Who is talking about Godfrey? Do you dislike Godfrey? I think Godfrey is an okay track. Not the best but okay. I am not trying to convince you on anything. I am just telling you Belleclaire is too small and dated for me to enjoy dirt track racing.

Wow! Look Mommy I can say "Stupid" on the internet. It seems you make statements without explanations. What don't I know? How about some details. You need to get a brain - Wow! I think that has been around in every elementary school. Why don't you tell me what you think instead of repeating the second grade.

Thanks for the reminder! I forgot about the MALMS race. I think I will venture up there tomorrow night and watch Erb, Shirley, Melvin, Dixon and a few other top notch regional drivers go at it. Who will you be wacthing? Are you still LYFAO now? I was wondering why all this hostility exists surrounding the uporoar over Belle Clair and the references to Godfrey. I see the Godfrey vs. Belle Clair argument has been going on in these forums for some time. I was just posting some thoughts after visiting Belle Clair after 30 years. For goodness sakes - I stated they improved the place by getting rid of the large wooden unirnal trough!
Here's what I have learned. People see things as they want to see them.
Belle Clair is the best racing in the region and Godfrey is the worst.
In rankings of dirt tracks Belle Clair is second only to Eldora and that is even in question.
If it was good in 1948, it is good for 2004.
People can be too hardcore and defensive not to see the future of the sport and see it for what it is - ENTERTAINMENT. If it is not entertaining, then average fans or new fans will not fill the base needed to make the sport successful. Improve and sell the product. Hardcore fans often argue with their hearts. I asked you a few questions and you did not answer them. Do you think the racing would be better if the track was expanded? Do you? 13 different winners does not necessarily paint an accurate picture that passing and lead changes were happening at every turn. If you want to see the world through rose colored racing goggles, more power to ya - and to kookie monster too.
Here is an idea - why don't we have all the Godfrey fans and Belle Clair fans unite. Convince each track to race every other Friday Night and combine the resources. Car counts will be up and the two sides can give each other a big group hug. You can argue all you want which one is better but none of them will ever be an I-55!

you won't see erb unless he is out of his mind, and whocares about this weekend going to the big show next weekend ,can you guess what track if I could travel this weekend which I CAN'T would love to go to kkk friday night but maybe next year,go as many time you can at godfrey because it won't be there much longer betcha whenthey put the highway there it will ha ve a big dip right around lmao turn 3

Whew - Counseling - lots of counseling.

I am just WONDERING what do u all think of I-55 campared to Belle-Clair and Godfrey race tracks? My Opinion I-55 is world class they have good fans, Nice facilites and GREAT drvers.

sure lets make the track a 2and 1/2 mile but really where are going to expan d that is a fairgrounds that has tobe considered the back side is houses and businesses so please explain how you going to expand ,here is and idea also tri city the biggest track inthe area but what track dothey run onweekly yep the 1/4 ,also guys with lilmotors or under funded teams are able to compete at bellvegas hince the thirteen differnt winners

1/2 miles only eat up motors and cars. They have very little purpose other than that. I went to the MARS and Summernationals races at Tri-City this year and I enjoyed them just as I did the Summernationals race at Godfrey, but none of these tracks compare to Belleville. If you've been there recently you would see that Belleville has had alot of painting going on and that the front stretch wall has been remade in concrete. If they finish that concrete wall all the way around and put in a steel gate there will be nothing left to update about the place. I wouldn't go so far to say that if it was good in 1948 it is good now, but I would say that if it was good in 1965 its probably good now (minus the damned Belleville draw (which I'm not sure of when it started I just know it used to be worse) which I believe Godfrey has been mimicking lately).

Finally! A person that has an alternative viewpoint that actually tells using examples and a well written response. I personally beleive the best racing takes place a a medium size track. 1/3 mile tracks seem to be the best in accomodating and producing good racing. I have been to a number of 1/5 mile tracks and they seem to be too jammed for good racing. Maybe I have not been there on a good night. I pretty much avoid the small tracks due to the lack of excitment (unless you like wrecks). The 1/2 mile tracks are too big in my opinion as well. I rarely go to the larger tracks in this size range. It just seems to be better racing on the medium size tracks overall.
Why deosn't Belleville host a MARS, NALMS or UMP Summernational? I know they had a challenge of champions race early in the race season. I thought I saw them early this year on the UMP summernational schedule then it was gone. Where they ever on the schedule? Whay are they not bringing a sanction series race to draw in some big national drivers as wellas the best regional drivers from time to time?

Dirt Hound only asks the questions and never answers them. His qoute should read: When you have the answer, I change the question. DH believes there are two types of people on this forum. People who love Belle Clair and hate Godfrey or people who Love Godfrey and hate Belle Clair. Everytime he responds it is always a slam to Godfrey and how sad we all will be when it is gone. I have went to Godfrey 2 times last year and 2 times this year. I consider my home track I-55 and attend at least 3 times a month. DH doesn't get it. Tag your it.

Ultraman, someone must have forgotten to tell Frankie Martin at the 100 lapper this year that you can't pass at Belleville. They also must have forgotten to tell Rick Standridge that you can't pass someone for the win on the last lap, as he did at the make up show a few weeks ago. Oh, and Hamerlee can't come from 8th to 3rd in his heat, and Don Klein can't come from 6th to 2nd in the same heat at the last Sunday night show. The track is just to small.

brandon and layne it's like talking to a brick walll ,a summer nats you don't get do you yes it would be nice to have a big race at bville but so what they have a good ole tyme every friday nightwill it happen probably not ,plus not that I drink but what track has a beer cart to bring a beer and its like watching jet fighters in a gymnaisum the track I 'd like to go to every friday would be kkk but that can't happen and tri city blows

Hmmmm - I guess I need to go every week to see if this happens. I have seen Hamerlee race at Pevely. Klien is a regular at I-55. I would love to see Frankie Martin come down to race at I-55 especially the Pepsi Nationals. The track is still too small for my entertainment - that's just a preference. I also beleive (in my opinion) the caliber of race teams are better when the track is larger than a skating rink.

Can anyone answer the queston why Belle Clair did not have a Summer National race when Godfrey, I-55 and Highland did?

Count The Seat At Bellvegas And Who Was That On The Poleforthe Extreme Race Wasn't A Godfrey Regular Was It

seems to me that belleville is just a little different for some folks tastes.
i try to get there a couple times a year. kinda like seeing big cars duke it out on that little bullring. it would really stink if all dirt tracks were the same. been to godfrey a lot in the past and while i dont have any complaints about the facility, seems to me like the show drags quite a bit .
