I-55 Raceway Cancelled for March 26!

I'm with Dean on thiis one and beside, R & K racing in the pro 4' ain't ready yet !

Ray is working the track now. Unless Pevely gets an unexpected downpour, I-55 should be a go tomorrow night. The track crew will do everything possible to get the race in. With the WoO sprints coming in next weekend Ray and Kenny want a race night in before they arrive.

Did anyone else see this???? Possibly??????? So, there's no heavy downpour, and they cancelled. And you can't fathom why I'm upset??

And if you don't like the sprints, fine, don't go. But certainly don't wish bad weather on the people that do like the sprints.

I'm sorry, but I'm upset. It's continously been like this for the past two years.....I-55 says they're on, and then you get there, and they're cancelled. Friday they say they're a go, Saturday they cancel. Oh, and not everyone is near a phone all day long. I had more important things going than calling the track every ten minutes to get the exact time they cancelled. I was not even home, and I don't carry a cellphone. Imagine that, I didn't call, because I couldn't.

moon...there was no reason for you to show up at the track. The message was posted on here at 8AM!! Which means it would have only taken ONE phone call between 8AM and 5PM to determine the races were cancelled. I knew as soon as I got out of bed SAT. morning that the races were cancelled. Sorry bud..no one to blame here but yourself.

It says... "I-55 SHOULD be a go". That means it's possible. It DOES NOT SAY "it will definitely be a go." If you are in Arnold, who is to say Pevely didn't get a downpour overnight?

It's not I-55's fault that you weren't near a phone and don't carry a cell phone. I guess I-55 should call or track down every single person and tell them that the races are cancelled. You stated that you are tired of going down there and finding the gates locked? You mean it's happened more than once to you? Wow. I would think you would make it a point to get to a phone.

I am not against Sprint cars. I hate the way the WoO come and take over a track. Nothing against the drivers. The WoO really screwed over the Modifieds a few years ago and I will never forget that. Yeah, Ray and Kenny's hands were tied, but they did THEIR best to appease the situation.

I truly believe that "wings are for wussies." Take the wings off, throw some starters on and let's see some real racing. I don't wanna sit around and watch each one get push started one by one everytime a flag flys.

I hope I-55 gets NO MORE RAINOUTS at all. All I was saying earlier was that if they HAD TO HAVE A RAINOUT, I wish it would have neen next week instead. J/M/O

Ok Ok, it's obviously my fault that I got up at 7am Saturday, didn't check the web, didn't call I-55 office every ten minutes, and then travelled over hells half acre helping a buddy move until nearly 5pm, changed clothes, and went from Illinois straight to the track. So sue me. I actually did something Saturday.

Give it a rest dude. Of course its you fault who elses would it be. Thats why the track has a phone #. Plus now we have the luxury of the net. Just go next week and see your over rated WoO and live happily ever after. I'm with Dean. if it rained them out, they'd just take another night from the regular's later. So I hope they get them in and send them on their way. If the outlaws would have been there last week, they probably would have ran the show.

I'll be there! I am expecting good things form TCS this season. It will be interesting to see just who shows up to race each week.

COULDN'T SAY IT BETTER MYSELF

Working the track?

I'm not trying to take sides here, but the post that read "Ray is working the track right now" caught me by suprise. I live about 8 minuets from the track and I drove by it several times on Friday. I didn't see a single piece of equipment move. I did see that the pit gate was open. We didn't get any rain in this area Friday night or Saturday morning. Like I said I'm not trying to start an argument. I think I-55 does the best job of any track to get the show in whenever possible. However from what I seen on Friday of the track it looked to me that nothing short of a miracle was going to dry that track out. I did notice alot of dry sections today and they graded the road up leading to the pit gate. I think Ray does do every thing he can to get the race in but, a statement shouldn't be made like that to get everyones hopes up unless it is absolutely true. A little sun and a little wind on Saturday morning would of probably made all the difference in the world. JMO
P.S. We did get a pretty good shower Saturday night about 9PM so even if they would have started the races they would of rained out.

pevel

i live 1/2 mile from the tack and it never rained here sat night i think if ray could have gotten in he would have knowing that the boss was in town.

Lord knows we've all frozen at racetracks before, but I'm thinking that chill factors in the upper 30s-lower 40s during the day played as much of a role in the decision to cancel as did rain or wet track conditions.

One other point: It seems that it's only in the last 10 years or so that most tracks in the STL have attempted to start this early. As recently as the late 80s or early 90s it seems most tracks didn't start running until the 2nd or 3rd week of April. So it's hard for me to b-tch too much about a track cancelling a late March race due to cold/rain.

That said, it's supposed to be 75 today.:)

With a 0% chance of rain for the Godfrey play date, we shouldn't have to worry about moonflow b-tching if he can't get to a cell phone, computer, fax machine, telegraph machine, tin can connected to a wire, smoke signal, extra sensory perception, telepathy, or whatever else he didn't use to call I-55 on Saturday. :D

If anyone doesn't have the right to poke at me for b!tching a little, it's you, Brandon.

As far as I'm concerned, subject's dropped. I'm going to the sprints next weekend, and apparently, no one else is. So, I'll enjoy sitting shoulder to shoulder with no one in a capacity crowd that isn't there.

I'll stick my neck out here and say that I drove to the track Saturday too. Only took me 10 minutes but I still drove there! LOL! I guess I was just so excited about seeing some racing that I just assumed that they'd be running. Like someone else said in a previous post, it hadn't rained all day Friday or Saturday and I also figured that Kenny would be at the track so they'd try extra hard to run it. Oh well, you win some, you lose some. I did feel pretty stupid sitting at the gate like an idiot all by myself crying in my car! LOL! Ok, so I wasn't crying (that anyone seen anyway)! LMAO!!!!!

Brandon, amazingly enough, brought up a good point about the earlier start dates. I think I'd rather the tracks open later in April with better weather and then run into the fall a little later. September always seems so early to quit racing for the winter.
