Its Official: Montgomery Motorsports Park will open in 2014

Well, I guess I can scratch this track for us. Lmao

Ak
If they wouldnt allow ya too run then that proves one thing...Jim and crew are idiot's! But if I was in charge of who could run or not(giving your guy's history) I would make you and crew sign a waiver to agree to not rip moomman out the tower!

The track are not what is sanctionded its the divisions.
There's tracks like Monet that sanction ump for latemodels and sanction the mods are USRA.
Dirtboy im currently taking application for someone to be a Clown for our mascot. Your first on the list to get the job.

Negative attitudes do not help anything and I was always told if you can't say anything nice to keep your mouth shut. Just my opinion.[/quote said:
wow, what happened to open discussion in a forum. It's now --- if you don't agree with me then shut up!!!!

Al
She just meant dont say anything before we start. I know Jim is a character, it might be a good thing. Let us give it a shot first.

No, I'm asking specifically if JIM will still be selling tires.

Trace you and your wife should have promoted this track instead of Moon. He has slammed, and tore up too many other cars for people to respect him. There would not be all the bad talk if you run MMP Don't act if you don't know what kingeddy was talking about, Venom juice tire dope dealer last year and this year a PROMOTOR----GET REAL Dirtboy they already have a CLOWN your application has been turned down. I understand you wanting a track out your way and it can be a great track but you got the wrong horse pulling the wagon. Best of Luck

Please don’t get me wrong. I want to see MMSP re-open and succeed as much as anyone. I would even consider being a track sponsor or offering my expertise in an advisory or management position with the concessions. However I would never endorse such an endeavor unless I was guaranteed that disregard for any sanctions rules would not be promoted, encouraged, allowed, or tolerated in any way. I appreciate what your trying to do Trace, but this is going to be a hard sell to anyone who is not a member of the rotisserie league.

I think everyone should take a wait and see on how it plays out. We have another choice to go to a different track on Sat. Nights now and see what the car count is. Lets give Moonman a chance. I know what went down but that's all in the pass.

You MIGHT be right doucheboy. But im not on here being negative abt the possibilities. Ok 4X Idiot of the year '13 undisputed champ. Glad to see MMP going racing and I'm sure we will have our car there at some point. Thanks

I know people wanted my wife and I to get the place, but I cant spend the 100% of my time doing it. That is why Randy doesn't want it, its a full time job to do it correctly. I have raced since '91 and in a Latemodel since '95 I have raced weekly at 8-9 different tracks and ran occasionally at another 20 at least from Colorado, Wyoming, Arizona, Nebraska, Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Illinois, and Ohio. I have seen some of the craziest, cheatingest racers become great promoters. Moon wants to try it and I am going to help. He is sacrificing a lot! He has to come back from Texas, and giving up driving. That's huge for a guy that's raced his whole life primarily as a job.

kingeddie I know all about Jims background and I understand what its all about. But some of the hype about the Venom tire stuff was because he knows it is being used by so many people. And I know by my own experience being around racing for 30 years it was around before that. It came down to if ya cant beat them join them. Probably could have released a list of who bought the stuff. The other thing people around here also never mention is the fact that Davis Traction control was created here. Anyone that doesn't believe that it is used are plain NIEVE. I live 100miles west of St. Louis and know people come this way and beyond and sell their illegal used equipment. Some are your St. Louis heroes but I'm not a rat so I wont name names. They should be ashamed, but egos and winning at all costs is all that matters to some and as a racer you just have to accept it or join them. I have never joined them like some have. I've seen uncompetitive drivers become competitive and competitive drivers become winners by cheating. I have also seen winning drivers that haven't cheated try the cheating deals and go backwards too. Unfortunately it is part of our sport, if we can eliminate it we will. We plan on having a good tech team. Not just one guy at the scales part time. Tech done on top 3 after every race night. Eventually build a Tech barn to do in depth tech inspections. There wont be any preferential treatment towards anyone. If my son or I are found with anything out of spec and found illegal I expect to be penalized!!!!! No margin of error will be allowed and no excuses.
And Kreke, I just wish everyone could just let bygones be bygones and make up. Jim will not be driving, and he doesn't have any real close friends in this area. So he should be pretty impartial, he promised to me he isn't harboring any hard feelings toward anyone. And hopes everyone else can do the same.
This is being done to fill a void for this area, there has been too many tracks in mid Missouri close and this is on the eastern edge. The only positive has been the return of Moberlys track and Lucas oil Speedway, 80 and 160miles away to the west/southwest. The loss of Central Missouri, Lake Ozark/Capitol, State fair, I-70, St. Charles, Godfrey, and others over the years have changed the face of racing in the area. Getting MMP back open and as an option is a good thing.
We chose UMP sanction to draw St. Louis area racers, an earlier thread I asked what people would think of USRA mods to appeal to racers to the west. We determined because of this website and the fact this track has always promoted to the east rather than the west it is probably best to stick with UMP for now. Eventually if more interest is shown that bringing a different set of rules for the mods, and more big money mod shows such as USMTS. We might switch to USRA eventually, but only if guys that run UMP mods now show the interest. Quincy over the years has faced the same dilemma being on the edge of UMP, USRA and IMCA country. It makes it very difficult to draw from all 3 sanctions and keep everyone happy in the modified class.
Jim and I are Latemodel guys so we got that down, you have Supers or Limiteds/crates. No brainer there for us UMP supers for sure and $200 to start and allow a wrs D-55 tire too. And to any doubters that you cant have UMP lates and USRA mods look at Monet, MO. It doesn't have an impact on the decision. Catering to St.Louis and appealing to the west does. So support us!
The past few days I have been trying to figure a stock car, streetstock, sportsman class that can grow and rules that can draw from all those type of cars with some tweaking. The guys in this class must speak up!
I promise as long as I'm involved, this will be an honest respectable business. There is a lot of potential here, I have spent my life being the peacemaker at about everything I have been involved with. And anyone that knows my wife and her love of racing knows we have the passion for it and how I have to be the peacemaker. If I have to put out some fires that someone starts I can probably get it done. Jim is the one in charge he makes the final decisions, anyone is welcome to come out on Wednesday the 20th at 6pm at the
American Legion in Warrenton, MO
the address is
28855 Legion Trail
Warrenton, MO 63383
Bring Opinions, Suggestions, Questions, or interests in helping the track..

Might try to make the meeting,MAYBE jim i can have a talk and get somethings straightened out. It is a nice track just needs better prep, and some good leadership,we shall see.Its a long way to March. And no Iam not a keyboard racer,BEEN AROUND RACING SINCE 1969 And owner of a latemodel. Trace keep up the PR it might change some of us old guys? Thanks Dino

Well the only thing that will possibly hold the whole thing together is Westling being in it. If it was the Moon man on his own wouldnt fly too well. As i respect your opinion towards Jim his attitudes at the beginning of this year at tracks he went too was all over the road. He crashed people. Did a video to demean Feger gettin caught but yet he was a Tire Venom dealer and proceeded to explain how he got caught. Also if Jim had flipped one of your cars under a caution would your opinion still be the same? Let things just go? I dont know. If he had done that to one of my kids cars i couldnt let it go so easy. The things that happened that night were one thing but to do something that intentional is another. How is he going to justify setting rules and enforcing them when he has bent and broke them in years past? Just food for thought. Yes im glad the track is open. The pay is awesome for the lates. Should draw cars and letting the other tires run is a plus as well. But the whole Moon deal just sets a bad tone to alot of people around here from the things he has done and he has said. I wish the track luck and maybe he can change the opinion people have of him as a person
