OT: Bush is an embarrassment - what a piece of crap

It sounds like Milsey, is your typical monday morning quarterback. "I voted for the loser twice", but now im gonna complain. Well crybaby we have him for three more years..Remember that the next time your at the poles..

i sit here and read what everyone is saying, and feel they believe. Let me ask again, for all that is against the war and President Bush. Ask the thousands of family members from 9/11, ask the hundreds of family members from the TWA flight, ask the millions of individuals and there families throughout not only the USA, but the world. WHY is President Bush so intense on putting a huge stumbling block in terrorism, why is he so hell bent on still finding weapons of mass destruction (YES, I for one still believe Suddam had them, and intended on using each and every one). Ask yourself again, would you feel comfortable flying on a nice vacation to anywhere overseas, or on a short business trip here in the USA, without everything President Bush, and both Repulican and Democrats are doing to stop this. I am not a republican, not a democrat, i vote for who i feel will do the best job. NOBODY can tell me, that if we had anyone else in that job, that we would be fighting this fight that should have been taken care of in the 1st Gulf war. And a president who did 8 years in office, not doing much of anything to help the same. be thankfull that we have in office who is there, be very thankfull.

for the remarks about Dick Cheney, i am with you, I dont agree with alot of what he does and has done with Haliburton. WE NEED our troops to be equipped with all the essentials they need, from food to armor, from training to manpower.

for the remarks of base closers, I personally feel base closers for the most part a really good thing, we are spread out way to much. WHY? because some congressman/woman wanted a base in there district many years ago, found a way to get it, and they got it. It costs alot less tax paying dollars to have less bases, and relocating what was there, which is what is being done.

for the hybrid cars? i have been to many countries overseas, many countries have it from all makes of vehicles, yes even Ford, GMC, and Dodge. I have a friend i work with here in the USA has a hybrid, Honda getting 70mpg in the city, bought at a fairly reasonable price, so yes they are here if you want. Remember the Ford Escort? that was one bad SOB overseas, i rented one for 2 weeks, overhead cam and powered by Cosworth. Wont be here, why? ask quality of air extremists, ask the Oil companies here, ask the big US big 3.

Since I am on this, ask your child in school, why is Spanish being taught in 1st grade, dont you feel they should learn proper English 1st? and other languages as a secondary and as a option?
I am close to retirement, you have any idea how many places will not hire because I AM NOT BI-LINGUAL? I thought i lived in the USA and my countries language is ENGLISH, shouldnt they be bi-lingual and not ME?

Why are alot of major companies going overseas to operate and import the product back here? Which President Bush and his Cabinet are trying to get back here.

so please dont blame or get irrate about a president who is doing a job that you may not like, but has to be done!!!!

want to get irrate? ask a veteran from Vietnam, why the H*** Jane Fonda is still in this country?

asking one last time, would you feel safe, if this war never started or is continuing?

and then go look in the mirror and smile, because you have the right to express your opinion, about anything you wish to!

CNGARCING, I liked your posts and agreed with everything except the part about killing small block chevies. LOL AK

if he had them why didnt he use them when he knew we were coming for him?
not like he was caught off guard.. he knew we were coming for him.. so dont you think that would be the time to use them if he had them?

Whiners - Read But You Will Not Understand

To all you whiners out there who cannot see beyond you immediate lives, the following excerpt is a good summary of why the leaders of this nation do things you do not understand. It keeps the war from being waged on our soil at the greater cost of you protected "A**ES". You have the ability to whine excessively about things you cannot possibly understand because of the vision of our leaders.

A must read historical account of Terrorism against the US ~

This is not very long, but very informative. You have to read the catalogue of events in this brief piece. Then, ask yourself how anyone can take the position that all we have to do is bring our troops home from Iraq, sit back, reset the snooze alarm, go back to sleep, and no one will ever bother us again. In case you missed it, World War III began in November 1979... that alarm has been ringing for years.

US Navy Captain Ouimette is the Executive Officer at Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Florida. Here is a copy of the speech he gave last month. It is an accurate account of why we are in so much trouble today and why this action is so necessary.

AMERICA NEEDS TO WAKE UP!

That's what we think we heard on the 11th of September 2001 (When more than 3,000 Americans were killed -AD) and maybe it was, but I think it should have been "Get Out of Bed!" In fact, I think the alarm clock has been buzzing since 1979 and we have continued to hit the snooze button and roll over for a few more minutes of peaceful sleep since then.

It was a cool fall day in November 1979 in a country going through a religious and political upheaval when a group of Iranian students attacked and seized the American Embassy in Tehran. This seizure was an outright attack on American soil; it was an attack that held the world's most powerful country hostage and paralyzed a Presidency. The attack on this sovereign U. S. embassy set the stage for events to follow for the next 25 years.

America was still reeling from the aftermath of the Vietnam experience and had a serious threat from the Soviet Union when then, President Carter, had to do something. He chose to conduct a clandestine raid in the desert. The ill-fated mission ended in ruin, but stood as a symbol of America's inability to deal with terrorism.

America's military had been decimated and down sized/right sized since the end of the Vietnam War. A poorly trained, poorly equipped and poorly organized military was called on to execute a complex mission that was doomed from the start.

Shortly after the Tehran experience, Americans began to be kidnapped and killed throughout the Middle East. America could do little to protect her citizens living and working abroad. The attacks against US soil continued.

In April of 1983 a large vehicle packed with high explosives was driven into the US Embassy compound in Beirut When it explodes, it kills 63 people. The alarm went off again and America hit the Snooze Button once more.

Then just six short months later in 1983 a large truck heavily laden down with over 2500 pounds of TNT smashed through the main gate of the US Marine Corps headquarters in Beirut and 241 US servicemen are killed. America mourns her dead and hit the Snooze Button once more.

Two months later in December 1983, another truck loaded with explosives is driven into the US Embassy in Kuwait, and America continues her slumber.

The following year, in September 1984, another van was driven into the gate of the US Embassy in Beirut and America slept.

Soon the terrorism spreads to Europe. In April 1985 a bomb explodes in a restaurant frequented by US soldiers in Madrid.

Then in August 1985 a Volkswagen loaded with explosives is driven into the main gate of the US Air Force Base at Rhein-Main, 22 are killed and the snooze alarm is buzzing louder and louder as US interests are continually attacked.

Fifty-nine days later in 1985 a cruise ship, the Achille Lauro is hijacked and we watched as an American in a wheelchair is singled out of the passenger list and executed.

The terrorists then shift their tactics to bombing civilian airliners when they bomb TWA Flight 840 in April of

1986 that killed 4 and the most tragic bombing, Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland in 1988, killing 259.

Clinton treated these terrorist acts as crimes; in fact we are still trying to bring these people to trial. These are acts of war.

The wake up alarm is getting louder and louder.

The terrorists decide to bring the fight to America. In January 1993, two CIA agents are shot and killed as they enter CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia.

The following month, February 1993, a group of terrorists are arrested after a rented van packed with explosives is driven into the underground parking garage of the World Trade Center in New York City. Six people are killed and over 1000 are injured. Still this is a crime and not an act of war? The Snooze alarm is depressed again.

Then in November 1995 a car bomb explodes at a US military complex in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia killing seven service men and women.

A few months later in June of 1996, another truck bomb explodes only 35 yards from the US military compound in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. It destroys the Khobar Towers, a US Air Force barracks, killing 19 and injuring over 500. The terrorists are getting braver and smarter as they see that America does not respond decisively.

They move to coordinate their attacks in a simultaneous attack on two US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania.. These attacks were planned with precision. They kill 224. America responds with cruise missile attacks and goes back to sleep.

The USS Cole was docked in the port of Aden, Yemen for refueling on 12 October 2000, when a small craft pulled along side the ship and exploded killing 17 US Navy Sailors. Attacking a US War Ship is an act of war, but we sent the FBI to investigate the crime and went back to sleep.

And of course you know the events of 11 September 2001. Most Americans think this was the first attack against US soil or in America. How wrong they are. America has been under a constant attack since 1979 and we chose to hit the snooze alarm and roll over and go back to sleep.

In the news lately we have seen lots of finger pointing from every high officials in government over what they knew and what they didn't know. But if you've read the papers and paid a little attention I think you can see exactly what they knew. You don't have to be in the FBI or CIA or on the National Security Council to see the pattern that has been developing since 1979.

The President is right on when he says we are engaged in a war. I think we have been in a war for the past 25 years and it will continue until we as a people decide enough is enough. America needs to "Get out of Bed" and act decisively now. America has been changed forever.. We have to be ready to pay the price and make the sacrifice to ensure our way of life continues. We cannot afford to keep hitting the snooze button again and again and roll over and go back to sleep.

After the attack on Pearl Harbor, Admiral Yamamoto said "... it seems all we have done is awakened a sleeping giant." This is the message we need to disseminate to terrorists around the world.

Support Our Troops and support President Bush for having the courage, political or militarily, to address what so many who preceded him didn't have the backbone to do, both Democrat and Republican. This is not a political thing to be hashed over in an election year this is an AMERICAN thing. This is about our Freedom and the Freedom of our children in years to come.

i wasnt going to say anything about the comment made, that people were lied to when they joined the service. there college money, there other benefits of sighning up. let me think, yes i am fairly sure, that they are or were a soldier, sailor, marine, guardsman, or airmen 1st and foremost. To protect and defend this nation of ours.

I personally have heard it many times from people i have been stationed with, i never joined to go to war, or go overseas, or do this or that, i joined for the money they gave me to sign up, i joined for the education i got, i joined for the experience to get a better job in the civilian world, i joined for the college benefit.

GIMME A FRIGGEN BREAK, you get all that and alot more!!!!

i will agree that all servicemen and women do not get paid adequately, just like Police Officers dont, just like teachers dont.

and by the way, thanks, i know what i wanna do when i retire. Politics what a great job.

I will not EVEN start with what I think about the President! But I would like to say that I have noticed at least in my area, that ALL the gas stations and convenience stores are owned by dark skinned people. I am NOT a racist, but it would seem to me that they are the ones who want to bring Americans to their knees with high gas prices. The President certainly SHOULD do something, but that would tick off the arabs and they are his buddies, so until we get a new Persident (prolly a democrat) we can just forget about that. Do yall realize what would happen in this country if these people who own these gas stations and convenience stores decided to STOP selling us fuel?? And they CAN do that at any time and most likely get away with it! Our problem is letting people into this country. The "great melting pot" is overflowing with people who want to do us harm in any way possible. It's time we close our borders and do something to find out who is truly an American and send the rest of them back to where they came from. Until we get a president who will have the balls to do that, we are screwed america!!

hmmm ..then i guess all there be is indians around...

but i do agree somewhat with ya..

Well, it's great to see that there are some rational thinkers on this board...Al Kreke, roundy8, 7h racing, and JG Racing. Sorry if i missed anyone.

Millsey, we are tapping the strategic reserve. That's a temporary fix. As I recall, you were on here moaning about oil prices a couple weeks back. Again, do you have any other brilliant ideas to bring down crude prices?

My idea for you would be to go to a local library and read an Economics 101 textbook. You might learn a little about supply and demand.

A quote from the Wall St. Journal today..."Until now, energy prices have been rising largely because of robust DEMAND in the US, China, and other GROWING economies." The entire article doesn't have one paragraph about W being behind the higher oil prices. It's all about supply and demand!

Tornado 70, god bless you for your service to our country. Without you, who knows how bad we'd have it in this country.

Well my questions still haven't been answered.

1. What have we gained by liberating Iraq? (prove to me that America is safer)

2. Where are all of Sadams weapons of mass destruction?

3. What is the "Just Cause" now?

4. If making the world and America a safer place was the "real" goal of this war,
why are we sitting idle while North Korea is manufacturing and testing Nukes?

5. Why are we not still looking for OBL? (troops are in Afghanistan as a police action,
not actively searching for OBL, the pres. has stated that. In fact his exact
words were "We don't have time for Osama Bin Laden".)

6. Why are we closing military bases and cutting pay for soldiers and benefits
for vets? (could it be because we have a president who is spending more than any other president in history?)

Annual military pay raises are linked to the increase in private sector wages. Beginning with the January 1, 2000 pay raise, annual pay raises through 2006 were to be one-half percent above private-sector average increases as measured by the Employment Cost Index (ECI). This is an important change. Since passage of a 1990 law, the annual military pay raise was capped at one-half percent below private-sector growth unless specifically granted a larger increase by Congress. The FY2000 National Defense Authorization Act directed that pay raises for 2000 through 2006 will automatically be one-half percent above the private-sector wage increases. Pay raises may exceed these automatic levels if authorized and funded by Congress.
In January 2004, officers and enlisted members received a minimum of 3.7% pay raise. Some grades with certain years of service received a higher increase--up to 6.25%. The average increase was 4.1%.

In January 2005, the military pay raise for all grades was 3.5%.

i agree with king eddy.you guys that are BACKING president bush, answer these questions i am interested in hearing the response.personally if we dont do something we are gonna be in BIG trouble.WE the poeple need to just ban together and get something done.i never realized what we had with clinton till bush was elected, same goes for the RAT matt blunt!

for all that read this post, and for all that wish to add to this post, remember just one thing. that you have the right and privelidge to do just that, express your opinion without consequence. i for one, am a avid Bush supporter, I for one am a member of the greatest military in the world, I for one, am a very proud american. ask yourself, ask your neighbor, ask your co worker, where would this world be, where would this nation be, if it not be for our president who is doing a job that should have been done years ago, many years ago. you are very correct in thinking and feeling and wanting our brothers and sisters of the armed services back home, i for one do with all my heart. but, they are there doing a job, a service to this nation, a service to the world.

as for your oil concern, i would 1st send a letter or an e mail or a post in stlracing.com, to the head of anyone of the many oil companies 1st!!! every national disaster they raise there prices, why? because they are money hungry. WHY come in here and bash a president who may not be doing what YOU want, but what is best for this country and best for the world. NO it is not the correct political decision to be over there in a war that will take a very long time, and possibly more lives, but my friend it is the correct one!!!! WE do not need terrorism in this country or anyother one.

more i read what i am writing, i get upset even that much more. I ask each and every person who reads this thread, send a thank you, send a smile, keep open arms for a hug, when they do come home.

GOD BLESS AMERICA, GOD BLESS EACH AND EVERY AMERICAN

GOD BLESS EACH AND EVERY SERVICE MAN AND WOMAN
AMEN! Very well said! It's amazing how people blame President Bush for everything that they don't like! If he had total control of all this - he would be called a DICTATOR, not a President. I hate the way the Oil companies are killing us and the economy and making billions in profits. But, folks, Bush doesn't tell them what to do - their CEO's do.

Thanks kreke13!

As far as the killing small block Chevys… Well… As for now I’m a reformed killer of SBC’s! I’m proud to say, I haven’t kilt me one in nearly two years! (Which happens to coincide to the time I fired myself as engine build… Hum, a coincidence I think?  ) Although I couldn’t bring myself to quite the violence against all things mechanical cold turkey! I’ve inflicted some pain and suffering on a transmission or two since. ;)

To have the hybrid automobiles you have to have a buying market, it's just not there. The electric/gas cars are very fuel efficiant but are not sporty looking enough for the American buyer. Now, who's fault is that, not the Presidents, he's not building the cars that the majority of the American public wants. The American auto buyer are more interested in the high performance compacts and large SUV's.
also I talked to my ford dealer about a escape hybred they was only getting 1 like most dealers here and would NOT budge on price or ensentives most went to califonia

What good will releasing oil reserves do?
THERE ARE NO REFINERIES TO REFINE IT!!!
13 refineries have been affected by the hurricane and are shut down.
All other refineries are running at full capacity.
During the Carter administartion legislation was passed to make many refineries close, and regulations prevent us from building any.
Why won't the Liberals allow drilling in the ANR so WE can use less of THEIR oil?

No one thinks less gas will be used due to the hurricane. Who is driving in a flooded city? there is LESS DEMAND FOR GAS THAN THERE WAS LAST WEEK.

The WMDs WERE there, the UN inventoried and documented them. They disappeared on the UNs watch!

France, Germany and Russia voted to keep us out of Iraq because they had sweetheart deals with saddam to get oil for food, and had oil field contracts with him-which were in direct violation of all the UN sanctions those countries were party to!
No complaints from the left.

Get over it, Bush won both elections. Every time there was a recount IN THE DEMOCRAT CONTROLLED COUNTIES, Bush GAINED votes.
the problems with the votes were in DEMOCRAT controlled counties.
Blame your own party for the screw up.

yes, Algore got the popular vote. He did not win the ELECTORAL COLLEGE vote. look at a map and see how many states Bush won vs Algore.
Are you going to allow a few cities control the rest of the country?
Our Founding Fathers saw the inherent problem in this and wrote our Constitution to deal with it, and it worked perfectly. Get a candidate that is worth voting for and you won't have this problem

Now we have RFK Jr blaming Bush for the hurricane.
Might this be why the Democrats can't get anyone elected?

You complain about "rich people" running the country, yet you nominate kerry, who would have been the richest President ever.
Your words don't match your actions, which is another reason you can't get anyone elected.
the Democrats had control of the Senate since WWII and NONE of the problems they say we have were solved. All they did was raise taxes to throw more $ at the "problem" and what happened? The problems remained.
They don't want the problems solved, because if they solved the problems there would be no use for them.

You do not have a right to cheap gas.
Purchase a gallon of water and see how much it costs.

You all beotch and complain about the "problems" but when have you EVER offered ANY solutions?

One final note.

What company did Algore's father (a former senator) work for, that was owned by a known KGB operative, and Algore now has thousands of shares of stock in?

OCCIDENTAL PETROLEUM.

Yep, Algore is the solution.

There will be alternative fueled vehicles when one thing-and only one thing happens.

WE DEMAND IT. Then COMPNIES-NOT THE GOVERNMENT will supply them.

The person who asked the three questions about the function of government has it nailed perfectly.

Your politicians have brainwashed you for so long you feel the need to be on the government nipple from cradle to grave.

Bush Has A Say So Of What The Oil Companies Do,period!

Its The Us Government Remember, they Can Do Whatever The Hell They Want.so Yes It Is Just As Much Bush's Fault.he Has His Hand In The Oil Companies Is Why Nothing Is Being Done!

Argue

I think Mark Twain said it best. I could be giving credit to the wrong person but anyway "When a wise man and a fool argue, after awhile its difficult to tell which is which".

The WMDs WERE there, the UN inventoried and documented them. They disappeared on the UNs watch!

Ok, so if the WMD were there and inventoried by the UN and then disappeared, wouldn't that tell you that just maybe Sadam disarmed as he was instructed by the UN to do. Why then did the US bully its way into Iraq and try to prove the inspectors wrong? They told us for months that the weapons were not there. Was there a reason then, why "Bunkoman Bush" should doubt the inspectors findings and take matters into his own hands? We still haven't found them have we? And how much money has it cost us?

You complain about "rich people" running the country, yet you nominate kerry, who would have been the richest President ever.

No I am not complaining about rich people running the country. I am complaining about a president who is profitting from a war and from a run away giant called the US oil industry. Do you really think that the man who holds the most powerful office in the country, who has the power to introduce and push through legislation can't do anything about the runaway prices US refineries are charging us. Go back and look at your Wallstreet Journals over the last 2 years and count up how many consecutive quarters the big 3 showed record profits. I've done it, and it totals 8 quarters. Bush hasn't even thought of trying to do anything about it. Why? Because he is from an oil family.

Your words don't match your actions, which is another reason you can't get anyone elected.

Not quite sure what this statement was intended to me. What words don't match my actions?

What company did Algore's father (a former senator) work for, that was owned by a known KGB operative, and Algore now has thousands of shares of stock in?

Al Gore is not our president. What does this have to do with what George Jr. is not doing?

My 6 questions still remain unanswered.

6. Why are we closing military bases and cutting pay for soldiers and benefits
