Not entirely true. About 60% will be made here. The plans for the plane are designed to American specs. Frame and skin will be manufactured here. I think it is mainly the cicuit boards and half the avionics will be prduced in France.

From what I read in the article linked above, the plane is designed on the frame of the AirBus A330 (not what I would call American specs.)

Here is another copy/paste regarding assembly and how many jobs it will create in the US.

The EADS/Northrop Grumman team plans to perform its final assembly work in Mobile, Ala., although the underlying plane would mostly be built in Europe. And it would use General Electric engines built in North Carolina and Ohio. Northrop Grumman, which is based in Los Angeles, estimates a Northrop/EADS win would produce 2,000 new jobs in Mobile and support 25,000 jobs at suppliers nationwide.

Dude , It's because France will be building some for themselves and have AMERICAN workers doing MOST of the manufacturing and having to give money right back to the US.

First I'm not a dude. Second they are going to be giving some of the money back not all. So still tell me how this helps the US? Cause if we gave the deal to a US company then all the money would be coming back to the US.

King I'm really not trying to be stupid but in order to create these new jobs don't they need 2,000 people who are already train to do this? So what happens after the tankers are built to the jobs? How many new jobs would Boeing have created anyone know?

Obviously you're blind to your own thought process. By you're reasoning in this joint venture all money is going to France and we are gettin g nothing in return. Both countries had to make concessions in order for the deal to go through. Otherwise the plane wouldn't be coming about.

That would be "dudette".

And where did you get that information from?

Most aircraft parts are assembly line just like any other manufacturing process. Aircraft parts today are done by the R&R method. Remove and Replace. Layoffs because there are no other contracts. (That can always change). Total number of jobs I think were close to the same.

Ok so we are going to pay this French based company 40 Billion Dollars to make these tankers right? Some of it will be made in the US and some of it will be made in France right? Out of the 40 Billion dollars paid to this company they will pay US workers and French workers Right? So not all of the money will be coming back to the US only some of it.

Thanks King!

Thank you I really have NO idea on how plane assembly works.

Interesting. I think you need to re-read the article. McCain stopped the the ILLEGAL process of the Air Force trying to sideline a deal with Boeng. I DO remember that on the news and Boeing got in big trouble also. How do I know, I keep up on aviation news because I graduated from aviation maintenance school and still take active interest in aviation.

And my point is that the McCain led congressional panel lobbied specifically for AirBus (a French Company) be allowed to bid. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that about one year after France told us to "leave us out of this war"?

Look at it this way. What do you think the average French person is saying about the deal. Do you think they're happy that it's not all Airbus and French workers alone?

No offense to any other country but I don't see how we can fix there problems when we can't fix our own. As a US citizen we need to do things to fix our country and sending money to any other country is not helping. No wonder we are in a reassion.

He lobbied for Northrop/Grumman which also allied with Airbus for the joint venture. I didn't care for the French attitude either. And yes I do think it was around that time.

They are not saying anything. They are too busy laughing at the stupid Americans.

Its not the French "attitude" They (France) were supposed to be with us, or against us. Words directly from our wonderful leader when the war started. France chose to be against us. Why are we rewarding them by giving a contract to this company.

Recession is because big business keeps overcharging the public for its products and won't give there employees the raises they need to buy them. And this $600 kickback we're getting just proves we are being overtaxed.
