments were directed to the ones saying that Hoosier has a superior product in every form, which just isn't the case. They do have the majority of the good or better tires available but in the form of overall speed and longevity for tires in the modified division I actually think AR has them beat right now.

Not sure I understand why the late model crowd is worried about a modified tire situation. If you were at pevely then you'll understand why tires were a problem. Ray and crew had to pack and sheeps foot the hell out of the track just to run. That being said it was very abrasive. All tires wore out. So let's not jump to conclusions about what's good or bad for the modified class. Just fyi I race in modifieds and don't agrree with a lot of the ump rules. But I choose to do it.... Rick Stevenson

I don't know you Rick but you're wrong. This is a legitimate problem that is going to continue because the tires are to fresh, they haven't had the shelf time they need to cure. But you're right, I don't have a modified so how could I ever know what I'm talking about.

Has there ever been a test at a track with the AR and Hoosier at same time? If not nobody should speak on which one is better or faster. With that said the problem is with UMP really not Hoosier...giving hoosier the monopoly drives prices up and allows for crap tires...

The tire rep from Hoosier is supposed to be @ Tri-City Friday, Pevely Saturday & Quincy on Sunday!

if u want to see some interesting pics of the aftermath I 55 did to these tires hit up dean hoffmans page on facebook there is a good discussion there with pics of a few guys tires we are all concerned for sure

The track at pevely was abrasive but you're wrong in saying all tires wore out. The AS I ran on my left rear in the heat was destroyed and junk....in 8 laps. The A I ran on Mj LR in the feature still has plenty of life left.....20 laps.
