stlracing: UMP claimed bryan collins (brant kehrer's) engine and they refused to have it taken and t

If it is put in the rules to claim the car then so be it. NASCAR dose it every weekend. Midget racer is right once you present the car for competition you go buy there rules or don't race. beaten this one to death.

well if all that is true i see no reason why anyone would not stand behind collins. sounds like gundakers wasnted dauderman to finish higher and not see giving joe kehrer more money.

Not true! Bobby went out and did what he had to do...finish 3rd or higher in the feature! Without the D.Q. Bobby won the points by 2......with it he won the points by 7! Didn't NEED any help from UMP, the Gundakers or anyone else despite some trying to stack against him!

And none of the BDR team had anything to do with the claim (or attempted claim) that occurred at Tri City.

We were however, fully prepared to have our engine claimed because everyone in the pits knew that UMP was there to claim someone at some point during the weekend!

There is alot of holes in some of these posts. I dont believe Bryan made the decision I would bet he was told not to pull if asked. Had there been any question i am sure Ump and Kevin would have given Kehrer time to come down and make the choice . Other wise why wouldnt Kehrer say anything if he would have pulled it. It has always been considered illegal if you refuse any claim or teardown i see no different in this case.

bryan was asked to drive the car and knew nothing about the motor or anything else for a fact it was sittting at bryan's trailer before bryan even got to the track with ten gallons of fuel and four wheel foams So wide don't someone call Sam with ump and find out the truth to who made the call to claim 2nd that night.

I am just curious as to why they switched the motors in the #92k & #8 this past week? Does one run better than the other?

Brant Kerher was quoted as saying "they switched motors". Not put a different one in. Wouldn't make sense to pull 2 motors just freshen up 1.
Not implying, I know that no 2 motors run the same, just wondering if this was the case??

This is what happens when people with unlimited money run limited classes. Everybody wants to win so they spend more, and more, and more. Nobody wants to progress and run with the big boys, they'd rather dominate a lower class. Look at the mods, its terrible. Running for the same money when the class came to this area and everybody was running claimer type motors with double hump heads, now guys are spending on the average 15,000 easy to race for $500 if you win? This is whats killing racing.

Obviously the $1000 penalty isn't stiff enough. I'd make it plain and simple, refuse a claim car owner and driver will not race crates again, and the serial # on that motor wouldn't compete again either. If you're flying straight there's no need to refuse the claim, no matter what lame excuse is brought up. I guess it's better to be thought of as a cheater than to be caught and remove all doubt. JMO not accusing anyone of anything. It's just obvious this claim deal needs addressed.

That's the product of mod racers not using the claim. Afraid to make someone mad. Well, those with the dough didn't care who they made mad when they would show up with their outrageously expensive hooters under the hood and wipe every ones azz. Once again....JMO

I noticed Brant Kehrer's name in the results the following night after the claim refusal, was he allowed to compete with the same car and engine they refused to give up the night before? I realise that UMP points were over but I bet the others racing were not happy racing against an engine that someone refused to give up in the claim the night before.

Why would the #8 car and the #92 switch engines when they are going to compete in the same race? I do recall one car pulling out early a time or two this year after dominating the whole nights events with different drivers. Wasn't UMP there to claim engines on those nights? Coincidence? Maybe someone tipped them off????

There was no $1000 fine - they lost only what the car made for that night. No suspension, absolutely nothing!! That's justice.

WOW There wasn't this much to say when Scott Bloomquist got caught with cheated up tires or whatever the reason was at Wheatland. This is crazy. Poor Brian and Brant why is there so much to say over NOTHING!!!!!!!!
