thanks Allied

I think you are safe to assume I was talking more about the big name L.M and Mod driver than the big name sportmen.

i think it really doesnt matter. 2 weeks ago i started fron row pole and won my heat easily, then last week i drew 75 out of 75 and started 8th and got 3rd. i would have felt better for making the dash by passing 5 cars rather than just pretty much hot lapping for 8 laps.

I disagree Tom with your whole analogy.

1. I think passing points would be better for the driver at a track like Belleville than a bigger track such as Pevely. I say that because on a bigger, wider track you would have the guys with the bigger motors more able to amass more passing points, whereas on a smaller, tighter track the advantage of a big motor is lessened because its more about driving than just raw horsepower.

On the issue of fairness I'm puzzled why you feel its more fair for a driver that gets lucky on the pill draw and starts on the front row pole and on those hot August nights when the track slicks over in hot laps only has to protect the bottom and keep it under him should make the dash rather than a driver that draws a big pill and has to start in the back and who has been rooting around taking advantage of every mistake for 8 or 10 laps but because he runs out of laps has to settle for 4th should not make the dash.

I think any method that took the luck out of it and put the driver in control would not only make for better racing but would serve as a reason for more of the top drivers to consider racing there.

Like i stated before everyone has there opinions so that is why i stated mine and you have stated yours. Nothing wrong with either opinions b/c everyone has there likes and dislikes. I do agree that it does stink when you draw a bad pill on a night when the track is slick after hot laps. But if you have enough knowledge on setups and good at driving on the slick then you may be at a advantage to alot of others that play follow the leader in them kind of track conditions. Learn a good setup that would enable you to run the middle or what not when the track slicks out. Yeah it will not always be there but sometimes it may be. Like Chris also stated we in the sportsman and pure stocks are limited on what we can do with the motors. I know you said you were refering more to the late models and modifieds but just because you have a big motor in them classes doesn't mean you can drive.

If you have never been in a actual race at any dirt track then i wouldn't assume so much. When i got into racing i thought "heck how hard could it be". Some people make this racing stuff look so easy. I got one big slap in the face back then. Getting lapped on a weekly basis and what not. It is easy to sit in the stands and say what a driver needs to do or how they should run the show. Maybe your opinion on the passing points would change if you were a driver out there. But then again maybe it wouldn't. Different strokes for different folks. Alright well so to blab again. I promise i am done.:D . Again good luck to all this weekend. WOO HOO racing at I-55 this weekend!!!!!!!

Tom

Hey Jimmy...but how would you have felt if while you were easily winning your heat race, 6 other guys started in the back (of your and other heats)and finished 3rd or 4th and kept you out of the dash?

I wouldn't mind trying them at BC since I generally can't draw a pill to get me very far up front anyway. LOL

Mike

Mr. Glenn Jacoby used to have a saying about caution flags. "Somtimes they work for you and sometimes they work against you". I guess that could apply to passing points. If you start up front, you don't like them. You start last, you love them.

Thats the whole point, a car should not be in the dash just because they got lucky and drew a low pill, a driver should be in the dash as a rewarded for racing his way into the dash.

The dash used to be called trhe "Fastest (fast) 6", but that isn't always true on a track like Belleville.

First I would like to say that I heard MIke is the poster child for AA. Secondly, he doesnt need their number. AA calls him every day to check up on his progress. Ak

I have been on some posters before, but they all were hung in the post office. Why do you think I wear my sunglasses all the time?

Actually I thought you were hoping to land the part of the COOL GUY in the next big movie about stock car racing! You know the Cole Trickle of dirt! :D

Then of course, knowing your fondness of the beverages, I thought you had a 24/7 hangover and couldn't stand the bright light of day!

But now with the cat out of the bag, hiding from the authorities makes much more sense. :D

"Who is that behind those Foster Grants?" is that still a commercial? Now you are showing your age Linda.

Jack, you are close....

I WAS up for the "cool, glasses wearing guy" in a remake of Richard Petty's movie, "Smash-up Alley". It was going to be called "Belle-Vegas, The Sheep Herder Chronicles" I was going to play the part of the trailer-driving car owner. It fell through because I couldn't pick up the Summerfield dielect. This led me to the shiney cans which started when Rick Edwards lost his some time ago. I realized, seeing the pain that Rick went through, that those cans were a very important part of life. They helped me through a great deal of pain. Unfortunately, I developed another bad habit, "drunk and disorderly", at least that is what the judge called it. Now I have to hide from the security guards at Belle-Vegas so as not to violate my probation. I even, on occation to disquise myself (when I don't have the glasses on), am seen giving those shiney cans away to Pitdrifter. It seems to be working.
