I-55 Tri Track Challenge Updates

Debbie we can start the process Saturday Night..... :)
Those are some good choices there partner .... :)
Of course I have my favorites but whoever you choose will be fine with me.... ;)
Linda I am going to guess she did not say Dean because he d/n race there often. But I am sure she will have our driver searching the pits for him so she can slober all over him. Have you ever been with her in her search? Like a coon dog getting a rabbits scent. And then when she finds him well it's priceless. :D

Oh, and by the way, I've personally been within 200 feet of a lightning strike three times. Twice I was indoors. The closest one I was outside working on a survey, when a bolt out of the blue struck. I know when things become dangerous, and last Saturday, the risk of being struck was minimal, of what little actual risk there was.[/QUOTE]

Shame you wern't a little closer !

I-55 does NOT have a mandated curfew. They do try and be curteous and wrap up by 11 for the neighbors.

I've been away from my computer because I was baking those darn cookies for Belleville. Now it seems that northern Monroe County is under a tornado warning alert....couldn't have been before I started those cookies, could it?

Anyway, about Dean ;) He normally doesn't race at I-55 because of the distance from his home. If he races on Saturday nights, he usually goes to Highland (closer for him). If Dean was at I-55, he'd be in the backseat with me on that golf cart, not driving. I need his full attention, you know. ;)

dirtgirl, I'll save you and johnypasta some cookies! :D I may have the whole batch here if this weather outside ever opens up. It's looking real nasty in Waterloo right now. :(

Gee Debbie you just dropped me like a hot potato :(
And where am I suppose to ride now that you dumped me? Well I could sit in the front depending on who we allow to drive us around. :D

This is terrible I can not believe what all I have read on here so far. Shame on any of us to complain about getting rained out. Every one of us knows Ray better than that. Why would Ray work his tail off all week for this event and call off the race if he didn't feel 100% that it had to be. Not to mention all the money they lost on Saturday, he hates rainout worse than any of us.
And as for Sue if your going to call her on Wednesday you better show her the full respect that she deserves. Sue is the kindess hearted woman I know and is kind as can be to everyone she comes in contact with, so she deserves the same in return.
Everyone spends a fortune on gas to get anywhere anymore but I'm not complaining about it RAY and SUE didn't make it rain for god sake.
We were all grownups who knew what the weekend was calling for long before Satuday ever got here.
And we were there until 9:00 and it rained off and on up till then and then was raining a good ways heading south. We watched the lightening and bad weather follow us over an hour south.
They all know what they are doing and do the job well thats why they own the tracks and we are the fans on the other side of the fence.

Exactly how did they lose money? Seems to me they took in a lot of money they are not refunding and paid out nothing. I am no economics expert, but how exactly does that constitute losing money?

People used their tickets this past weekend for the stands and the pit passes
as well for the pits. And they can use them for the summer as well. So every dime someone spent there getting they will be able to use their tickets penny for penny. They are not refunding but they are allowing people to use them anytime. I know they lost food and I know they still had to pay employees and they still had to pay the dreaded insurance bill. It will all wash out even in the end for the fans when people get to use their tickets.

We just got back from the Dream and this is my first chance to comment on this.

I am not even upset about them calling the race early but, my biggest complaint is that they should have had someone at the gate handing out rainchecks for people who lost their tickets and giving out information to visitors from out of town who may not even live in the area and can't come back in August or any other time. It does happen that people misplace a tiny 1 inch piece of paper especially with all the confusion of quickly gathering up belongings when the rain started. Instead of being greeted by helpful track people we were harrassed and treated extremely badly by some very rude and nasty security people. We simply stopped at the gate to ask what to do about a misplaced ticket and instead of being treated with respect we were verbally assaulted by two very obese security guards and one overly zealous rent a cop named Scales (or something like that) and thrown out of the track. Not very nice. By the way, before people comment about our conduct = we were not in the least disrespectful to these people. We were simply asking for information and receiving "you should have held on to your ticket" in response. It was obvious that we should have held on to our ticket but it was already misplaced at that point. It was ridiculous. I also witnessed the same security people physically assault a poor man from out of town who saw the track on his way through town with his family and decided to stop. He was not able to return in August and just wanted to know what to do about his $80. ($80 IS A LOT OF MONEY) He was completely surrounded by two obese security guards and physically shoved out the gate (while his wife and two teen-aged children stood with jaws dropped in complete shock at the situation) without receiving any information as to what to do about his $80 or being given a telephone number to call to get information. Do you think that's the way to treat visitors!!!! Not only is he screwed out of $80 but he also gets assaulted for asking about a refund. Nice work security people. Nice work. If I were that man I would have been on the phone with the "real" police and been pressing assault charges against some obese rent-a-cops (I tried to talk him into doing just that afterward but he just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible - who can blame him).
Nice work Pevely. Way to treat your visitors. Get a reputation for that kinda stuff and see how many visitors you attract for your "big events". I know I have been treated bad there before by security when someone moved our blankets and am really starting to hate coming there and dealing with stupid stuff. By the way we are still out $20 for a ticket we purchased and were irresponsible enough to misplace. And I don't see how we will be receiving any penny for penny benefit simply because we misplaced a ticket. My telephone conversation with the track was also not very productive. I was told by whoever answered the phone that he had no authority and was to busy to take down my information and could not do anything to help me. Thanks alot. I have written off that $20.

Sorry for your and the other peoples mis fortune to the security at I-55....
I for one know Ray Marler would be so appaled at their behavior. Very appalled. You have never been a fighter on here. Not sure when you called but never talk to anyone there but Sue Marler or her daughter Sheri. These two women are the ones who run the real show  :D
I wish you would come back and hook up with me. We have been talking about doing that for years ......

These rent-a-cops need to learn a little curtasy to the paying public would go a long way. After all without the paying public there would be no need for rent-a-cops.

As for handing out rain checks, that sounds like good idea I just don't know if it is possible when everybody is scrambleing for cover.

Most people should know to hold on to their ticket to the end of the night in case of rain. Just because you said you had the winning power ball ticket, your still going to have to produce that winning ticket to claim your prize. I-55 is being way more than fair with rain checks from last week.

Not having the ticket anymore is exactly the problem. It is a 1 inch by 2 inch piece of cardboard. It got lost. We were trying to get some resolution to that problem before we left the track so that we could come back for the race in August with the ticket we had already paid for. We were trying to solve the problem while were still inside the track to prove we paid to get in. Is it fair to lose your admission just because you were irresponsible enough to misplace your ticket? I guess so. I have been going to races since I was a small child and everyone knows you should hold on to your ticket in case of rain. The ticket was already misplaced and there was not a lot that could be done about that. Having a rude rent-a-cop in your face yelling "well, you should have held onto your ticket" was not any real solution to the problem. Having someone with some authority available to speak to would have gone a long way to solving our problem and the problems of other people in similar situations. Having nasty rent-a-cops physically shoving people out the gate seems a bit over the top.

Sorry .. you are SOL ... think of this ... everyone who has a ticket in their pocket goes to the gate and tells them they "lost" their ticket. The track gives them a replacement ticket to get in the next race date. You take that replacment ticket and get in and give your buddy the original ticket to also get in.

Lo and behold ... the track comes to find out that they were paid for 1000 tickets and when the next race date comes, 2000 people have "free" admission tickets.

Not saying that you lied, but if some folks found out they were giving away "free" replacment tickets and all you had to do to get them was to say you lost the original, more people than you would think would do it.

I emphasize with you, but there was no way for the track to know the circumstances. Sorry ... right call by the track, just one you aren't happy with and the treatment to explain their policy does not sound justified.

I'm wondering what would have been so hard for someone to hand you a ticket from the window to use next time around? I mean, even if you were pulling a fast one, it's hardly that big of a loss compared to snubbing a genuine customer asking for some assistance.

You do understand that the guys/gals at the windows as in most places (even waiter/waitress) where goods are sold must "balance out" at the end of the night. At the start of the night, the 1st ticket # is recorded, at the end the last ticket # is recorded. Your drawer better balance 200 tickets x $20 better equal $4000 in the drawer.

If they'd had handed someone a ticket without getting money and not balanced, the proceeds sometimes comes out of your pay. Not sure of Pevely's policy with their workers but not a chance I would take. Too many "losses" will result in a loss of a job!

A few "hardly that big of loss" each night amounts to a lot!

As they say in the chinese laundry business "No tickee no washee"

. . . . . . and 20 bucks is not that big of a loss to me. Don't get me wrong $20 is $20 and I would like to at least have the ticket to an upcoming event to show for it. But mostly, I just didn't appreciate being treated like we were. We merely stopped at the gate seeking assistance and were treated like we were causing a disturbance of some sort. We knew full well that the ticket was lost and could not be recovered and that we would need it to return for the rain date. Our question was whether or not we could do anything to replace the ticket. If there was a raincheck we could have, etc. I just wish it could have been handled professionally by a track person who was not rude and nasty to us. It would have gone a long way just to have a person with some authority stationed at the gate to answer questions and what not. It was actually embarrassing to be treated like we were causing some sort of trouble when we were merely trying to ask for a little help. Even a nice person telling us that they were sorry but they were not going to be able to help would have been much better than an over zealous rent-a-cop repeatedly yelling in our faces that we should have held onto our ticket and physically shoving us out the gate. Just not a good way to handle things in my opinion.

DieDardDirtFan I don't think some of these people understand what you are saying, so let me see if I got this right, And by the way just asking... How long after they called the race did the rent-a-cop's force you and the other people out? Now back to the other thing....am I right? You don't care abought the $20 bucks? Just how you were treated?
Now this I can tell you A few frinds of mine stayed in side the main gate buying the tracks beer and was never forced out. There was at that time just a hand full of people still in there and the Rent-a-Cops came up to them without yelling at them and asked them to leave due to the bad weather that was suppost to come in. (That did not come in) With the track still selling beer. Now don't get me wrong I truly belive you on how you were treated. I also know how they are, so your story holds water with me. My piont is that you should not have been treated like that. Everyweekend after they say everyone can go in to the pits the Rent-A-Cops go home and Sunday morning every gate is still open, So why did the Rent-a-Cpos treat you so bad. They do think they are above the law. Treat a drunk like that not a good person. If they are running you out the gate due to the up coming weather why not all the way off the poperty?

I didn't mean to imply a worker in the booth, I meant someone with the authority to do so. I would think the rent-a-cops have radios to talk to people, or could have made some kind of effort to get someone with some authority to handle the situation instead of just throwing people out and being verbally ignorant to them. You know, "Let me get my boss and let them deal with this" sort of thing.

if you lost the ticket once in a few hours, chances are you'll loose it again over the next couple days, weeks or even months ( depending on )

What do you want them to give you a 24x56 poster board?

My ticket is clipped to a magnet on the fridge. Along with my raincheck from Highland that I'll use next week.
