Tri-City reconfiguration to begin this Monday!

I bet the big announcement will be that they will be ump sanctioned and Bellville will be shut down. Bellville being shut down will not be part of the announcement but it will happen because the track is to small and rough. People just tear up equipment there because Eddie Dixon is crazy and rides the gas all the way around.

YOU DONT HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT!

It always seems that info about tri city is late, non existent and if it is on time then it usually is incorrect. This is not a bash on Mr Dearing, but a bash on tri city. We appreciate everything Mr Dearing does.

Excuse me, armoflu????

You are kidding, right? Information about Tri-City that actually comes from Tri-City and/or Kevin Gundaker, and Jimmy Dearing about Tri-City is constantly on this board. In my opinion, Kevin answers more threads on here than any other track owner or promoter. I don't know what stlracing.com site you're reading, but it must not be this one. Just stop reading the threads by everybody not connected with the track and pay attention to the threads from the track. You'll get your information.

Kevin has already posted when they're having their meeting. I'd look for information after that date. Stayed tuned. :D

I'm crabby, sorry.

Has any other track in this area announced any plans for 2007?

The official's meeting was postponed because many of the officials wanted to watch the World Series. One official's meeting was held this past Tuesday and another one is scheduled for next week.

There will be a press release out at the end of next week from Tri-City.

But for now, here is some info on the new track configuration. They are taking the existing 1/4 mile track and extending the straight aways a total of 275 feet. The banking in the turns will be 12 degrees which is a medium banked track. Before you complain that isn't high enough, there are many reasons for this banking. They can't dig down too deep because of the high water table in that area with it's proximity to the Mississippi River. They can't go too high because it would be too tall for the front stretch wall. They can't raise the front stretch wall without raising the grandstands. So that is the reason for the 12 degrees of banking. The back stretch will still be just about where it is currently on the 1/4 mile. The front stretch will come all the way out to the wall. So coming out of turn four will the groove in the track will be out closer to the wall on the existing 1/2 mile track.

Those wanting sprint cars, sorry, there won't be any weekly sprint car races there. Only special events with the sprints.

If they extend each straight away by 275 feet, that should extend the track by 550 feet. If it's currently a 1/4 mile (1320 feet), that would make the new track 1870 feet, or a tad closer to a 1/3 mile (.35 mile) than the 3/8ths everyone is talking about. Maybe they should advertise it as the World's Fastest 7/20ths, like Putnamvile does with it's 5/16ths.:p :D

You are forgetting that they are also widening the turns to reach the front strech wall. That will account for the other 110 feet.

Thanks to Kevin and crew for making a big investment in dirt racing in this area!

i talked to kevin yesterday,he plans on having the back strech a bit higher so the fans will get a full view of the racing surface

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

BTW......... WHAT DEGREE OF BANKING IS THE 1/4? JUST TRYING TO GET A VISUAL OF THE NEW TRACK.

That's like Lernerville, which is an evil track to try to get around, because the entrance to the turns is not the same as the exits.

Basically what I mean is that Mr Gundaker has great ideas and intentions but sometimes the reality of things take over and plans get altered. Other times promises are made about events that are not exactly true. For example, the drivers list for the Fedex 50 was posted on here by him as having commitments from certain drivers and some of those drivers did not show up. His fault or not.....don't list drivers to be their when you do not know for sure. Another example, (I can't remember which race it was) but last year a big race was rained out. I called the office at around noon that day to make sure they were having the race and they said of course we are, no doubt (exact words if I remember correctly). Me and a couple friends went over there and when we arrived all the haulers were leaving. That is where I developed my opinion.

Once again....this has nothing to do with Mr Dearing. I want to make that clear because I respect all the hard work he puts in. Even when people ask dumb questions he always seems to post answers and do everything he can to get the info to the public.

Well, I wish I had all the gas $$$$$ that Jimmy has spent getting to a track where the races were later canceled. Any track will tell you that they are still racing until the decision to cancel is made. You either decide to go and take your lumps if it's called, or you make a judgement call based on the weather reports and put off leaving early. I guess that's just part of racing.

Never had a problem with any other track. It was seriously about a 30 minute difference from when I called and when I got their. Doesn't matter anyhow but just one thing to go along with others. Thats all.

Some of you people kill me! Do you not have anything better to do?? Kevin & Tammy Gundaker & their entire crew work their butts off week in & week out at Tri-City Speedway. They are there EVERY DAY, they try to make TCS the best it can be for the racers & fans yet people still want to complain about everything! Have you people ever worked at a race track? Do you know what it takes to keep a track up & running? They don't just open the gates & say lets go racing, there is a lot that goes on behind the scenes & if you ask me TCS is promoted & ran pretty damn good!

What the track myte look like

Here is pic that I took and laid in where the new track is going to be. If I'm not right let me know.

They are adding 125 feet to each straight away at the end of turn 1 on the 1/4 mile and adding 150 feet to each straight away at the end of turn 3 on the 1/4 mile.
