locked front end vs. TRACTION CONTROL

Traction Control will cause more problems than a locked diff! Everybody had welded spider gears in the Street Stock class when they started it.That was when racing was more fun than the pi$$ing contests we have now in the support classes in this area. JMHO:) There will be rule benders no matter what class you are running. God, I miss racing in the 80s. Just a thought. We bent a few rules, too.;)

Nathan, I noticed the #23 car won the feature at I-55 this weekend. I also find it extremely entertaining that you edited your last post Saturday night as well. Was this before or after the Pro-4 feature?
On a side note, I see Crump started dead last and finished 3rd. Daaaam Dude!!! That thing must have been hooked up!

Yea rob, the 23 car won the feature. With a driver that has been around for quite some time and an entertaining series of events that led to the win. see all the dnf's. I got to give it to mike, once he got out front he was on a mission. But he also has raced for a long time and i was not suprised with his success. We wouldnt just let any joe blow off the street drive this car, it has to be around for a while longer.

He didn't just inherit the lead, he made some good passes to get there. Mike did an excellent job and once out front he ran smooth consistent lines. That car kind of reminds me of the old Dave Heindrich days though, almost unbeatable if bad luck doesn't show her ugly face.

Good race Mike.

That 186 car had its tongue hanging out after that race. It was an impressive run.

Well sign me up for that ride! I'll have to admit, I was surprised to see that car in the winners circle. But I think you were even more surprised than me when you hurried up and edited your post. It didn't seem like you had that much confidence in your driver before that race.

That "Heindrich" car was one BA car. I don't think the 23 has quite that much hp.

Rob,

Yep, it was hooked up and it was the 186 not the white car. The circumstance that Nathan spoke about helped a lot with that progress. Also The gentleman that won the feature is no dumy and has had alot of input into how Chris drives the car. I am not sure if i had anything for the 23, only a another caution would have answered that question.

Also, don't get your panties in a wad about DOHC running at I-55 the decisions hasn't been made. If i were to guess it probably won't happen. It doesn't matter to much to me, I wont be running the pro-4 next year.

And you can keep your drama about whats legal and whats not in Il. You have heard me make the comment before; Hey pot its the kettle your black. I have a pretty good idea of what you are doing with cars to make them a little faster. Don't start your drama over here we have had a good thing for several years.

Good luck in the big shows coming up.

No disrespect intended.

Just lock it up.

Never said mike inherited the lead, just an entertaining series of events. The only thing the 23 car has in common with heindricks old car is they are both neons. i raced againgt dave in that cars prime and he would damn near lap the field. sounded like a mod going by you.

Rob, you just dont stop do you. i was warned by some fellow racers about you and your "if i do it its legal and what you do is not" attitude. I was just pleading our case because we really enjoyed racing at tri city and i wanted to show that a locked front end was not any more of an advantage against the cars that are there. Dont worry, we wont be back. not because we dont want to, but because we were threatened with being protested. sorry to have bothered you and caused any more problems. that wasnt the idea of the post. just hoped to shed some light on the situation and be able to come back, but that obviously wont happen.

Sorry, just when you mentioned the DNF's I miss interpreted what you were getting at.

Not implying anything about the Heindrich car other than they both are/were bad fast.

Sorry, I sometimes get confused w/ which Toyota is which number. Good job!

OMG! I'm going to have to unsubscribe to this thread. I can't get anything done today!
I'm sure Crump and every other person has heard things that I do to my cars. After all I let everyone know my secrets. Even the promoters know and none of them have deemed my cars illegal for any reason.
This thread was not started by me and I was only giving Nathan a hard time about editing his post about seeing how much it is the driver with the 23 car. Other than that this was only a good old fashion debate.

Rob you don't have anymore good deals on trucks. That thing is sweet with no miles.

Rob, its one in the same, we can do things that they turn a blind eye to as well. You can do things to computers and transmissions and we can lock gears and such. Who cares lets race, In the end if you cant drive it well enough it wont win races. You and Zibenden (Sp??) are good drivers and shouldn't complain to officials every time someone shows up with a chance at a win.

No one at I-55 complained about you guys coming in and taking (I think) the first 2 spots when there was only 3 DOHC cars there. $hit I even told them that its only fair to allow DOHC cars to race. I was even accused of sand bagging when you guys came out to make it look like the cars were that different in speed. Not the case, just a bad night. I wanted nothing more than to beat the 99 at my home track.

Schmidt, I am pretty sure that was addressed to Rob. Rob and I have had our differences in the past and can discuss this with out destroying each other next time we are at the same track. And I sincerely meant no disrespect. See you at the next big show.

all i can say is i 55 cars are alot diff than cars that run highland and tri city. it seems like i 55 has no rules. msd ign, lockd trannys, it goes on and on. i think shaw has a verry good point about it all. but rules are rules and ppl need to follow them

sorry, I don't have any other low mileage trucks:(

I went to the rules meeting's, told the promoters what I was doing, and everyone at the meeting voted on it. There was no blind eye! All parts are stock for the make and model.

Just a question

wouldn't the locked diff make the fwd's push more by allowing both wheels to spin in the turn? if the diff was not locked wouldnt the inside tire drive and allow the outside tire to slip thus giving it the chance to have traction? not sure never ran a car with the diff locked. makes no difference to me i never have and never will put 2 3 or ever 4 grand into a car where all you get at the end of the night if you win is what maybe 200 to 300 to win if it is a special night other than that what a cool hundred. just doesn't add up to me. and as some found out you can sit for 4 races at i55 if you are at the top everyweek. there again doesn't add up for me. I had ran the pro 4 class due to its affordability but hell now if i am going to have to put lots of cash in a car for a budget class car or beginner class i am going to go e-mod or b mod.

I hate to see someone say that Officials turn a blind eye without stating some facts. So I thought about it and here are some facts as I know it. According to Alied, “at I-55 so little purse is paid to this class ( AARA pays a total of $150 on a normal nite 1-50 2-30-3-20 4-10 & a 40 mystery spot)we do not tech much. we usually are mostly concerned with safety. we let the claim rule control the class.” At Highland in 2006 there were 6 of the top ten cars that lost all their points in the last month of the season because they bent the rules too far and the officials refused to “turn a blind eye”. At Macon Speedway the current runner up for National UMP points doesn’t even run his own car because it won’t pass tech and Charleston Speedway checked for locked front ends as early as two weeks ago.

Dozer79, I obviously don't know anything about locked front ends. But I do know a thing or two about running up front with a completely stock race car. I have a Saturn with the original motor/auto trans/and computer, the vin #s match on all. This car has 220k original miles on everything and I paid $250 race ready for it last year. Please do not get discouraged! Choose your race car wisely. You can’t expect an 8 valve 90hp car to run with a 16 valve 135hp car even if there both SOHC. Like I said before, the more people that believe their not getting cheated the more that will get into this class!

Here is what this car can do against my own cars, Zbindens 180hp Quad4, and a lot of I-55 cars as well:
