Its Official: Montgomery Motorsports Park will open in 2014

ModRacer_1s you are correct, every week the class drew 20-25 cars. You would think that with the lack of any local tracks running B-Mods promoters would see the potential of that market. Just take a look at the turn out that the local tracks have the one or two times a year that actually run. Also take in consideration all the B-Mod racers on here that lobby for a place to run and there is no doubt the turn out would be successful.

make a set of rules for pures that will work in that area why but heads with stl area racers they hav 3-4 tracks to run on locally with the economy the way it is they are not going to go all the way out there if you read most of the post they say we can get out there now and then make it affordable 8in wheels mod take off tires holley 500 2brll or rodchester 2brll small cam cast manifolds or headers with 2 inch collectors stock flywheel and clutch or stock convertor with fluid compression rule stock appearing bodies 3200 lbs stock firewalls floorpans etc --- but whatever you decide tech the cars-----tech-them and give the class alittle time to grow once peaple see ur going to police ur rules they will prob build or make there changes

Stock car Rules will be set but I have had one guy that has volunteered working on a good set of rules that might cover the possibilities, no one else has actually done anything to help. Tracks closest to MMP is Fulton, Quincy, Moberly then Tri City and Peavely. There are like 4 different rules between them. Maybe there will be a pole next week? Maybe Monday everything will be set in stone already. Heck people The deal broke only 24 hours ago. If someone has a good idea and presents it good it will be considered, but criticizing about the possibilities and saying its all going to be the same IS NOT SELLING A GOOD IDEA OR GIVING GOOD INPUT. All I'm asking is if you want to run MMP in a stock car which rules do you want? Not to just show up, respond NOW and then we will have a clear set by December 7th.....Hopefully

Sorry about the B mod decision if all goes well and things run smooth maybe sometime they could be added but that's not anything I have any control over. I'm just releasing what I can at this time. And asking for input for Stock cars.

And if there are people out there that might want to help. I have had ZERO personal messages regarding anything with contact info to give the new promoter.

I have a couple people on my list for Tech inspections, if there is someone out there with enough knowledge you might think can do it pass on contact info. I'm a firm believer on tech. If I have any say in the matter I would require a safety tech every week. and a Tech barn built and an inspection done for the top 3 in every division every week! We will see what the decision is. I'm only helping so if the new guy says yes or no we will find someone to do it. I'm glad people are concerned that tech was a problem in the past, I agree completely.

Jimmy just posted a news release for who the new Promoter is. Its Jim Moon. I know there will be some flack about it, but the guy has done nothing but race his whole life. Agree or disagree with him he can grab the attention and promote this place. He will not be racing. So people don't judge it yet. I think it can work. Give it a chance. He knows all the ends and out with rules and he will know exactly what to look for.

For a stock class the focus should be on locals being the bulk of the car count. So no matter which way you go you have to stick with it and give it time. It might take a year or two to get people near MMP to build cars. You can't rely on pulling cars from these other tracks as most guys don't run more than once a weekend unless its for a special race. The cool thing about the TCS rules is you can have specials that pay extra and get a lot of cars. If you go with your own set of rules your guys won't ever get to race for extra pay.

I for one like to see the track run the track without ump so the drivers don't have to pay the license fee. Lot of us are not running for ump points just for the love of the sport. Think about it you can let the sportsmanship run with the street stocks but make the sportsmans run a smaller rear gear. That should make make for a good battle just a thought.

The sport is all ready costing a lot of teams and family's money that's why a lot of teams giving it up. We have to make it fun again for the drivers teams and fans. Example due a way with the pill draw let the drivers run a one lap qualifing lap. Fast time starts in the back and the slower times start at the front fans would like to see that . Sometimes old school thing work. Let's put racing back in to racing and the fans will come.

Not many locals run stocks but I have been talking to a couple that are. And tcs usra with some penalties for aluminum bodies and engine combos it might get a good field to build off of.

The only sanction will be mods and latemodels. Almost have to have rules written in stone due to travelers. I like the usra stock car rules but they will need to be altered because there would be single digit car counts. & 4cyl are going to be very stock.

I think most locals to MMP have b mods. But, I am happy the track will open again and would like to know what I could do to help. Thanks for the updates, Trace.

I have no horse in the bmod/sportsman/streetstock talk, but I would have to say as a fan that made almost every race date in 2012 the bmods at most times were hard to watch. On many nights they couldnt get a start or restart done without a spinout trying to win the race on lap one. And bmod297 you complain about the Amod/Late model class always having the same winners, the bmod class was no different at mmp either Conoyer, Floyd, Richards or Yates every week.

Craig. Since your so close to the track you might be a good asset. I will get a number for ya when Jim has a better idea what shoes need filled.

The point is they will need people from around the track to get back into racing and build cars. You can't rely on the cars from other tracks in this class as most guys won't race more than once a weekend.

run sportsman and race on Friday or sunday grantie had us 3 nights and had a average of 20 cars what more do u want in a support class

Like most have said on here run a TCS type Street stock, USRS and IMCA hobbies are pretty close to those rules, Keep it on street tires as all 3 of those run street tires, no one will go out and buy an extra set of tires just to come race there. You might want to rethink the b-mod option and run the USRA/IMCA UMP sport mod rules, they are all pretty close and provide some dang good racing. But whatever set of rules you go with stick with them and give it time, 1 year is not long enough, give it 3-4 years and let the classes grow. And sell beer, I don't drink but I know a lot of people that wouldn't go to the track in 2012 because of that and it makes money. I am 30-40 mins from the track and would be willing to help out in any way that I can.

I'm getting most response for those rules so its most likely. But was thinking mod tires takeoffs could be used. Appears most clearly want a dot type tire. I have had a guy put together a set of rules that look pretty good. We will go over them over the next few days and decide.
The beer sales deal Jim hasn't talked to me about but I dont drink either and know it kept people away and cost at least a couple thousand in profits weekly in 2012. At the very least allow people to pay a few bucks to bring in a cooler. I should know more on that sometime today.
Racerman pm me your name and number and what skills you have and I will pass it on.
