My point was that american car companies used to make cars just so an engine could be used in nascar . the boss 429 for 1 if they don't even offer a v8 in any of there cars how can they get in .

I have no idea why I'm responding to this, but is this proof enough for you.

Toyota's first V8 engine family was the V series used in the prestigious Toyota Century ultra luxury car. This engine, unique from other Toyota engines in that it had a hemisperical combustion chamber, remained in use in the Century until it was replaced by a V12 in 1997. Other Toyota V8 families are the UZ engines and the new UR engines.

The Toyota Century was first built in 1967.

Today the Toyota Lexus line produces four cars with a V-8. The Lexus LS 460 & LS 460L and the Lexus LS 400 and Lexus SC.

You haven't been able to walk in a dealership and buy a production car of any make that runs in Nascar in years anyway.

Read what I wrote....Toyota produced their first V-8 and put it in a PRODUCTION car (Toyota Century) in 1967 until 1997

They still use V-8s today in the Lexus line

Thats not what he is saying, but your right. Current engines in Cup cars bear very little resemblence to the production road car engines, thats all 4 of them. The current Ford is the oldest version running.
