If u had a choice between a $10,000 to win show which would you rather see Late Models or Modifieds?

This is directed towards Kevin G. I remember going to alot of big money mod shows, he probably should have won a 20k race at Burlington Ia. It was multiple day show. He was running third on lap 48 of 50 when right rear tire give up, running behind the likes of Ray Guss jr, Johnny the Jet. He did a great job. I was glad to be with them at the time. It made for good memories. Maybe Kevin you can find a way to bring one of those shows here on a regular basis. I hope maybe you can find a way.
Thanks Donnie

I think it depends on the track as to what fans support. If the track provides good racing as in passing, side-by-side action, not a lot of cautions, not a lot of wrecked cars and gets you to the house at a decent hour, you can make a Mod show work with a decent crowd and you can sure pack a crowd in for Late Models. Modifieds will more than likely double the car count of Late Models. That usually makes for a better back gate although Late Models do bring more pit passes per car. Extra car count means you might have to get a little creative in your qualifying format if you want to keep the show from dragging out.

Deer Creek, Minnesota has no problem getting 2000 to pay $25 to watch a big Modified race.

At Ark-La-Tex Speedway, if the weather is good for both, the $10,000 to win Pelican 100 Late Model show will outdraw the $10,000 to win Doug Murphrey Memorial Modified race but not by a whole lot. Both get a good workable crowd and good back gates. Mods draw twice the cars.

It used to be Modified rules were about the same every where too. Usually it was just buy different tires and the cars had no advantage over each other no matter what part of the country they came from. Now it's pretty screwed up. You almost never see a car cross the Mississippi for a big race anymore.

Well, if your looking for something to do in ten days or so and don't mind an 8-hour haul from St. Louis...

These guys don't mind buying the tires! ;-)

you get a couple 10g mod races in central Illinois this year...
Fairbury IL Sept 5th -- 3rd Annual Casey's AMS Modified Nationals $10,000 to win
Peoria IL Sept 19th -- 1st Annual Fall Classic – UMP Modified Feature $10,050 to win

Since that Peoria show is a week before the fall Jamboree, might can get a USMTS racer or two over there to take that UMP money. Not even going to bother trying to get one UMP driver over to Deer Creek the next week. They'll be some reason why they can't. $10,000 to win on Sep 26th with 2 $5000-to-wins the 2 nights before.

That Sept. 26th weekend is Mod Mania at Tri-City Speedway and they draw a ton of Illinois UMP Mods.

Plus Indiana Missouri Kentucky Tennessee Arkansas I think that's a good enough reason not to go north! See it is possible to get your point across without being negative or running down another organization hook. Try it some time I hope the usmts has a great weekend as well as MOD MANIA!!!

I can think of some UMP guys that uses to just drop in on the USMTS deal when the rules were almost the same in both organizations...and money seemed to come back to Illinois, maybe not all of it but pretty good sized chunks.
