What do you think a B-mod / Sport Mod is?

I think one the most important factors is are the tracks willing to work together to keep cars legal at multiple tracks??? In addition to the basic carb, heads, shock, tire, rearend, weight... Etc, no grooving or siping of tires and H on rr at all times...jmo

Here's a single easy set of rules:
Crates get 4bbl and weigh 2450

Open motor 360 cube limit. Flat tappet cam, steel 23* heads same 2bbl carb rule.
3 link or leaf. 4 link add 100lbs.

Basic shock rule such as no adjustable shocks.

I like the H on rr rule. Or if we ditch ump go to the KK704 American racer!

5" spoiler for everyone.

I don't know what the answer is but I do believe if UMP ever wants to have unified rules for Bmods then now is the time to set the rules and get everyone on the same page. Otherwise they will have a disaster of a class like they sportsman and street stocks.

As far as the Bmod rules, a lot of what I'm seeing on here is basically having light weight sportsmans. I'm not sure if that's the right way to go or not but the key is unified rules.

in my opinion things need to be done to LIMIT THE COST. 360 cubic inch max. This needs to be checked and enforced. No roller cams. This is very easy to check. I had a 414 in my sportsman car for a few years, some other people also had 414 / 420 / 430 cubic inch engines. They run good on a gauge legal 4412 carb and you can hook them up well on 3 link or even stock 4 link rear suspension. Allied would make any sportsman car over 360 cubic inch add 200 or so pounds, this was either because they were picking on them or because it was an advantage. I think compression needs to be limited but I dont think any track will ever check this, they could have a 9 to 1 rule or 16 to 1 rule. I am not really concerned with body rules. They need to come up with some kind of simple shock rule to keep people from getting expensive shock, by this I mean $250 to $300 a peice shocks or custom valve shocks. The reason I keep saying crate engines need an advantage is because they are cheaper and more durable. I understand that some people cant afford a $3500 engine or dont want to have to buy a "crate" engine, but from what I see some guys with $1500 engines that blow them up a few times would be better off with a crate. The current weight rule at tracks like Tri City is no advantage to crate guys. At Pevely I had to weigh 2450 and I went across the scales 2560. Ryan Eilers was about 2570. I have a 2012 Shaw with about 56 percent rear, I cant get my car any lighter so that 100 pound break doesnt help me. As far as the 4 bar, that has no place in the b-mod class. Last time I looked, Mike Harrison, Michael Long, Rusty Griffaw, Ray Walsh, Randy Korte, Scott Bloomquist, Billy Moyer, Jimmy Owens, Matt Mevert, etc I could go on, all choose to run 4 bar instead of 3 link. If it wasnt an advantage some of them may be on 3 link? How many 3 link big name Late Models and Modifieds do you see out there? Allowing 4 bar on b-mods means more expensive shocks, birdcages, more technology, etc. We dont need that. Half the guys out there are going from hornets or 3000 pound sportsman / bombers to modifieds, that is a big enough jump I think. I think it would be nice to figure out a harder tire. I cant afford to get on a rubbered up track and ruin 2 or 3 tires and get $60 for running 8th out of 45 cars or 10th out of 57 cars. Anyways, I think I am done talking about it. Like I said, hopefully the people in charge can figure out how to KEEP THE COST DOWN!

what if they allowed 4 bar cars but no birdcages/floating rear ends for them and no fancy pull bar? everything solid mounted

Everyone wants to keep the cost down. How is building a 360 any cheaper than building a 383? How do shocks for a 4 link car cost more than for a 3 link car? All those guys that were listed also run 4 barrels and racing transmissions. Does that mean b mods shouldn't run those either? I do agree with the hard tire to keep the tire cost down. Everyone thinks these bigger b mod motors can just put a 4 barrel on and go run A mod. That's not the case. There's a lot to change to be an A mod motor.

3 link ,pullbar of choice.355 cubic inch limit. Sealed shocks and hard tires. UMP need to come up with some unified bmod rules. Hopefully they won't let them get out of control like the a mods. Face it a mods are a dieing breed,B mods are drawing more cars than the A mods.

the reason the b-mod class is growing is because of cost. If they can find a way to keep the cost down and not let get out of hand it will continue to grow.

The first b mods in this area were allowed 4 bar suspensions and 360 or larger motors ie Los, Fulton, Montgomery County, and farmington. why would you penalize the guys who got this class going. Tcs has the best rules it allows for everybody.

I think a B mod should a steel body stock from firewall back. ( Not stock firewall ) just outside skin sheet metal. I know it will need modified to make good fit but at least the fans get to see a different kind of car racing. Some basic engine rules and chassis rules folllowed by real tech too. Average pit pas is $25.00, If we paid $30.00 and that extra $5 went to pay a proper tech guy Maybe? Just a thought.

They had a class similar to that in the 80s.. Called the Allied limited Sportsman.

Some of us race this class because we like modifieds!

I am done If we have to go any kind of steel you have to paint it hard to beat the dents out of it but I like tge hard tire I am not against the g60 hooiser

I think what everyone fails to see is highland starting this LIMITED CLASS RULES is what has brought the b mods to were we are today yes other tracks with open rules have been around but with little car counts with the rules package highland started brownstown followed then flora then kevin decides with some pushing from marty smith to run a b mod class to see how that goes then macon adds them this year now Pevely doesn't want to miss the boat either so looks like a lot of limited cars are running at all these tracks hmmmmm limited rules must work
