We lost the greatest track announcer ever in the St. Louis area today... RIP to our good buddy TTG..

From the first time I won Jr fan club at 3 years old, Mike and I always had a special friendship. From then on he always made it a point to make sure to say hi to me and let me know he would never forget me. That was 19 years ago, and he has never forgotten. I am at such a loss of words as to why he was taken so soon. Racing will always be missing a part at Belleville. My thought and prayers go out to Mike's entire family. Rest in Peace Mike!

I like so many were blessed to be touched by Mikes gifts. He had a way to become a part of your life with his amazing character. I am as shocked as all but know he is in the heavenly world with our maker. God Speed Mike we will all miss you. Roger , Mary Stryker and family

Yeah that is just horrible news. I always looked forward to going to Pevely and him announcing who was in the pits..."The Mowequa Missile" Shannon Babb is here...The Real Deal Don O'Neal is in the house..."...and then him really getting into the races yelling, "LOOK OUT!!!"...it just wont ever be the same going to I-55 again! Thoughts and Prayers go out to his family, friends, as well as all his racing friends and the racing community!!

Deeply saddened by the passing of our beloved Talker Guy....We have been co-workers/friends for many years...There will forever be a void in the racing community...We love you Mike!!!!There must be a BIG race in heaven since God has called Mike up..So go do it up Talker Guy style!!!!

Tina and family please accept our deepest sympathies during this most difficult time and know that we are here if you need anything at all..

Great post! R.I.P Mike and go get em at the BIG race.

Thoughts and prayers to the family, the drivers the fans and the racing community. This Friday will be a sad day at belle Claire. He will be so missed, it won't be the same without him.

To borrow a line from Mike..............."Wow!"

There isn't a funeral home in the St. Louis area large enough to hold his funeral, they will need a "stadium".........there are that many people whose lives he touched, and who thought the world of Mike.

He's announced (among many events) quarter-midgets, stock cars at dirt tracks too numerous to mention, the Arthritis Mini Gran Prix, demolition derbies all over the Midwest, big shows at Gateway International, the St. Louis Motor Sports Review TV show, countless banquets and several area festivals.

My husband and I have traveled to non-St. Louis area racing events/tracks (well over 100 different venues) both in the U.S. and abroad......always holding the announcer to the "Meurer Standard" and none of them ever matched his talent or love of the people in the sport.

Our condolences to Tina, his children and grandchildren. Those grandkids will not have shared (as some of us have for over 40 years) in the amazing announcing, entertaining, wit, humor, compassion, devotion, and insight he brought to everything he did.

Tina, we are only a phone call away if you need ANYTHING.

Eileen, Thomas, and the girls

My young son just loved it when Mike would announce Maddog Mark Minor and bark. He would start laughing and get me tickled that he was having such a good time at the races with his Dad. Thanks for the memories Mike. You will be truly missed...RIP

Prayers go out to the family. He was the best around and will be missed.

The St. Louis racing community has lost a dear friend and mentor. Mike "The Talker Guy" Muerer. God has taken the best announcer in the midwest to be the voice of "Heaven Raceway" R.I.P. TTG

I have gotten to spend time up close with Mike in the positions I have at both tracks and you will never find another man that knew more and was as passionate about the racing information that he had stored in his head & heart. The ability to look at a car, know the driver, nickname, hometown, details with what seemed like little effort on his part. The ability to draw the fans into the racing though his announcing style was amazing. You could talk to people and say I-55 and they respond with you have a great announcer, like others have stated... We HAD the best there was... I know there will be an empty void on the stand Friday and Saturday and nothing will seem right in the racers or the fans hearts. Everyone will attempt to get through the night, we will see some of the best racing in the area... but we will all walk away from the track feeling that something HUGE was missing --- TTG.

I was given my first opportunity to announce at I-55 and it happened on my birthday. I remember Mike handing me the mic for the Modified Heat Races and saying "Go get'em Pasta". At that time I realized what was happening, was nervous and felt like I lost any details in my head. I was worried I would let him down first and foremost. Afterwards he said "you done good, you knew your cars and names". That is one of the greatest racing memories of Mr. Mike Muerer I will carry with me always.

Since last night I keep hearing in my head... Randy "KING KONG" Korte, "MAD DOG" Mark Miner -- woof woof woof, The "FESTUS FLASH" Rusty Griffaw

We will miss you TTG...

In December 2011, we moved to California and the toughest thing to give up was the St. Louis racing family. It was such a HUGE part of our life from Spring until Fall. Every track I go to with my son, who was a regular at I55 from the age of 4 until 12, he would always say, " it is not I55" and no matter what other track we attend his response was " this announcer ****s!! ". Mike set the bar too high. Very sad day, Mike made racing a family, Mike made it fun to sit in the stands. No more MODIFIEDS, MODIFIEDS, MODIFIEDS..... Rest in peace Mike..

Very sad news. He was my favorite announcer ever. He will be greatly missed. RIP TTG

This is unbelievable. I made my first trip to I-55 in a couple years this past Saturday and the first thing I noticed was that TTG was not announcing. I have been to racetracks all over the eastern half of the country and no one that I have heard was in the same ballpark as TTG, not even close. He was the only announcer that I have actually looked forward to listening to.
Best wishes to those close to him.

I never thought when I asked McGinnitey saturday where the "real" announcer was at, that I was never gonna hear him announce again. He was the best announcer I've heard, and I've been to alot of tracks. He loved the sport and he cared about every driver and fan that was at the track. Mike had just as much fun at the track as all of us too. I-55 will never be the same again. Those are shoes way tooooo big for anyone to fill. Thoughts and prayers to his family and racing family.
