I just got a call from Trashdog and he informed me they had a pretty brawl in the pits at Brownstown tonight between Rodney Melvin's crew and Mark Voigts crew. Voigt left and some of the participants got hauled away in handcuffs!! I'm sure the Dog will have a complete report when he gets home.. Right now storm clouds are moving in.

Ed Linhart was in a bad flip, but he got it back together and made the "B" main.

More to come, it must be a wild night....

voigts been in a few brawls lately lol whats up with him.. he was fast at belleville friday till he got black flagged.. o well

Come on guys, how many of Voights crew does it take to beat up a 14yr. & 15 yr olds, and a lady and an old fat man? It looked to me like they needed more.

I herd voigt got kicked out of b-town forever! because of what was going on with melvin. I also herd a 14 year old was punched in the face by one of voigt's crew because he said something to them. and I also herd some people were taken away by the police.

It wasn't pretty. Both teams should be ashamed. Eventually someone needs to step-up and be the better man!

I heard and "saw" Charlie tell Voight that he is out for the rest of the year. I'm sure there will be some court dates over this one.

Will UMP Officials investigate this??? What are the consequences for leaving your pit and fighting??

I went to see my man Ed Dixon-who by the way should have won the feature. I was walking through the pits and SAW. Rodney came into the 30 pit and pounded on Voights car. Rick and his sons were trying to get Rodney to leave. There was lots of heated discussion. The Hecks were leaving, some final words were exchanged and the 14 year old was punched in the head by one of Voights guys. They went to the ground wrestling, Rick Heck jumped on top and looked to be covering his son from getting punched and kicked. While Rick was on the ground one of Voights big guys was hitting and kicking Rick. Heck was on the ground and was not able to fight back. It broke up but not before one of Voights guys pushed a lady who was with the Hecks. Might have been Ricks wife. The cops came and handcuffed and arrested two of Voights guys.

Side note- Shame on the Voight crew and shame on Rodney for going in someones pit area. The Hecks got the worst of it just because they were trying to get Rodney back to his own pits. One more note- if Voight and Melvin continues to drive the way they are this will happen again.

Melvin's crew are not angels, Friday night a lady with Melvin's crew, (someone said it was Rodney's sister) was sitting in the bleachers SCREAMING at a lady standing on the ground with an Ed Dixon shirt.

I'm sure the lady with a Dixon shirt was cheering for Dixon who was leading the feature, and I'm also sure she was cheering because Dixon was catching Melvin to lap him. But I don't think the lady knew Melvin's sister was in the bleachers behind her.

I understand Friday was a fustrating night for Rodney (hit wall in hot laps, and time trials, and got blocked behind slower cars in the feature) but it is NO excuse. Everyone cheers for their favorite and boos the opposition.

Imagine this, I was there to see the races, but this is the first I heard of it. Oh well, its not my place.

Congratulations Weaver, harrison, and Sandiford! And thank you to dixon and WEber for coming out, its the first I have seen some of my favorite drivers in two years! And thanks to Korte, I always have enjoyed your driving.

I've "heard" that Voigt said this year, if you're in front of him, it's your fault when he spins you out.....just a rumor....but I've seen Voigt's name coming up a lot here lately.

Well, it sure sounds like a lot of people believe what they hear. I was there and arguements between drivers are gonna happen all the hecks were doing was trying to get Melvin calmed down AFTER Voigt was in Melvins face down at the scales. The guy who hit ricks wife in the face and then proceeded to throw her to the ground ought to feel proud hitting a woman who was trying to get four guys off her 14year old son. Also just to let you know noone hit rick until he was on the ground covering his son from these guys cause they all weren't man enough to take him on standing up. I like the Hecks and I like Voigt but from what I seen it wasn't Voigt it was some guys who thought they would be tough and beat up a 14year old. by the way congrats to Smokey on making the show after that scary flip. Also too bad Denny Schwartz didn't get destroyed in the feature after what he did to Dean Vickers. I really think Dean would have won the mod feature. Paybacks are a _itch!!!!

my goodness!!!!!! seems like alot of tempers flared last night.....i dont care what is said, you dont hit a 14 yr old or a woman.....and i wasnt there but i am sure rodney did say something to the other guy....but that happens everywhere....that doesnt mean to start swinging at every person in sight....

I am not really concerned with the whole fitting incident, but I do think it is a little suspicious that Voigt was thrown out and Melvin (and Heck) got to stay. If you are to throw anyone out it should be BOTH PARTIES.
Just my opinion.

I think it was crap that Melvin didn’t get thrown out and Voigt did!!!!! But he got a little of what he deserved back to him. He spun out while running somewhere near the front.

I am wondering why the UMP fight rule, you know, the $100 fine, a weeks suspension, a years probation or whatever it is isnt being applied. UMP clearly states that drivers are responsible for their crews. This was at the UMP CoC event, right?

Don't The Rules State That If You Or Any Crew Member Goes Into Another Pit Area And Start A Fight, The (team) Will Be Asked To Leave?????????????

Ump Rules

Here are the UMP rules as stated on www.umpracing.com

60. Any participant who fights in pits, on track or on race premises will be suspended from all UMP events for 1 week, and fined $100.00, and is on 1 year probation. Second fight driver is suspended for 2 weeks, & fined $200.00. Any driver in a third fight will be suspended from all UMP races for 1 year and fined $1,000.00. All drivers are responsible for all crew members.

61. No driver or pit crew member shall subject any UMP promoter or official to threats or abusive or improper language at any time. Any driver or pit crew member who assaults or threatens any UMP promoter or official may be fined up to $1,000.00 and suspended indefinitely from all UMP events until fine is paid and reinstatement is approved by UMP board.

Fayette County Rules---For some reason I think this just got updated!!!
http://www.fayettecospeedway.com/track_rules.htmNOTE: Anyone caught fighting in the pits or grandstands will be escorted off the premises and will be barred from ALL Fayette County Speedway sponsored events for the remainder of the 2004 Season!
