Rousch Crying About Toyota's

what I found to be a hoot was that Toyoto stated what impressed them them most and was the deciding factor in selecting that area for this new plant was the education level of the potential work force. Thats seems to me to be a kind way of saying, "CHEAP" work force.

I would take that as experience in working with machines in an educated and efficient environment. I’m just a "the glass is half full kind of thinker I guess ", what’s that make you?

In addition Amoflu and a few others feel that $25 an hour is to much.

$25 per hour would be $1000 per week or $4300 per month.

With an average middle class house costing nearly $200,000, that would be a $1200 per month payment, so it seems $25 per hour just barely affords a person the oppertunity to live a middle class life style.

Tell me how much do you think an average working person should be paid.

Toyota Motor Corp. gave workers at its largest U.S. plant bonuses of $6,000 to $8,000, boosting the average pay at the Georgetown, KY, plant to the equivalent of $30 an hour. That compares with a $27 hourly average for UAW workers, most of whom did not receive profit-sharing checks last year.

Honda Motor Co. and Nissan Motor Co. are not far behind Toyota and UAW pay levels.

Doesn't sound "CHEAP" to me, sounds like they pay pretty good, and their workers are rewarded for their efforts. And exactly how does where the plant will be located, equate to the level of education the people have? If I was from that area, I would be highly insulted by that remark!

I agree 100% that $25 an hour is about what you need to make it today, at least to have a half way decent lifestyle. I know many people are living on allot less than that, and doing just fine, but with the price of housing and everything else, it's a middle class income at best. So I agree and disagree with ya racefantoo. *lol* :D

yeah poor me just making 9.0 bucks an hour I only 5 bed room house 2 cars sat. tv and six lil furry things just wonder what I would have on 25 bucks an hour lol

more than you could ever pay me smart guy actually enough to go over in china to kick some butt for boxing it wrong oh midget I found out through the grapevine your dropped down to min wage or be fired

In response to the question asked by JOSEPHH, I guess thats makes me a REALIST, that area is one of the poorest and most disadvantaged areas in the country, hell it's history is so poor and hopeless it gave birth to the Delta Blues.

This is a good thing for the people, but to believe the area was chosen because of it's experienced, educated work force, get real.

So now people are whining because Toyota didn't go put their plant in a place like Clayton where all the smart people are? Its not enough that people complain because they are a foreign company but now we don't like where they put their plant in AMERICA! Come on......when is racing season going to start so people can talk about a race rather than just complain about everything.

Fred who are you trying to kid? Your 5 bedroom house must be either 100 years old or paid for, you're either getting extra income from somewhere or someone, somebody died and left you some money or the house, or your in debt up to your eyeballs with no chance of ever getting out of it, cause their ain't NO WAY NO HOW you're living comfortable on $9 bucks an hour, or making a house payment on a 5 bedroom house on that salary. I don't give a crap what you say after this, cause you're not telling the whole story and you know it. Give me a friggin break..... Acting like you live in paradise on $9 bucks an hour is a insult to people who are making that kind of salary and struggling just to keep a roof over their head or feed their family.

Toyoto didn't put this new plant in Clayton for the same reason that the Army recruiters don't spend much time there either.

The down side to the area they did select is that the people that can least afford it will in the end be the ones that pay for Toyoto's new plant.

I wrote this part. Hope this helps clear it up a little.

"Bottom line is, if its made in America....its probably a pile of crap and overpriced because our assembly line workers think they deserve 25/hr to screw in four screws on a door panel. (thats a bit of an exagerration but you get the idea). Okay, tee off on my opionion everybody."

YOU SURE HAVE A LOT OF NEGETIVE THINGS TO SAY ABOUT ME AND MY JOB. HOW ABOUT TELLING ME WHAT YOU DO FOR A LIVING? WHAT ARE YOU PAID? WHAT IS YOU EDUCATION LEVEL? THAT WAY I CAN COME TO A CONCLUSION ABOUT HOW I FEEL ABOUT YOU AND YOUR LIVING!

I am a weeee bit confused ....
We make fun of someone making $9.00 and hour but rip someone who makes $25.00 an hour. Where is the happy medium?
Andy you can tighten my 4 bolts and I would be more than happy to pay you more than 25 bucks an hour   :D

Okay Guys serous question here I have never looked at a toyota so I don't know that much about them . do they even make a car with a v8 in it . If not how can they race in nascar?

Toyota developed their own V8 for the truck series, and that is the base for their cup engine...

Monte Carlo, Fusion and the Intrepid were/are all V6 (and front wheel drive), so it is really irrelevant what the toy has in it. The Charger is the only car out there now that is v8 rwd, and the Germans own it...;)
