Well..anyone who has done anything that involves taking care of a person..or family..who's lives have been changed because of some guy..or girl..who thought..hey..i can drive..i only had a FEW beers(and..which by the way..if your driving is impaired..so is your ability to think what a few beers are) and you will take this with alot of serious thought. The laws..as to me..are still to light for drunk drivers. I worked with a towing service for 6 yrs..and my wife is a nurse..worked in the er..both of us..have seen and helped people involde in this crap. I now work for a truck service..which we pay alot of insurance on those truck to keep them on the road. And 2 times we have had our trucks involved in a drunk hitting them..both times no insurance for which..we had to turn them into our insurance..and even pay higher rates. Now..imagine what would happen if everyone wouldnt drive drunk.....PERIOD!!! This guy..Scott..got off lucky..and its damn lucky he didnt kill anyone. Thats what amazes me..everyone is like..oh..he didnt hurt anyone..so..its not so bad. Well..I for one have been a firm believer in you reap what you sow. Do things against the law..you should pay and pay dearly!! Ive done plenty of things..some good..some bad in my life..and es..i have paid my dues to. Just think of it this way..if you or your family..were to be hurt by a drunk..how would this make you feel..and to think..gosh..it was a VERY PREVENTABLE accident!! No wheel came off..no tire blew..no car skidded on ice..or snow..just some person didnt need to be on the road. If said person cant seem to use good judgement when it comes time to climb behind the wheel..well..he doesnt neet to be climbing behind any wheel. and for anyones information..i have never drivin drunk..gotten a dui..never even had an accident that was my fault..but..i do have a family member who did so..and was ok with the punishment he got..and is still getting.

you have brought up and made some very good points and i agree with you almost 100%,but what about all the poeple drivin 100mph on their way to work,or the lady i seen driving and eating cereal at the same time,or the guy drivin 100 mph while on his cell phone,or many of other crazy poeple behind the wheel who have not had a drop to drink,all these poeple have killed someone inocent behind the wheel...i am like you i beleive if you brake the law then you suffer the cosiquence and take your punishment and better yourself and learn from that mistake..but what i am getting at is one guy can have two dwi and one guy three and the guy with two will get a worse punishment then the guy with three.if you are driving drunk,everyone should get the same punishment PERIOD!!!!not one guy get off easier..basically what the law is doing is discriminating against one person then the other....scott wimmer will get off all this because of his money,but if you or i would do this then we would do time for it..so i do agree with dean,the laws are screwed up....

Well..thats true..but this thread was for a dwi that Scott Wimmer got..not to talk about how laws are messed up for other violations. but..that is true...and i dont disagree with that. And..yes..he will probably walk away from this..but..most first offenders do anyway. They pay out the wazooo..but..still..they get set free. All get set free. Do some schooling..watch videos..pay a fee..and get a minor suspension. But..years ago..our glorious Nascar sanction..which i for one..think its not the greatest there is..and here's why. You sign a piece of paper..give nascar your social security number..driver's license number..insurance number..ect. and..this is the kicker..even if you have 3 dui's..yes..3..you still get a driver's license. Now..i also realize..all other tracks..they dont check to see you past record. But...nascar preaches..promises..and promotes they are the best..well organized and strict racing association out there..but..they are flawed in a way they shouldnt be. If nascar give Scott a suspension..then id bring up the question...why him and not others??? Opens a can of worms it seems. And yes..its just like our law system..why him..and not others. You are correct pm on that fact.
I keep hearing about the DUI laws being screwed up and that people are treated unfairly. Do any of you have any idea about how the DUI laws work. Do you have any idea what it takes to prosecute a DUI. The laws are not written poorly. They are well thought out and have had many revisions over time as needed. THe problem is that the jury system, hey that means everybody, does not want to prosecute DUI's. The thought is that everyone is entitled to a mistake. The problem is that a jury cannot hear about any prior convictions. They generally vote not guilty assuming that the person will learn his lesson and not do it again. If a jury will not back up a prosecutor, then the prosecutor has to do what he can. Also, every case is different. You cannot apply the law exactly the same to everyone when no two cases are the same. Before you start complaining about the law, learn the facts about the legal system.
